I only have a loan at Unity One, and up until September was using the ProPay to pay it. When they switched platforms, that was no longer an option. On September 12th, I logged on to pay my bill, and it took forever to figure out how to do it. I tried to link an external account, but it pulled all my accounts from my bank. I just wanted to pay my loan from my main checking account. Once I finally figured out how to do it, I paid it. It showed how much was interest and how much was principal and no fees. When it was debited from my bank, $10 extra was on my payment. I called and spoke with Evelyn who said because I did it through the website, there was a $10 fee. If I had done it on their mobile app, it would have been free. NOWHERE did it disclose I would be charged $10, and what's the difference between the app and the website? I know this is slim, but what about people who don't have a smartphone? This is WRONG, and fees CANNOT be charged without first disclosing them. Received a message from Unity One to the original post above. It doesn't do any good to call, because it takes them forever to answer the phone "due to the new platform." When I originally set up the payment, there was nothing that said there was a fee when it had me verify the amount and hit submit. That's where it should have disclosed it. Also, when I finally did speak with Evelyn, her attitude was "ho hum". She didn't care to help in any way. I asked for a supervisor, and she was supposed to transfer me, but it never happened. I had to call back and sit on hold for 33 minutes, and guess who answered the phone again??? Evelyn. She sent me to her supervisor's voice mail (Cindy M), and I left a message for her around 9:50. It has been 3-1/2 hours, and she has yet to call me back, and I don't anticipate that she will. So what good would it be to call? I went back, and at the top of the page, it says there that using the Guest Web Channel, Contact Center, or Member Solutions costs $10.00. I had no idea this link was one of those, so I continued. I thought this was the online version of paying my loan. As far as I know, that's the only place it's mentioned. Even when paying, it doesn't advise there will be a $10.00 fee. UPDATE: I did receive a call back and was advised that things weren't quite working correctly with the new platform, so now it's easy to pay your bill WITHOUT being charged a fee. no stars. I had $500 per 2 weeks going into Unity One for several years through Bank of America Billpay sytem as a savings account. May 30 payment was returned to me as if it had "bounced" there were ample funds in BofA account, and ample funds in the Unity One account (~10,000, ~12,000 respectively). BofA sent me proof of payment that the funds were not "bounced" BofA researched and found out that the check they sent to Unity was presented for payment twice after it was paid by BofA. The 2nd and 3rd timene it was presented it was returned, due to the fact it had already been paid by BofA. I tried to discuss with the online unity One agent, but they told me they had no access to thee account as they were just the receiving entity. I alluded to legal action, and their response was to cut my access to the mobile app we were using to communicate, however this was after I closed the account. Once I closed the account, I took the check they "returned" to me and re-deposited back into my BofA account, which was returned as not payable since it was a copy of a paid check to Unity One. BofA sent me the documents they had sent to Unity One to remedy this situation and said Unity One would be contacting me. I received no response from Unity One. I went on their online contact form, and other than the automated response telling me they would contact me, no response. I don't think I've got past the lower echelon of Unity One employees, who seem to not be very knowledgeable. My $500 vanished between Bank of America and Unity One, Bank of America sat with me and attempted to find out what was going on, they researched it, sent me documents and sent documents to Unity One explaining the issue. I got no response from Unity One after Bank of America sent the documents to Unity One. I don't know if this was a genuine mistake, or purposeful fraud, but it seems if it was a genuine mistake, Unity One would have responded. read more

Twice in a row I have had issues with fraudulent charges on my account. 1st time they said it was my imagination and discouraged mr from changing my debit card. Next day I was getting hit with multiple charges of $1500 on my account that I FOUND without their FRAUD ALERT SYSTEM finding it. It is happening again and as an engineer that tells me they don't have the safety and security in their system. I am changing banks. They keep trying to say it's a coincidence. read more

Wow, after reading the reviews online I see a lot of complaints but hardly any specifics. When my job relocated us to TX from Idaho, my wife and I searched for a shared branch and found this was a close location. We actually opened up an account with another Credit Union closer to home but it was not a keeper. So we did the shared branch for a few years. Our Credit Union in Idaho was bought out and yet retained its old name, but things change from mergers and acquisitions with companies. We decided to open an account at Unity One as the people have always been friendly and helpful. When we tried to get a wire transfer I was informed by our bank in Idaho that the maximum I could transfer at a time was $1500.00 and a $20.00 fee for each transfer. Anyway, I had a cashier's check sent and deposited it into the new account at Unity One. I can not say how thankful we are to the staff since then and actually prior to that day. Samantha, Diego, and Pricilla have all been great. The other day we had to have a notary and there was NO charge for the service. Bottom line we have no regrets about opening up our accounts at this location, in fact, it is nice to see people still have a great sense of humor in this day in age. read more

Back when this was United Railway Credit Union it was a solid institution. They changed their name or got bought out around 2003, became Unity One and steadily went downhill. I constantly have issues with my debit card. In the past I've been embarrassed by being out to dinner with the family and my card not working due to their technical outages which freezes access to my money. I get "holds" between $70 - $150 placed on my account that last days when I get only $10 in gas (which immediately falls off when I use a debit card from one of my other banks). When I or my wife get paid we're lucky to have the money in the bank on that payday when I typically get my money a day before in my other bank accounts. When I call to inquire about issues I have with them they tell me it's not them doing it but the gas pump, or the system, or some excuse... whatever it is, it's gotten old. I'm fed up and have had enough of these misers. I've moved my money out of Unity One and today I canceled any direct deposit that I had allotted to them & have done the same for my wife's paycheck. I'm processing all auto draft / bill pay away from this place and once that's complete I'll close the account, move on with my business and never to return. I hate this financial institution with a passion. Online banking experience is horrible. I call staff for various problems. No one has an answer. The workers there don't know standard protocol. Stuck at dmv because they promise to fax me a document by the end of the business day to get my truck registered in New York. No time frame. It takes 2 minutes to fax me a letterhead. Also when obtaining my loan, they set me up a savings account I didn't want? Somehow I have to transfer funds into that savings then to my auto loan. I hate this bank. I opened and account in March 2022 as a second bank since I already have another account. First they said they couldn't verify me, then said they ran everything again and had no problem. It wasn't until end of May or June that I even knew what the account number was. That's because they send a letter saying the address have been corrected/ changed. Never changed it what so ever. I emailed them on their website 6/24 and still have not gotten a response. Why do I have 2 savings account and 1 checking and STILL have not gotten a debit card, welcome packet anything. I can't do direct deposit because absolutely nothing was sent to me. Needless to say this account will be closing . It serves no purpose at all since I can't use it. I would love to support credit unions, but dealing with Unity One leaves me questioning how these types of institutions will ever survive. The archaic systems they use, the lack of investing in technology, and the limited access to local branches will be their demise. I was required to FAX in a letter to make changes to my account (secure email clearly would be crazy, right?) and when the fax failed and I called customer support, they told me "maybe wait a little while, we are currently receiving another fax..." I couldn't even find anyone in my office of 250+ that has used our faxing services. We only use this account for a work committee, I guess I am just going to move it to where I bank personally (Wells Fargo and USBank), sorry Unity One, but it is 2019 not 1988. read more

I deposited some money in this bank that should have gone into my credit union. When I went home, I saw that the correct amount had been deposited, but was taken right back out. They then deposited back into my account $20 less than it was on my deposit slip. No reason was given, they just straight-up stole $20 dollars from me. I have banked with Unity One CU for over 10 years, but have recently experienced poor customer service. This CU has gone from good to bad in such short time. Today's conversation with the Manager, who leads the Account Resolution Team, couldn't tell or wouldn't tell me which of their associates had recently updated my account. Instead of providing a good customer experience, I was subjected to her snappish, unprofessional and crabby attitude. The highlight of our conversation was her constant smart aleck "hmmmm" when answering my questions. Absolutely disappointed with UnityOne CU, I'm definitely looking for another bank. Believe me the sooner people start closing their accounts, the quicker we can rid of this credit union. I agree with the reviews... Awful! BNSF Railway should get rid of them. I've had an account with Unity One for several years and things get worse and worse. There have been several instances over the years where I was charged an overdraft fee for a mistaken charge that was ultimately refunded (being charged after cancelation of service, etc). The mistaken charge was refunded by the company but Unity One still charged the overdraft fee, each time saying that since it wasn't their mistake, then it wasn't their responsibility to refund this fee. Direct deposits take far longer than they should, customer service is useless, and the mobile app and online banking options are a flashback to 2000 that are inaccurate, at best. I am currently looking for another credit union so I can close all of my accounts. read more

Got a loan and they set up my autopayments from the beginning. During this same month, they rolled out a new online payment system (I found this out later). Long story short, my very first payment wasn't taken out as scheduled and then they later dinged me for a 30 day late penalty. I spoke to just about every manager at this bank and they all admit to it being their mistake. They said the only way to fix it was to dispute it with the credit bureaus (which is dumb since they have the ability to adjust this). So I did that, waited 2 months to get a response, and they now say its valid. I keep trying to get this taken off, talking to more staff, all agree that it was their mistake once they spend 30 mins going through my whole account, but say there's nothing they can do...what!? Their final response was, we attempted to get ahold of you about this change in the payment system and since we couldn't reach you, it's ultimately your fault and not ours. The customer service is sub-par from the bottom all the way to the top. Spent countless hours talking to many different people (on the phone and in the branch). They never call you back when they say they will. They've overall been very frustrating to deal with. My loan was paid off long ago, this was their error, they admit it, but too proud to fix it, perfect payment status once that was cleared up, but they honestly don't care about you. I'm not the review type, as you can see. But just beware of this CU and the folks that work here. read more

I will never use this institution again. I've been a member for nearly 20 years and as soon as I wrap up my loan I will not allow them to handle my money anymore. I took out a loan, the process was super slow and when it was finally finished, THE CHECK WAS SENT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS! Were talking multiple tens of thousands of dollars here, and it was sent to the wrong place! Then luckily, when it was returned, they mailed it out again without notifying me. It was again mailed regular mail after I told them multiple times that I would pay to have it overnighted. It's now been 2 WEEKS since the recipients were supposed to have recieved this check. This is absolutely ridiculous. Unity One has gone way down hill these last few years and with their apathetic attitude, I wont be a customer again. I have used them for almost all my loans and I've never seen them drop the ball so badly and just not give a damn. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Unity one charged me three insuffiencient funds charges for one authorized charge (a mistake). When I called, their representatives refused to remove two of the charges. We have a boat loan here and I make my payments on time each month. For some reason when I made my online payment in December, I put $601.17 instead of $617.17. They sent me a paper receipt in the mail, which they never do , with no explanation. I didn't know from looking at it that it was the wrong amount. I then received a letter 11 days later saying my payment was not received. Then 2 days later I received my monthly statement with the payment credited. No where on either of these communications did it say I was $16 short. I called today due to my confusion and we figured out together while on the phone that I had a typo. I asked if I should just send in $16 today and he said, doesn't matter. The $35 late fee was being added today. He would check with his supervisor and see if they would waive it. They said no! So for being a measly $16 short, they charge me $35! Why couldn't they have communicated this on any of the letters they sent? Poor customer service. We will be moving our loan elsewhere! This Credit Union should just go ahead and close their doors since they refuse to actually provide customer service! They have no way to stop your direct debit when you are paying off your vehicle unless you go into the branch since I could not provide a faxed request!! What???!!! Every other banking institution that I do or have done business with still has the ability to accomplish this over the phone instead of making their customer drive over an hour to facilitate this request. To top it off they sent me a refund check of $55 in 2020 that was never cashed. I simply asked them to validate that it was never cashed and send me a new refund check. Well that should have been simple enough- NOPE - I have to fill out and get notarized a declaration of loss affidavit and mail this back to them. If that wasn't bad enough according to the form they are going to charge me a stop payment fee!!?? What??!! Worst bank ever, their systems are never accurate, always has hidden fees, debit transactions take 5 to 10 days to clear which should only take 2 days, they wait until they get paid from the place you business you made you transactions, which can be month and then charge you over draft fee. Absolutely the worst banking experience! I financed a boat with unity one and last December they mailed us an offer to skip a payment for Christmas. Well we accepted their offer and did not make the payment. We resumed normal payments in January. Fast forward to June, we go to refinance our home and find out unity one has reported us to credit bureau for lack of a payment. We attempted to work with unity one and they were unwilling to correct their mistake even though we provided all documents and payment history. Avoid this bank and their deceptive practices. At the end of the day, I don't see how anyone wins from them reporting their customers to credit bureau on an solicitation offer they made. You would think they would have the integrity to call a customer regarding a payment ESPECIALLY if they know they have s skip a payment solicitation circulating. read more

I am a member of a credit union in WA state. Unity one is listed as a partner bank. I recently had a fundraiser to help raise money for Susan G. Komen 3 day race as we have to raise $2300. I had almost $40 in change and they would not count it or deposit it. They told me to go to coin star (which charges a fee) or B of A. Up until recently, I had no issues banking with Unity One Credit Union. I never had any issues with my account nor the representative at the 28th street location, until speaking with representative's at the main location today. I rarely uses the account, but from personal experiences, it is always good to have more than one checking account. I was approached today by a representative name Allision Miller stating she decided a personal decision to close my account. The reason for her making that decision is because she stated I rarely uses the account, I do not have my direct deposit set up to their institution, and I am negative $15.00 (which is caused by their service fee) since 1/1/2019 and todays date is 1/8/2019. After asking her several time not to close my account, she then stated "she think it is my best interest not bank with them anymore because she feel that I do not know how to maintain a checking account and she did not want "my type" of business banking at their credit union. I am not sure what she mean by "my type" of business and if she mean because I do not use the account, my race, or because she think I am not beneficial to their credit union because of her personal opinion she formed being that my account had a negative balance for 7 days. I ask her to direct me to a executive manager and she stated their is no one above her and hung up in my face. I called back and ask to speak to a manager above Allison and all the reps place me on hold and then come back to the phone stating she is the only one I can speak to. No one would direct me to a senior manger or provide me with their email address. I then was transferred to a branch manager by the name of Vicki and informed her of the customer service I received and the issue I experienced today. I ask Vicki if I could speak to someone above Allison. She did inform me their is a manager above Allison and proceeds the tells me my situation is not worthy enough to speak with a executive manger. I then later discover Vicki and Allison are at the same location and have already spoken to one another about my issue and not directing me to the appropriate manager with my complaint. I do advice if you would like good customer service, do not bank here. I was lied to multiple times, transferred to different reps, and my account was closed all because I chose not to use my account as often as they would like. I am satisfied that my account is closed because if that is how their reps treat their member, then I do not want to bank there. Regardless of the issues, both reps Allison and Vicki could have treated me with better customer service. They both made me feel less worthy and belittle me as a human being. BEWARE$$$ This bank has so many ways of stealing your money. I opened an account here and found out the hard way that when your account is zero balance, your card still works. Works to the tune of 30$ per transaction. I was later told to connect it to my savings! It did not stop there, after 6 transactions pulling from savings, its back to the 30$ per transaction fee. I normally keep a max of around 600 to 700 in my checking because I travel and use the card at some questionable places around the U.S. and Canada when my CC will not work. I was a customer of unity one closed my account so i thought .sent me a letter after one year saying it was open still.called and was hung up on and the girl said what do u want me to do .send a letter to close it and she hung up.Then called back asked to speak to manager.she yelled and said u were only on hold 60 seconds and said i closed ur account and hung up on me wow!!! Just bought a used car and the dealer set up financing through Unity One. Two months go by and we hear NOTHING from Unity One about payments. I have no payment coupons, no account number. NOTHING. So I call them and get their phone tree. The ONLY option is to press 1. There is no option to press anything else. I press 1 and the system doesn't understand my input. Repeat. Same result. So I do nothing and eventually get to a human. They tell me my that I'm already late on my first payment. Well duh. They say they will order payment coupons but my next payment is due in two weeks. I'm skeptical and worried. Is this a real credit union??? Who accepts a car loan and then NEVER follows up with the customer? read more

I have had the worst time dealing with this Credit Union, i went to another bank an was so much happier, unfortunately i had a credit card through them and dealing with the people at the credit card company were just as bad. I recently moved out of state and decided to call make a payment over the phone (and this was to pay off the card) and after checking my account for several days i noticed the payment was never taken out of my account. So i called and gave them the confirmation number i was given for the payment to be made, they said they did not know why it had not been posted, so they gave me a number to the credit union, i call them and they say they can't help me because they did not take the payment. I call the credit card company back the next day and it still had not been processed, and they tell me it was returned. I ask why, because i know i have PLENTY of money in my account and there was absolutely NO reason for it to be returned, and they would not give me a reason for it being returned. I think what it boils down to is they did not take care of the payment, and i had to pay a returned check fee. As soon as the payment is processed i will be closing my credit card and then next time i am back home i will be closing my account with the credit union. I would have closed my account with the credit union earlier but if have a credit card with them you have to have a checking or savings account open with them. In the past there have been other problems with the credit union, and even though this was an issue with the credit card, the credit union in my situations are not willing to help resolve any kind of issue, they just don't want to be bothered with it. morons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. first off, i suppose i am the real moron here for not checking around before doing business with these people. took out a used a car loan got 17.99 %, have 650 credit, so i did expect to pay more. later found out that the car lot could have got me 11%. well anyway got a call a week after saying the needed insurance info so i faxed a copy over. get a call about a week later saying the same thing so i faxed over ANOTHER copy! well get a call 4 months later stating they dont have a copy of the insurance and that my payment has now increased to over 400 from 290 because of insurance. i am livid at this point so i call my insurance agent and they fax another copy. surely were done, right? get a call today, a week later, we need to verify from feb to july. WOW! REALLY? well i cant take anymore. going to go in next week and pay off the note. so much for rebuilding credit. read more
