I felt compelled to leave a review today after what the entire post office had to experience from a very difficult customer. I specifically want to say how Cody and Kamal expressed the utmost patience with Mr. Grinch, who visited them today to complain from person to person about his mail. After Cody, who was working the counter expressed that there was a delay in delivering his mail due to being shortstaffed that was not good enough for Mr. Grinch. This person proceeded to ask for a superior once Kamal came out, Mr. Grinch proceeded to ream him for being shortstaffed and blaming him for not hiring more people. He mentioned that he wanted to make a formal complaint. Kamal said you're welcome to do so, then Mr. Grinch said well, can I borrow a pin and paper lol? He asked Kamal his name, Kamal spelled it for him. He asked Kamal his last name, and Kamal said to him I don't feel that's necessary to give you my last name. He questioned Kamal and said why, and Kamal emphasized, I am the only person here with that name. If you are writing about me, then they will know who I am. Mr. Grinch emphasized that the complaint was going to be specifically about Kamal the supervisor on duty who has no control over physically delivering his mail. So my review is just to say, I received the upmost polite and pleasant service today from the post office. I know it is very common for people to get frustrated with USPS. However, everyone has a job to do and the people inside of the post office that I witnessed today are trying to do that. For the customers visiting the post office, especially right now during the holidays, don't be difficult. Don't go, and don't be difficult, you never know what someone is going through. Don't be mean, don't be difficult or just don't go. I personally apologized profusely to Cody and Kamal for what they had to endure and I hope it doesn't damper their day and I hope the employees in this location have a great holiday. read more

When you pay for a service, you expect to get what you pay for. Sadly, I mailed a gift card to a business associate and after two weeks, I let him know that I had sent home something. He said the mail had been running slow and to give it a bit. Fast forward two more weeks and he let me know that he still wasn't in receipt. This totally got under my skin because I paid extra postage and someone within this organization didn't do their job or took the gift-card for themself.I plan to file a complaint as this can happen at any USPS but since I was near this location, I stopped in to mail the item. It's damn near a racket where you have to pay for delivery confirmation to make sure they don't steal your item. Whomever stole it, I hope it made your life better and filled the hole in your soul. I do recommend taking measures to track the items you mail if they have a monetary value to discourage theft. Keep your receipt to show proof and report these things to your postal inspectors. read more

I like this post office because of their easy to use self service kiosk. As long as your package or letter is ready to ship you can easily print a label and ship without the hassle of waiting in line. Plenty of parking, as well as a drive up mailbox. In and out at this location. read more

This USPS is a great advertisement for the UPS store. Slow and terrible service. I've honestly had much better service experiences at the DMV. If USPS wants to succeed, they need to modernize and act like the customers are customers and not inconvenient interruptions in their day. Example... Christmas time means there will be a lot of business. Get organized!!!! Automate!!! Ensure machines are not 'out of order' or so confusing that they're no better than waiting in the long line going out the door. Don't insult the customers by moving at a snail's pace and holding personal conversations amongst postal employees while 25 people are waiting in line. Staff was nice enough, but the place is a dump! I specifically went in to discuss a two package that's two weeks late. Location right off Lynnhaven Parkway on the East side of the road is good. Parking is plentiful, but the building does not give off this is our main post office at the beach. The lot had minor debris. Landscaping needed help. No line and I asked for a supervisor. I found the interior to be dingy and a duty feel. The woman was nice and addressed my issue without her boss. She arrived at the same answer I had tracking the package by website. It appears lost. She gave me info to file a lost claim. Insurance covers $50, however the envelope had sensitive original documentation. Not happy one bit with USPS. Taxpayers are currently bailing them out to a tune of 75 billion!!! I will avoid if all possible. 1.5 rounding up for nice and professional staff. read more

Came in to get some stamps and the line was out the door. I couldn't open the door actually because I'd hit the next person in line. It went quickly though and I felt as though I was in and out. Walking in here is like walking into a real life GTA post office. Ghetto staff with ghetto attitude and services. Staff never seemed to give a damn about customers and will give you a hard time for no reason. Slow service as always but even slower when the line is longer. Lost packages in this location and the employees are sus. The only person that is nicer is an older male employee. I tried to send a package but I didn't tape the label on my package because it was a return from an online bookstore that I've never done with USPS before (I usually return with Amazon and pick other carriers). I told her what that is, no response. She told me I had to tape the label on the package and I said I had tape in my car but no response and just looked at me, so I just left. I went to my car and drove to the USPS on Laskin Road instead cuz why would I deserve such service? This time I brought my tape with me and walked into the USPS on Laskin but didn't put the label on my package cuz I was curious if the service and handling would be the same. When I walked in, the atmosphere already felt different. First I got greeted by the employee and I told him the same thing. He asked me if it was a book cuz he read the label. I said yes and he brought out a clear adhesive envelop, insert my return label and stuck it on my package. The whole process was done professionally and with respect on both ends. This is the same job but I got a total different treatment and process. If you want your dignity, go to the one on Laskin. read more

Cody the bald dude is literally the nicest, most helpful and efficient post office employee I have encountered at any of the post offices on the south side. As you can see from the other reviews the other ladies that work the front are usually a**holes and act like you are bothering them to do their jobs. They are rude and slow on purpose. One of them was even ignoring the line to make a personal phone call on speaker phone before. Cody deserves an award for being the exact opposite of the others that work here and at other locations nearby and in chesapeake. I didn't get the name of the blue haired lady that is always incredibly rude, but if you have the unfortunate luck of having to deal with her, prepare to be talked down to. Questioned the already labeled packages I dropped off, claimed I didn't know what Media mail is. I've been selling online for over a decade now, I know what qualifies as media mail. Gets annoyed when she has to scan packages in. I guess ten seconds of work is too much work for you, Blue. I never leave complaints online and often just let this stuff go, but after going 3 for 3 of terrible experiences with this person, I felt it necessary to write a review. Located at the intersection of Viking Dr & Lynnhaven Pkwy. Parking lot is big but needs to be repaved due to potholes. The inside is also big with about 6 register stations. Staff is usually pretty friendly but I have encountered a few that were probably just having a bad day. I like that this location typically keeps their Priority Mail supplies stocked because a lot of other USPS locations have them usually empty. This location actually has two stations with supplies for you to take. read more

This is your typical post office. I went in to have a package sent out to for delivery. Surprisingly, the wait was very little to get to one of the representatives. They were quick with it and was able to get in and out. Overall, this isn't a bad place to have things mailed. read more

Yet another package that says it was delivered at my house. Pulled up my ring camera and looked at that date and time just to see the postal truck drive by and not even stop at my neighbors house, my house, my other neighbors house and the one after that at the same exact time and date stamp that says it was delivered. Can't even talk to the manager at the post office about it since I am still waiting on a call back from the last package she said was delivered to my house just for the house 2 streets over to bring it to my house 3 days after that saying it was delivered to them. So I've been to this post office a couple of times and was hesitant about going to this one because my past experiences were always just "ok." Ok as in, never enough lines open, workers not friendly at all, etc. I was especially hesitant because I LOVED the post office in Henrico/Richmond, where I was for the past year. No one can beat that one, but that's kinda far from Va Beach. ;) Anyway I digress - today, I went around 1:30/2ish pm, definitely after the lunch rush. There were five employee's working the counter and another employee working the line helping people prepare packages with customs forms and such so they would be ready when they got to the counter. Walked in at 5:01 not realizing they close at 5, because the doors were still open and they had customers in line, so two of the clerks shout at me that they're closed. I continued to say that I'm here to pickup General Delivery and they just shouted that they were closed again lol. They made me feel like I was in grade school misbehaving or something. I think they could of gotten their points across by simply speaking to me like an adult and letting me know that I'd have to come back tomorrow. read more

I mailed 130 large envelopes that had to be individually weighed and stamped. Jasmine, the post office associate was so very pleasant in helping me with this. I was expecting a totally different attitude and apologized for her having to do this when I first came in but not only did she do it with a smile I found her to be professional and a pleasant conversationalist. The previous reviews are 100% accurate. Went to the post office earlier today to ship a letter and was met with attitude. During the process the clerk asked me to look at the screen and confirm the address only to find there was no address other than the city and zip. I mentioned to teh clerk that there was no address to confirm he said with an attitude (after he looked himself and couldn't locate it either)"the address will be on your receipt. After finishing up up with the transaction I headed outside and as I was walking to my vehicle I looked at my receipt to confirm the address which once again was not listed. I went back inside to attempt to confirm the address and was told they could not confirm it until after it was processed. So basically, if the clerk did not enter the address correctly it would be too late to fix it. Needless to say, I was very upset and wasn't feeling confident in the abilities of the clerk so I just wanted to take my letter and mail it from somewhere else. As I was storming out of the door with my mail in hand the clerk called me crazy which I did not appreciate at all. Just because someone is upset doesn't mean they are crazy. I did not think confirming the address would have been such a hard task but evidently at this location it is.The clerk was extremely rude and didn't know how to do his job. I went in for Passport issue on a Monday, a sign on the front door stated they were full and to come back on Tuesday at 0745. I arrived at 0740 on Tuesday and after standing in line for 10 minutes someone came out and posted a sign stating they would not be doing Passport appointment due to taxes. I asked to speak to a supervisor to which the man replied I needed an appointment. I told him I would like to schedule an appointment and he went into the back office area. When he came back out he said the postmaster was on the phone to which I responded "I will standby." After about 15 minutes another lady came out of the back office and I asked her about the postmaster she didn't seem to really care and went about opening up the locked cages. She returned after around 5 minutes and said I needed an appointment so I said "I'd like to make an appointment". She then told me I cannot make a appointment. "So I can't see the postmaster and I can't make an appointment to see the postmaster?" "Is this dude the Wizard of Oz or something?" She then gave me the 1-800-ASK-USPS and said to call to talk to someone if I wanted. I filed a complaint and I'm currently awaiting a call back from Oz. read more

I've lived in 18 places and this is hands-down the worst postal service out of all those locations. Last Friday a package was due to be delivered, and online tracking indicated it was out for delivery. Then it didn't get delivered. Almost a week later, the only tracking update is that the item is delayed. Why is it not being delivered, almost a week after it was ALMOST delivered? The sad thing is, this is not the first time this has happened. I have filed missing mail inquiries that went nowhere. And several times, tracking has indicated an item out for delivery, then it's not delivered for another couple of days. I would say that happens for almost half of all package deliveries. Ordering from eBay, Amazon, etc has become a crapshoot. read more

I went to pick up a package and the guy asked for ID but I am in the military and still have my home state license so the address did not match and would not give it to me. I told him if it would have been delivered rather than having to pick it up the driver would have scanned it then left it at the door and not gave two s***'s who got the package so what's the difference.
