The Post Office in Mineola looks old and tired, with a rather depressing appearance that can be quite off-putting. The Postal brick building has an old traditional apperance which fits well in the town. Recently, I have been having issues when it comes to holding mail and forwarding services. The service from government-employed postal workers can also be inconsistent; sometimes good, sometimes not so much. However, the service for ordinary mail packaging was good today. On the other hand, if the mail service were privatized, prices might increase, but the quality of service could improve significantly. For example, I often use UPS stores, which are privately owned, and their service is consistently excellent. However, changing the current system would require an act of Congress. There are substantial legal and political obstacles to privatizing the Postal Service, which makes such a transition complex and challenging.

The postal workers behind the counters are very friendly and get you in and out quickly. There is also an automated/self service machine in the lobby if you want to do it yourself, trust me, wait on line, the machine is a pain! The place opens at 11:00 am and the parking is limited, if you cant find a space pull over to the side and wait, if you leave the parking lot, you can only make a right turn and it will take you forever to get back to the post office Don't even think about making a Left on Stewart Ave, YOU WILL DIE! Stewart Ave makes the infamous "Queens Boulevard of death" look tame in comparison. Happy shipping!

There is always parking.The people who work there are helpful and nice even if the line is long. When the line is long, the self service machine is a good alternative, but can be difficult to use a times. Theres always someone there to help you if you get stuck at the machine ( I speak from experience). Side note, theres a camera at that traffic light, so dont go through a yellow...almost a red light...you will get a ticket.

For example, a customer asked the Postal worker how come I got back 2 original copies of my birth certificate when I submitted my passport application...? (Maybe cause you mailed both, and they mailed you back any originals they received..? lol). Parking on street or across there's a lot for the shopping strip. Post office is small, but gets the job done for your mailing needs or passport services.

So I live in the East Norwich district but I usually go to Oyster Bay Post office. One day I didn't have time to go to OB post office so I went to East Norwich. I had to mail a package. I didn't have any tape at home so I figure I will just wait till I get to the post office. I waited on line forever not to mention it wasn't even that many people in there it's like he just didn't want to help me finally it was my turn. Everything was an issue with this guy. First I ask for tape, he stated we don't have tape. ok I said to myself this is a post office how do you NOT have tape. so I say can I buy some tape he goes we don't have tape. Oooook then, can I purchase a book of stamps. He states we don't have any. Next I asked, Can I use your scissors please, he states I don't have any. So at that point I'm just thinking this is not so much a customer service issue it's a race issue now. So I said what am I suppose to do and he states I don't know. So I left because I knew my presence wasn't welcome there. On the other hand my mail man Matt is awesome. I couldn't have been blessed with a better mail man then him. Even when people mess up my address he knows that's it my mail. When my name is spelled incorrect with a incorrect address he knows it belongs to me. Matt has been serving me way other 10 years and has never let me down. When I do get someone else's mail I automatically know that Matt is on vacation cause Matt will never make that mistake. The carriers have plenty of non-working holidays but I believe they make their own holidays like "Tuesday" and "Friday". The icing on the cake was not getting two packages delivered the other day with an "alert" excuse of "Delivery Attempted - No Access to Delivery Location" which is total BS! So government workers are allowed to outright lie? Good to know. The pits!
