My concern is traffic laws are not followed and you can ride down main street past Burnham drugs doing over 40 when it is a 30 mph zone and no one stops you. Further on you can do over 40 as no one is ever there either, I guess to me if you enforce one law you should be enforcing them all, perhaps they are short of help. Not really sure. I am not trying to down them as i know they have a tough job to do and they need support. With the new Mayor perhaps this will all change for the better, YES ALL LIVES MATTER, GOD BLESSS YOU ALL.

Yes most of the amenities closes fairly early, but so are other bases. Easy access with 2 gates mostly open & close to restaurants, shops and the beach. At the end, all I want to say is, if you feel like complaining about this base, go check out an Army base, you will be much grateful for this one

Only one set of restrooms were open as the other building had a sign saying they were closed. I ended up walking out along with some other women. My husband and son said the men's restroom was fine. There is plenty of parking and the view of the Gulf of Mexico is amazing. In the parking lot, there is also a statue of astronaut and Biloxian Fred Haise. I would definitely recommend a visit here and I give it five stars.

They explain it all on one the historic markers inside the fort. Fort Gaines is one of the better kept up forts that i have been to amongst my travels around 'Merica. The cost is 10.00 per person unless you have an old or very young person discount. You pay in the gift shop where you can get the usual fair before entering the fort. Inside, you can follow the pamphlet along a self-guided tour. They have barracks for the various ranks, a kitchen, bakery, different gunports and tons of markers talking about the history of the fort and various battles in Mobile Bay. There is a small museum inside the fort too and it focuses on Dauphine Island as a whole not just the fort. Don't forget to check out the old latrine but don't use it if you are shy and if there is low tied. No seriously don't use it, it's frowned upon by the staff and there is no TP.

The Biloxi Lighthouse is a small lighthouse that was built in 1848. I am sure that in its time…read morehere, it was a part of the beach but in the over century (closet to two centuries) since it was built, progress put a highway around it and now it is located on the island of a highway. Truly an amazing part of the history of Biloxi, Mississippi and it is amazing think of how Biloxi, Mississippi looked back then. If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend a visit here.

We were told we couldn't go all the way to the top. Supposedly the wooden platform has soft spots so we spent money just to go inside by the door , see how high the water got during Katrina, look at a photo of the damage caused by Katrina, and that's about it. Was it worth it? You be the judge
