You will get your prmoised cert but you will have to 100% drive yourself. Saying this program is acellerated is a gross understatement. You do in 12 months what colleges do in two to three years, plus more. You normally have your pre-reqs before you joing the program. Those are included in the 12 month of school. Plus, in that 12 months you are learning all your positions and passing them off in a lab. It's hard to truly communicate the level of work that you have to do. If you are not 100% dedicated to putting in the generous amount of work you will need to succeed here, don't apply. And if you have to work full time on the side, I would strongly recommend considering a different school. I'm really not kidding, and not using some tactic to try and "rile you up for the challenge." This is a TON of work to succeed and admissions doesn't even come close to telling you much effort it will take and when you get in there, the teachers only have so much time with you. You are 95% on your own. So if you want to "shortcut" of jumping into a program that will more than likely just let you in, you will be paying your dues on the other end of this. And lastly, getting placed for your clinicals is extreemely competitive. It is very likely that you will have to travel out of state or use a connection to arrange your own clinicals, or get your limited and find a job that will let you comp. But now were getting into the weeds. I honestly would give them five start if I felt like admissions or the instructors had been upfront, or even able to communicate the fact that they are facilitators only. You will succeed or fail on your own and possibly in spite of the school if you don't keep ahead of the work.

A Tip on Timing: Before I get into my feedback, just Be Prepared to Start the Online Portion 'the Day You Get Access'. Pick the date wisely. 2 days scheduled for each Module or you will fall so far behind, you will have to start over. It is fast-paced. Minimum 2-3 hours a day. They will send you the expected start and finish date for each module. Order the Yellow Hartman Book before the course access begin-date to get a head start. Skim through it and then sign up for the course. A lot of what is in the book is covered in the online content, but the book has more information that you will need to answer the questions. The online content has more real-life perspective. The 3-day Skills Labs are for the in person demonstration of the skills. As far as the 'Knowledge part' is concerned, one should come prepared from online study and the yellow Hartman book prior to Skills Labs. 'About The Instructors and The Course' What stood out about the NA course at the Utah Training Centers (a total discovery for me) is: 1. Linda! Now that I have taken the course Skills Labs, Linda! What an incredible person, what a great example, so unusual, never heard of, never seen, never heard of. The grit, the resilience, the mental strength to do what she continues to do despite her challenges that appeared out of nowhere. Most would take that limitation and disappear. Linda is the only one, one of only few, perhaps, ONLY ONE I KNOW, that remained strong enough to adapt and continue her passion for Nursing Education. Not just that, with a sense of humor and her demonstrated ability to work as if it is no big deal. It is a VERY BIG DEAL! I liked the focus on getting this done, fast! Cheryl in their office is EXTREMELY helpful in doing her best to make sure you have what you need. Cat works alongside Linda. She is the one teaching in the videos, alongside others. Very thorough and very responsive. 2. The curriculum was very detailed, STRUCTURED, and easy to follow. The videos, the written content, the Hartman book), just the right summary of the most essential knowledge and skills we ALL need, and may need at some point in our life. I believe this should be taught in early years of life, no matter what . It REALLY opens one's eyes to phases of human life we remain blind to till we are 'caught in them' or the repercussions of them. 3.The in-person labs had plenty of students, all age groups. 4. First day at the Full Time Full Stack Web Developer program! Checking in now, but will do a full…read morereview once the course is done in 3 months. So far, here are my expectations: - learn a LOT of programming skills - intense days of info overload - build a few apps/websites - make connections with local IT/Developers - begin working as a web developer within a month of graduating Update a few days after graduation: Instead of saying the same thing as everyone else, "the teachers were great, the community is awesome, you learn a lot" blah blah, I figured I would break it down and give detail on everything from my perspective and what I thought of each area. Lecture & Assignments A typical day looks like this: 9:30-12:30pm - Lecture with a 10 min break each hour 12:30-1:30pm - Lunch 1:30-5:30 - work on assignment for the day which is what you learned in lecture I really liked this setup - I learn best in the morning hours, so for me, having lecture first thing was best. In the afternoon everyone typically works in the chapel so you also get to switch up work areas so you're not always stuck in a class room. Homework There's rarely "assigned" homework. Your homework is finishing the project you started in the afternoon, whether you worked solo or on a team. If you did finish the assignment on campus, then it's up to you on how much more you want to work on. I will say this: there's always something to work on. Some people would work on projects until 1am, some people never worked after class was done. This is the part that is up to you - obviously the more you practice the more you'll learn and get ahead, but they also know people have families and other hobbies so that's why you never have to work on anything, Make it your own. You chose the amount you can handle and level of effort you want to put in to the class. Hackathon's There are 2 hackathons, both on Saturdays, and are all day 9-6pm. Each one just tests everything you've learned up until that day before the hackathon. You are put into groups of 4-5 people, are given instructions, then you just work on that app all day. You have to take a mandatory lunch break for at least 30 minutes (I guess Utah law requires a break when you work an 8 hour day), and DPL provides breakfast and lunch. They really aren't bad or scary, they can actually be fun, especially if you are with a good group. At the end of the day, you will present your app to the entire class. The TA's then "grade" your project and they pick one team as the winner from both the full and part time cohort. One of the prizes was a Raspberry Pi. The week that you have a Hackathon end up being a 6-day week so you only get Sunday off. These weeks can make you feel exhausted. Social Events There are 2 social events, ours both ended up being bowling. They are both on a Saturday, typically mid-day. They aren't required, but good to attend so you get to know your classmates and their families outside of school. They are free, and pizza and sodas are provided. Career Services This is a huge area where DPL lacks - there are none. We had a 20 min lecture/presentation on resumes but was very general. It wasn't until the very last week of class that they said we should turn in our resume for review. Here's what I wished they would do: I wish they had a list of all the bootcamp-friendly companies that typically or are willing to hire new grads. I also wished they did mock interviews so that we would feel more confident going into technical interviews. I wish they did some kind of career day event, like have the alumni come back and help with resumes, give talks, help with mock interviews, etc. They always talk about networking and going to meetups, and that's great if you've lived in Utah forever and know a lot of people but for those of us out of state its really hard to connect with the tech community here. Most new grads in my cohort got a job through "a friend of a friend of a friend" and were handed jobs while the rest of us had to put in tons of effort to even get an interview. It really does make a difference of "who you know." We did get to visit on local company and that was nice to able to ask real alums and employers what they are looking for. Before hanging up she brought to my attention that further questions about the process could be answered by another employee who's job it was to "help" in the process. I thought this was a perk of buying their product because nothing was ever mentioned about price. I set up an appointment for the next day and made my way there at the allotted time. When I arrived I was greeted by the receptionist and led to the office of the employee that would answer all my questions. She was very nice and gave off a good vibe. However, another gentleman was there who mentioned he was in training and wanted to see how the "process" works. As we got to talking the "gentleman in training" kept interrupting and soon revealed that he was the director/man in charge. It was revealed that our sit-down was free but that they could help me for a price. As I asked questions he was very hesitant to answer any of my questions because he said, "my job is to make money, and if I teach you how to do this, I won't make any money!" To my surprise I answered that I understood what "he" wanted, but didn't feel like he was giving me what I wanted. He then told me, that if I didn't understand the value of his services, then I could learn the hard way by doing the application process on my own. I responded by letting him know that I didn't mind spending the money, as long as I knew what I was spending it on. He refused to tell me what the process consisted of or any other details. He further told me that if I paid the price of their service that there was no guarantee that I could get the license I was after. After 15 minutes of his pompous attitude and him expressing to me his desire to make money, I kindly commended him for sticking to his "business" philosophy, thanked him and the young lady for their time, and left. This is the first review I have ever written but never before have I had someone try and sell me their product or service by telling me what was most important to them, and never mentioning how it could help me. Maybe it was a bad day or maybe he was trying to impress the young lade. But he just lost someone who was willing to pay for something that would make my life easier.
