This was the best DMV experience my husband and I have ever had! They move quickly and got…read moreeverything taken care of that we needed. Though the line was long, we were in and out in no time. We were told to get there at 7:30 in the morning, but we ended up getting there closer to 9:00 and it wasn't an issue. We were probably in and out under an hour. The only reason this is a four star instead of a five star is because they have a bizarre musical chair system during Covid. Instead of a line with six foot delineated marks on the floor, you move from chair to chair where another person was sitting and no wiping down in between. It seems less sanitary, but I guess some appreciate the chairs. We mostly stood, because often moments after sitting, you were up moving to the next chair, they were that efficient. Our first trip was to get our driver's licenses. We just got married, so I had our marriage certificate for my name change, and we both had our birth certificates. Fortunately, I also happened to have my divorce decree, though I had a driver's license from our previous state with my new last name. My husband also was previously divorced.. why don't men have to prove it? Anyway, Kayla was amazing and took care of everything. We made sure to let her supervisor know! Second time was car registration for both of us. This is also a reason for four stars and not five. The person helping us walked to the supervisor station and where people were standing around chatting about a television show for several minutes. When she came back she said she had a copy of our marriage certificate and she said she had to get an exception as the title of my car was in a different last name, but my marriage certificate was on file. I told her that I brought my marriage certificate, but she hadn't asked. She rolled her eyes, but was otherwise efficient... Not as friendly as Kayla, but hey, I was there for efficiency. Other low score as we asked for both of our names on both of the vehicles. When we got the new titles in the mail it only had one name on each. I was able to find one near the garage.It looked to be free parking, so that's always good. I did not know whether the garage cost extra, but I did see some parking areas that had a cost. I saw the main square with the gazebo, and looks like there were people hanging over there. There are lots of horse statues with artwork painted, and signs displaying the descriptions. And since they were artwork, there was definitely no mounting on the sculpture allowed! There are many nice restaurants, including Brick City Southern Kitchen and Harrys Seafood. There is also a theater, but I didn't go inside. Downtown Ocala looks to be pretty safe and welcoming. I should visit again during the day time and see if there are farmers markets as well. But definitely I will come back for the great restaurants over there. I just wish parking was easier. Overall: B

I have all the respect for Marion County Sherriff's Office and have a few friends who work there,…read morehowever, there is always one rotten apple in the barrell. Detective S. Caruthers is one such apple. When I called about someone stealing $18,000.00 from me, he refused to meet me in person and refused to follow up on my complaint. When I called his supervisor, the supervisor got very irritated with me and this was followed up by a phone call from Mr. Cruthers who made 4 different threats against me. He threatened to call the IRS and falsely claim I was accused of IRS fraud, he threatened to charge me with filing a false report, he threatened to call my payroll company (not sure what that was going to do),and told me bad things happened to people who complained about detective's performance. The person who I accussed was a covicted several times flony person and when she denied the claims, even though I had proof, he said her denial was good enough for him. As a public servant this behavior is unacceptable

The square footage of the Freedom branch may be smaller, but they are well allocated for their size. They have computers available as well as audio books, cd's and dvds. I was also impressed with the lending system they have with the rest of the Marion County libraries. The magazine of inter-location activities and programs is appropriate for all ages. They even have books for sale and even occasional sale events! As my father used to tell me, a library card is a key to the world, and beyond!

Everyone was delightful and the atmosphere was pleasant leaving you with a very positive vibe. There were people of all ages doing their thing from toddlers with their parents enjoying the children's room. Some going into the meeting room for a conference and there was a room where they sold books for a a dollar or two or even less! There was a table with little baby plants to take one for free. There is a computer room, and private rooms that I think you can call and reserve and sit in complete quite. There is a genealogy room, a room for young adults and so much more. They have a monthly calendar with activities and events. You can take out 100 books at a time and keep them for 3 weeks. If you want to keep something longer and it is not needed by someone else you can sometimes keep it longer just call or request it online. You can also go online and request books from other libraries and they will see what they can do to try and find a book for you. They have a seed program to help you grow plants indoors if you need. They have a blood pressure monitor program that you can ask about too. This library and its programs care about the community and you. If you need a motorized scooter these they have a few for you to use while there. Marion County library is a wonderful library and makes you feel at home you should visit them soon. The third floor originally contained the Marion Opera House which had seating for 800 people. The first floor contained the Court Pharmacy drugstore. Today at the entrance the word "Drug Co" still appears in the mosaic tile. Thi building is now Harry's seafood.
