Typical Post Office, nothing special about the inside or anything like that. The location and parking is a little weird, especially once it gets really busy. Most times I've gone it has been busy and the line definitely doesn't move at the speed of light. The employees are pretty monotone with no excitement, and they can get a little annoyed when you don't fill something out correct or have the right form. Today I went to get my passport & they also do passport photos at this location. My appointment was at 11:15 but I arrived at 11:00. I must've not read the instructions correctly because I had to have my own copy of my driver's license, so I had to run down the street to Office Depot which honestly took me all of 10 minutes max. Thankfully, they were kind enough about this little mishap. Once I got back I waited about 5 minutes then was helped and had everything completed. By then, the post office was getting very busy. Overall, it took about 45 minutes-1 hour, but I'm glad I was able to get everything completed at once. Also, keep in mind the passport fees! read more

This location deserved a zero star but the one is for the male clerk who was honest. I got there around 4 28 to mail an international package to my husband on deployment. There is no custom form out so I join the line waiting to speak with someone. At 4 52 I spoke with the male clerk and he gave me the form and said I have 8 minutes to fill it outs I said fine, I will be done in too because I'm a fast writer. I completed the sender information and was about to write on the receiver line and I heard "we can't send international packages, why didn't she come early" I looked around and stated the office closes at 5 and I've been here 24 minutes to be exact. She implied that the policy changed and customs forms can't be filled out after 4 45 pm . The male clerk asked when was this implemented, she said last week and he said he was not aware for such information. I was on the phone with my sister who works at USPS in Queens, NY and she said the company doesn't have a policy like that. I repeated what she said to the male clerk and he asked if she is a clerk or she works in the back. Why should it matter? I said she is a clerk for 7 years. The female clerk starts to mumble and utter it is there policy and she can't assist. I could see the awkwardness on his face and he walked away. The 2nd female clerk shouted out "tell her to come back we not doing international". Please take in to account the officer closes at 5pm. The reviews on this page is embarrassing and at what point will someone go there and pretend like a customer and see how their attitude stinks and how vulgar and unprofessional they are??? Who knew we had an inter city post office at the beach. It's a bit hidden just off Virginia Beach Blvd and a few blocks West of Town Center. The official name for the location is Witchduck Station. I assume it handles the largest volume in VB. There is a drop off in the front, look for the sharp turn that has a designated drive. I found the lot overall clean with minor debris. The lawn has been recently cut, but evidently was long and mowed wet. Not attractive. From the road the building appears attractive and as you get closer that notion changes quickly. The exterior is screaming out for a deep power wash of the brick facade. Painting of the entrance columns and trim is also desperately needed. Interior looks rough too. Maybe no debris, but the floors need scrubbed and walls painted. To the right is PO Boxes, a lot of them. To the left is counter service. Read the signs that hang from the ceiling, it's confusing. This area is worn down, tired and dark. Yuck! No wonder UPS and Fedx kicks the US postal service butt! Counter service for an overnight was meh. I expect little customer service anyways. I was given the paperwork to complete the overnight slip with no pen. A side counter offered pens that were broken, or did not work. I finally located one at the passport area. In other offices the paperwork was completed by a clerk, or at least in front of them so you did not lose your place in line. The ultimate goal was accomplished for $24 for an 8x10 envelope. After the transaction was completed he asked if I needed stamps. Well if I did your timing was off. Nah, no reason to come back here unless I have absolutely no choice. read more

This is the main Post Office for zip code 23462. The location is a very convenient Town Center spot. If you are driving south on Independence, just past Virginia Beach Boulevard there is a right turn lane for Columbus Street. The Post Office is just beyond the Town Center Fire Station and across the street from the 'upscale' WalMart the City Fathers required to meet the Town Center decor. Nearby construction rarely slows the traffic flow as the building of our new Wegman's appeared to halt during the winter months. The Post Office is a busy one, almost always with a service line. But I was able to obtain an appropriate size Post Office box that wasn't available at the Thoroughgood Road PO. My dogs like the excitement of the constant come and go of the steady stream of customers while Mom runs inside to check the PO Box. As is usual at most of the Virginia Beach Post Offices, the employees are very somber faced. A smile once in a while would certainly light up the room for those waiting in line. read more

I went to the post office at viking to apply for a passport they told me that they don't do passports. I let them know that i had applied for a passport thru the viking office before, the lady gave me a dirty look and told me i was mistaken. I've been there a few times, but the reason I'm giving this place one star is because the young man over the phone was incredibly rude, impatient, and made it clear he didn't want to be there OVERE THE PHONE to help me with a package issue. I was notified that my package was forwarded to the wrong address, and when I called, this rude young man picks up. When he first spoke, I SWEAR I thought I was talking to an old man with how moody his voice sounded. He starts off by asking what's wrong in the most unwelcoming way possible, and already I'm thinking to myself "what is this guy's problem?" I tell him my package was redirected to the wrong address and he goes in annoyance "you mean forwarded?" I stay patient with him for the sake of my sanity and say yes, cuz it was clear he was being a smart aleck and he knew what I meant. After he explained that my package was only forwarded to the wrong station and that I would receive it soon he seemed more willing to talk. Don't know what his problem was at the start but boy does he SUCK at making a customer feel welcome over the phone! I even heard him slam the phone down when hanging up. People like him aren't suited for a job that specializes in customer service! I also have social anxiety so he made that more unpleasant than it had to be! I would stand more of a chance in a job like that than him! read more

Overall experience has not been bad. My sister is deployed and my boyfriend is at college so I send a lot of packages and letters. Nothing has ever been lost or damaged. And when I mail things priority they always get there on time. However, I have had a few packages get mailed back to me. Although I have clearly written TO and FROM, I will get a notice that the package was successfully delivered to the FROM address. Not returned to sender, but mailed to the return address. Successfully. The staff is hit or miss. For the most part they seem very unhappy to be working there but have never withheld or given wrong information to me. Also, I know it is no fault of this particular branch, but it is impossible to get a live person on the USPS customer service line even during their normal hours. read more

Everyone here is so kind and I've always been in and out very quickly! I live near here so frequent it often and they've been great.

The only thing I like about this post office is that it's SUPER close to my place but I don't mind driving further to another USPS that doesn't test my intelligence. The service is super unprofessional and rude. Can't even ask a simple question without being judged by the employees and getting a dry ass response after asking. I barely mail things out so I have no idea how it all works but I guess google and my Alexa is much better at answering my mailing questions than going to this place. Very upset with the customer service I witnessed at this facility. I was waiting for stamps, the gentleman in the next line asked his customer service representative why he needed to provide a picture id. I don't know what he was asking for. The next thing I knew the rep was speaking loudly to this customer about how he was being clear and it was obviously the customer's fault that he didn't understand. He did this repeatedly as the customer pulled out his ID and tried to say that he just didn't understand why. This went on during the rest of the conversation with the postal clerk continuing to be sarcastic, hateful and belittling to the customer. I don't know why there are so many terrible reviews about customer service. I've been coming to this Post Office since 2017 and they do a great job. The line is always long but the employees work fast and do their very best to keep the line moving every time. I'm a big fan of Chapelle, he's really nice, and so are the two ladies who are usually up front as well. The parking lot here is almost always crowded! It's a good thing it's a one way lot. People don't pay attention when driving. Today was busy like usual. There were 5 people ahead of me and out of curiosity I timed my wait. It was six minutes total I was in the post office and done. Not shabby. The staff are proficient, and not rude. But I definitely think that they are probably overworked or have to put up with a lot of crap because none of them really smile and have this vacant "I want to escape this place " look. Convenient, prime location being that it's near Town Center but the good ends there. Although the building looks nice from the outside, the inside is a different story. It's old and dated. The crew here, RUDE! Not to me, but to a lady with a young child. Her poor little kid, roughly 3-4 years old, bored standing in line, started fussing and crying. One of the male clerks with a beard (hell, they all have beards) says out loud "if you're crying, you ain't allowed in here" and something else along the lines of "take the crying shit outside." How unprofessional and rude. His fellow clerks seemed to find him amusing. Not. Another incident where a lady customer was waiting off to the side for help, no one came to her attention. So the smart ass clerk yells across the room "Aint nobody there to help you yet?" She says "no" and he picks up the phone to get on the loudspeaker to announce a customer needs help. After hanging up he mutters under his breath something like "I ain't got time for this shit." Like, dude!? You have customers in front of you. A room full of customers at that. I applies for my passport here and though it took a couple of trips, the gentleman that helped me went above and beyond his scope of duties to get me squared away. Outgoing packages mailbox overstuffed on Sunday. This makes the post office virtually useless. Bought postage I can't send my package.

This place is as good as it gets for post offices. All of the tellers are well informed and very helpful. Came here during the holiday rush, and with many customers out the door, they still seem to keep the lines moving, while answering peoples' questions, and getting things done with an upbeat/positive attitude. As much customer service as they provide, it can be very taxing and hard to deal with so much people, and people with a sense of entitlement because they are paying for a service, but I feel like these people genuinely provide good service with a positive attitude even though it isn't a requirement. Needed to go here several times due to being at the Beach and needing to drop off packages. Despite the busy location, I have never had an issue in the parking lot and it is easy to get in and out. There are typically lines here but they go fast due to them having at least 3 customer service reps accepting customers and at least one person helping people in line get their packages and requests together. It is fairly clean, modern, and spacious as compared to other USPS facilities. The reps there are friendly which helps. I also noticed that they have one of the new kiosks which I really want to try and use. I always thought that the USPS needed some sort of self serve kiosk for things like simple labels, shipping, and stamps. One of the best in the area. read more

Its pretty sad,when you go to mail a letter on Sunday in the drive thru and the box is spitting out other peoples mail because it was so stuff full and had not been emptied. I called the police to help me find post office people to help. No one would help.We have had mail fraud in our area and believe something like this is the cause. I could have taken at least 5 pieces of someone elses mail very easy ,but instead pushed and stuff all those back in this box. HORRIBLE. Don't even try to call the number listed. Your call won't be answered. I called over 20 times while throughout the day and then while en route to the post office. Got here, called while in line with 20 pager people... the phones are turned down low but can still be heard ringing and NO ONE is answering them. Horrible. Trust me, a lot of people would just prefer to call and get answers vs wasting their time at the GD post office. We recently had to move into this Post Offices district and I can definitely say that was one thing I simply regret!! They never pick up the phone and the workers are very rude! Totally irritated. Rushed to get to the Post office during rush hour to drop off a prepaid box. Get there at 5:05, the place is closed already. Try to drop it in the box inside for large packages and it has a sign that says it's broken and if you leave anything in it, it won't be secured. The note says to drive to Thoroughgood.
