They also have an awesome car buying agreement with a number of local dealers. Walk in to the dealership, tell them you're an Affinity Plus customer, and they will give you a great price without haggling. I went in with a specific number in mind for the car I and features I wanted, and the credit union price was actually less than I'd been shooting for! I don't live near one of their offices but they have a good network of free ATMs and there's always the mailbox and online service. They are NON PROFIT so their aim is to get the best deal for their customers, not their shareholders and executives, and it feels like it when you walk in.

It was left in an unsecured location and was likely stolen. When I filed a dispute, I was told that because the carrier showed delivery confirmation, the merchant was not liable and the case would not be covered. The issue is that I never took possession of the item. A package being dropped off does not mean it was received. Other financial institutions recognize this and still work with their customers under "item not received" protections, but Affinity Plus chose not to. Instead of advocating for their member, they took a very strict and dismissive stance, offering no real resolution beyond telling me to contact the carrier. This left me without the product and without my money. I expected better support and customer protection from my bank. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend others understand how disputes are handled here before relying on them in situations like this.

I will start out by saying I have been a Wells Fargo credit card holder for the past 19 years. In…read morethose 19 years, I have used my card every single month, made every single payment on time, to the point where my credit limit was steadily increased to $15,000. Just recently, I logged into my account as my card was rejected. There was a heading that noted "this account is closed." Fast forward, I spent 9 days and over 5 hours on the phone and in person with Wells Fargo. It took me 5 days before I could even get a hint of what may have occurred. I was repeatedly told, "I have no information, you will receive a letter that explains everything in detail." That letter provided zero detail and only eluded to "potential fraudulent activity." This boiled down to two payments to my WF account from an external bank that were insufficient. Somehow, that was deemed fraudulent. I spoke to 5-6 account specialists, as well as the "highest level" executive at WF and NO ONE was able to resolve this issue. They simply reiterated my account was permanently closed. Then had the audacity to invite me to open a new account. Lack of compassion, understanding, and zero client loyalty. Wells Fargo was our family's primary bank for nearly 2 decades, checking, savings, credit, and we will now act as quickly as we can to dissolve all other accounts. We have never been treated so poorly from a business we have been so loyal.

Have existing accounts and tried to open a high yield checking - using the ideal app process didn't work, - call to customer service was at least a 25 minute wait, - agent couldn't help and when we tried to open the account I was asked all sorts of questions about my employment / employer. This wasn't a loan application, it was for a personal checking account. Information about my employer is irrelevant and none of their business. Not to mention that I'm already a customer... It also seems that a bank "concerned" about their customers would (1) not create separate "high yield" and "no yield" accounts - how extremely manipulative and discriminatory, and (2) would have already looked at my account balances and reached out to me to move funds into accounts that were paying more interest. Instead, I had to learn about this product on a billboard I've already steered other customers away and it seems going back to a big national bank is in the near future for myself as well....

While their main location is over off Rice and Pennsylvania in St. Paul (I literally have no set foot there in about 15 years), their online banking and mobile app has made in-person visits almost pointless. I love their app (which has been seriously upgraded in the last 2 years), which has the ability to deposit checks on your device. Super fast and easy. Not to mention, HCFU is part of a national association of other small CU's and banks, so when I lived in Madison I could go into any of their banks utilize their services for convenience. I have used their Auto Loan service a few times and have never had any issues, and their rates (all kinds) are among the best around. I don't know why you would bank with one of the large national banks that charge fees and are difficult to get any personal care. I can't think of a time when I've had issues with any of the customer care I've encountered. I cannot recommend HCFU enough!
