If it's not one thing it's another at this location. As someone who mails items, and I'm talking regular greeting cards, every other month or so I'd say my experience has been smooth only about 20% of the time. Once I was asked what was inside of my greeting card from a nosey perspective, and when I didn't tell her she refused to send it as a card and insisted it was a package. Only for that "package" to arrive to the intended address 4 weeks later. Another time they claimed my card didn't bend enough and therefore couldn't be mailed regularly. As someone who has mailed things for years at many post offices across the country I must say this location has fostered my worst experiences. Literally how are the rules different every other month... for greeting cards. I can't imagine what would occur if I was sending actual packages! read more

This place lacks integrity. I needed a passport urgently for a trip as I was told that my previous passport had gotten lost in the mail that had been sent to me from the US passport office. I went into this post office after making an appointment as it was a passport acceptance facility that stated online it took photos. When I arrived they acted as if I did not have an appointment and informed me that they were not taking photos, but that my old one would work (even though they knew it was taken in March, which was longer than 6 months ago). They had me pay the expedited shipping and expedited passport processing fees, and pay for a second passport. I just received a letter in the mail from the passport agency that photos older than 6 months cannot be used. I may miss my trip now, after paying extra money being hopeful that a passport acceptance facility would get it done correctly. My worry is that this location knew that photos older than 6 months could not be used, but that they wanted to collect the payment. Please do not go here for passports if you can avoid it. Plan ahead and do it yourself. They took advantage of me when I was hopeful they could help me. read more

I am appalled to say the least. There's a delivery woman named Vanessa who should be fired for not doing her job!!!!! SHE IS UNWILLING TO DELIVER ANY PACKAGES THAT HAVE TO BE BROUGHT UP ANY FLIGHTS OF STAIRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEOPLE ORDER CRITICAL THINGS IN THE MAIL AND THE DELIVERY DRIVER CAN NOT BE IRRESPONSIBLE AND A LIAR. If I was having life-saving medicine delivered to me I would probably be dead right now due to my package not being delivered EVEN THOUGH THE DELIVERY WOMAN HAD ARRIVED AT MY ADDRESS WITH MY PACKAGE. The package was supposed to have been delivered successfully yesterday (6/9/2021), but at around 7pm the tracking updated to say it couldn't be delivered due to "insufficient address". However, I know for a fact that the address was CORRECT because the sender had sent me a picture of the package and it's shipping label. So this morning I went to the post office at 9am right when they opened and the clerk who went to ask the delivery carrier about the package said that the carrier said "she's never seen that package and doesn't know anything about it". This clerk offered no further help so I left. But during the time that I was gone I got in contact with the sender who reconfirmed that everything was correct on their end so I decided to try again a few hours later. When I came back, the same clerk again refused to give me any further assistance and just kept saying that "the address is insufficient" even though I showed her the picture of the package I received from the sender - clearly showing the correct address on the label. Then she kept also saying that no one knows where this package is and no one has seen it. So basically repeating that the package is unaccounted for... The supervisor gets called over and tries to again go look for this package. She then informs me that she can't find the package but all mail that's supposed to be returned to sender have to go through her first and also be scanned - none of which was done. So she took my number and said she would give me a call if she sees it. A few moments after I leave, I actually received a call from this helpful supervisor who informed me that the package was with the carrier and is out for delivery - even though the tracking still said "insufficient address" and the clerk kept saying no one knew where this package was all day. The supervisor actually told me where the carrier was at the moment and I came to the carrier myself to retrieve my package - at which point she told me that she "DOESN'T CLIMB STAIRS". Unbelievable. So that means yesterday she arrived, decided not to deliver the package she arrived with because she couldn't be bothered to climb the stairs and then also marked the package as "insufficient address" which caused a lot of trouble and unnecessary stress for myself and the sender because she lied to avoid doing her job. She honestly could have just left the package at the bottom of the stairs and it would've been fine but she decided to LIE and NOT DO HER JOB even though she had literally ARRIVED WITH THE PACKAGE. And then she lied AGAIN by telling the clerk she had never seen this package. This is completely unreliable, lazy and incompetent. read more

After sending a couple packages through USPS, I've realized how inexpensive it is to ship compared to competitors! I've only come to ship my packages and never had problems. The employees here do have tough skin but that's exactly what you want in a place like this. They are super efficient and helpful, just try to have everything ready as there is almost always a long line. At times they are short staffed. If you're shipping USPS priority mail, you can get FREE boxes & FREE packaging tape, it's relatively inexpensive. This location closes a bit earlier than other nearby which is the only downside. Pro tip: if you're just dropping off a package you can request a USPS pickup from your house, this will save you the trip and the line. read more

Abismal Postal Lobby Clerks NEVER COME HERE!! On 10/10/ 17 at 4:58pm, my husband and I hurriedly walked into the USPS at 5900 Barclay Drive in Alexandria, VA 22315 with 3 boxes and 3 large Manila Envelopes to send out. A postal clerk was realigning the retractable rope barriers to close off the line, and I told her I was coming in. She said it's too late, and they're closed. I informed her, I'm cutting it close, but I'm in the building and made it before actually 5pm. She dismissivley replied "the ropes are already there," and proceeded to close the partition to the retail area. Then an Older, Afican-American Worker in the window brashly shouted "we're closed. It's 5 now. Get out!!" I asked them if there was another USPS nearby opened later and they all completely ignored me. My tax dollars hard at work.... read more

The staff and team at the Kingstowne post office have always been very helpful. I mail Poshmark sales almost every day. I appreciate them.

I like the Postal Service especially that their shipping rates are much lower than their competitors. I wish that they close later than the current closing time. This Post Office is the closest one to my house so I usually end up coming here to mail packages or pick up mail. The line can be long and the service can be slow, but I'm wiling to suck it up as they have the lowest shipping rates around. I don't understand why the other commenter was complaining about people shipping many boxes. It's their rights since they are paying customers. They can ship as many boxes as they want. read more

Absolutely the worst of the worst. I had THE most terrible experience. The mid-aged Asian lady was so rude. Apparently, the way I taped my box was "wrong" and she complained that she had to do it herself in front of everyone. I ended up being assertive with her. Hey lady! NEWSFLASH! YOU are the one supposed to be doing YOUR job! I payed my money to get service from YOU! They complain over the simplest task! This is one post office I'll never return to again. Believe it or not, they had only ONE pen in the entire place (that somebody was already using)!! I had to go to my car and find a pen myself. The place is a rat dungeon. Do yourself a favor and go to another post office or be assertive with these guys if necessary. I question how the staff such as the one I had to deal with even got the job in the first place. This Post Office is probably the best in the area. It is by far the cleanest and the employees are really nice compared to other locations. I highly recommend you go to this office as opposed to any other in Alexandria/Springfield. Love their service and I stay loyal to this post office! read more

Be Aware! Alleged Carrier Theft at this location. My neighbors and I have all suspected for some time that the carriers here take customer packages. We have had multiple packages with a tracking status of "out for delivery" and then never receive the packages. If you speak with the supervisors there, like Anesha or John, they will take your number, pretend to care and then NEVER CALL YOU. If you ask about your package, they will tell you that the carrier "doesn't remember" or "didn't see it". If you are having electronics or if your sender is using packaging which displays what you are receiving (and that item is expensive), use Fedex or UPS. read more

Came back in a minute later. Told the guy at the desk that I was given the wrong package, since there's no way to get anyone behind the BLUE DOOR. Before I can finish my sentence, he starts shaking his finger and says "not me." He didn't even have a customer. So I'm standing here waiting hoping that someone will happen to open the blue door. Over the course of the past month, trying to recover three packages that didn't arrive at my home, I spoke with four different people on the phone at this location. They were able to determine that THEIR CARRIER delivered my packages to the WRONG ADDRESS, but they couldn't get the packages back. They then told me to, "Call Amazon. They'll fix it for you." Absolutely unacceptable. The other responses were, "Well, you can file a lost package claim and maybe the people up in St.Louis will approve it." Horrible. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Never have I ever had so many problems with a post office. My mail carrier is just lazy. Doesnt want to deliver my package up 3 flights up of stairs--okay, I understand. But cant even put a notice in my box that it was delivered to the rental office.. or they just take them back to the post office. The staff is just rude. Everytime Im in there, someone in getting into an argument with the manager and/or the staff. They act like they want nothing to do with helping people. The manager shouldnt even be a manager. Been a customer regrettably for 20+ years ... it's been awful since it opened. The landscaping is now nothing but weeds -- which are rarely cut down, much less pulled up. Most times when I go, there is only one clerk working, which means the line is long, and the clerk on duty has a terrible attitude probably because they've been on duty by themselves for hours. (I will say the very last time I went about 2 weeks ago, there were 3 clerks on duty at mid-day, and they were all cheerful and pleasant and efficient.) Now as to the home delivery from this worthless facility - our house number is 6324 and for the sake of this review I'll say my street is Main Street. There is another street directly behind ours and we'll say it's River Street. Why is it, on a nearly daily basis, that we get, mail addressed to the residents of 6324 RIVER Street? It's not like the two streets have similar names or spelling -- they are very different, not to mention the residents' names are completely different. Yet, the sorters and carriers cannot seem to get it right. When we go out of town we file a "hold mail" request on line -- and get a confirmation email and number ... and then usually when we return from our out of town trip our mail bulging out of the mail box because it's NOT been held! Seems a total waste of our time to even try and manage delivery of our mail ... just sayin'... And lately, our mail is being delivered very late. It used to come about 10:00 a.m. Now it's well after 6:00 p.m. -- and gets later with each day. Tonight's delivery was 8:25 p.m. I'm sure there is a logical explanation or pseudo-explanation they could offer, but we will probably never know, because even when you complain (on line) you never get a response. I've filed several complaints over the years and specifically asked for an email reply, and never get diddly from the USPS. read more

This post office is the best in my immediate area, staff are friendly and courteous and most of all helpful.

A young black woman customer service rep was very very rude to me in October 2020. She was rushing me after she asked me to confirm the address on the screen. After telling her it did not match, she gave me complete attitude on how the system put in another city, etc. I told her to just relax and calm down and she said "I'm trying to explain this to you in the quickest way possible." I told her that it shouldn't be quick because I'm paying my money for it. I then wanted to get my receipt emailed and printed and before I could push the button on the screen, she pushed something on her end which disallowed me to get it emailed. When I confronted her about it, she made up some lie about the system. On top of all this, I went my package on 10/5, and 15 days later, my package is still not delivered or updated in the system. Wouldn't be surprised if that lady threw my package away. That's how rude she was. read more

I am posting once again due to this Post Office's negligence when it comes to emptying their drive-up mail boxes. I was there after 2 p.m. today. The box was supposed to be emptied at noon. This is a high volume drive-up box that was so full that mail was sticking out of it. I went in and complained to the "manager". If I've encountered this twice myself on the few occasions I've used this post office, one can only imagine how frequently is happens. This is really unacceptable and invites mail theft. I'm a big proponent of the post office, unfortunately my latest experience left me questioning my loyalty to a company that does not value me as a customer or values itself as a service based organization. The retail associate assisting me was less then friendly and asked her counterpart more questions about her weekend then she asked me about my transaction or applicable services. I don't mind music in a business environment which can sooth the daily onslaught of stress. I guess management at this location does not regulate the type of music the employees can play at their work stations. Not only could I hear laud music blaring from the back along with banter among employees, but the frontline associates had their own opinion what music would be a palpable choice for its customers which was audible through either a Bluetooth device or cell phone. During my transaction an employee from the back kept coming up interrupting the sales associate with mundane questions which delayed my transaction even more. I will chalk this experience up as a wash given that the experiences at other post offices have always been professional and efficient. read more

As long as you don't have any priority boxes for pick up or any deliveries to your home AND your usual postal worker is on shift, NOT the fill-in postal worker who really does not like their job, you have a chance with this post office. Don't try to call because it will ring 20 times or if you are lucky they will pick up the phone and immediately hang it back up. Spoke with supervisors and branch manager multiple times. Problem has existed for 1 year. No improvements made. They all speak of how they will improve the service but nothing changes. I had to fo to FedEx to be able to make sure my customers orders get picked up. Now if only i can find a way to get my mail and incoming packages delivered correctly and on time. read more

There is possible theft/ fraudulent activity going on from this branch. I have no proof, but the proof I have is missing mail (two weeks worth during a vacation in one instance) that was never found, packages that are marked as "delivered" but were not - some included medication. If I am lucky to get a package, it is may not even be mine... sometimes not even the right street! Not to mention, if you request a pick up or delivery date of a package/mail- they will choose whatever works for them and completely ignore your request. Worse yet, you can file a complaint- it gets you absolutely NO WHERE. It has been going on for years and what is sad is I am not the only one- perhaps I am the only one who complains in writing, but we all have the same story. I stopped using them for my shipping purposes... however, I cannot control the other end shipping items to me- otherwise, I would have stopped using them long ago. Either the police needs to get involved or USPS needs to completely clean up this location from ground up (personnel, processes, hours, etc). read more

I get it, we had a blizzard, but I have not had any mail and we're at day 12! No mail for 12 days. 12 days. Abysmal. The streets have been clear for over a week. The neighborhoods in this area have been clear for over a week. There is absolutely no snow near any road. It's been like 60 degrees out. Through, rain, sleet, snow... Not here! I don't feel like ANY effort is being made. Oh, and the phones are a perpetual busy signal. It just seems like the phones are off the hook and this is so unprofessional. You all should be ashamed. I received the worst customer service today- not only did they not "attempt" to deliver my packages like they claimed they had, they lost one. The staff & supervisor were incredibly rude & after 50 mins they only found 2 out of the 3 packages. When they called to tell me they found the 3rd I was hung up on when I asked them to deliver it!
