The home was built for the Gillis, well-known and wealthy Cleveland family, in 1863. Then, 25 years ago, the home was converted into a bed and breakfast, and 5 years after that, the first floor was converted into a tea room. Every inch is covered in sweet, kitch decor, and tea is for sale at reasonable prices. I can't say enough good things about this tea room. They were so accommodating for our large group and Katie, one of our servers, provided us a run down of the history of the building and business as well as everything that was included in our $25 High Tea experience. Two different types of tea were offered and the meal consisted of a soup or salad, a slice of quiche and fruit, a selection of three tea sandwiches, a scone, banana bread, and an assortment of desserts to finish it all off. It was a lot of food, all delicious and homemade, that was spread out over 2 hours of fun conversation. My favorites of all the food were the scones and Panna cotta. If you don't live in the area, try the bed and breakfast instead of your typical hotel for your next stay in cleveland! And if you are a tea lover, come here for a lovely and fun High Tea experience!

This Residence Inn was pretty solid, I think it really punched above its weight in a few ways…read more First, it had a modern feel. Yes, the room itself was smaller than other properties, but all the furniture and fixtures felt new and worked well. Good shower, good quality mattress, no complaints. In exchange for a smaller room, the common area amenities were great, especially the spacious fitness center. It was a nice space with a good number of cardio machines in addition to the usual chain hotel weightlifting equipment (dumbbells up to 50 lbs, a cable machine, a few benches). There's also a small pool on property, and a nice patio in the back with a modern fire pit. The parking garage is also behind the hotel, and was convenient and easy to use. They charge $25 nightly which felt steep, but it nice to have peace of mind leaving my car there. I liked the location outside the city center (basically on Cleveland Clinic's campus). It was convenient for driving out towards the national park, and still very easy to get into downtown without issue. Overall a solid stay, and a good value!

Did not like the way the shower door opens in relation to the shower head --water sprays out a little. Toiletries like shampoo and conditioner did not smell high end. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast w assorted proteins--egg sausage--carbs--hash browns, cereal etc. Coffee w available to go cups and creamer so you can help yourself. Clean buffet area and clean breakfast area. Spacious room w full kitchen which we did not use. Unclear why we booked this large of a room w amenities we didn't Need or use. But if you stay more than a day--a full sized fridge and kitchen are fire!! I would gladly trade shi-shi toiletries for a good kitchen in that case! This visit (Nov-Dec 2025) is our second time…read morehere, and we were thrilled to find it available because it's sparklingly clean and the hosts are so nice :-) We chose the cute cozy queen-suite, a 2nd-floor 21-step walkup. It's quite private and quiet, with our private bathroom with a shower-tub off a small shared foyer. The hosts maintain a quaint old-fashioned decor of wood walls and furnishings, comfortable chairs with bright knick-knacks here and there. The queen-size bed was firm, with convenient electrical outlets speedy wifi and for us modern travelers. The room was warm, with a small fan that I used early-on. The window had a pretty curtain that kept the room dark and private. There are nearby restaurants, bars, and cafes, including a nice modern Italian and pizza restaurant steps from here, and a delicious Mexican restaurant and taco-bar a short walk south in Shaker Square. The hosts are delightful and communicative. There's a small refrigerator, and they provided coffee k-cups, and teabags. Keep in mind that there's no microwave. Just a week after our previous visit here, we made sure that we our drive brought us back to The Flying Crane Inn on our way home. The hosts met us as we arrived, even though we were heading out immediately for dinner with friends. The room was sparkling clean again, as it always is. When left early in the morning for a long drive to our next stop, the hosts made time for friendly conversation, and they thoughfully packed our continental breakfast to go! In years past these same owners ran a lovely little café here, and they still have a patio garden that can be used for weddings or events. We love these hosts and their Inn :-) We felt very welcome and well-taken-care-of. We will always look here first when we visit Larchmere and Shaker! Well, fast forward a year and I got my wish! My boyfriend and mom spent months planning a Surprise Spooky 25th Birthday Party for me and I absolutely LOVED IT! Not only did we get to have a party here, but we also got to spend the night! Stoked was an understatement. Not only did we get a room, but a majority of my family booked rooms here as well. We had the Peacock room, which was perfect for me considering that blue is my favorite color. Everything was so perfect I hated to mess it up. I had a wonderful time and I wish we could do it all again.

Debra and Tom were great hosts and the house is wonderful. Everything was very clean and the home well maintained. Our room was large and comfortable. The yard is nice and their pet ducks are super cute. Due to COVID the breakfast was scones, fruit, and granola bars. We were also served coffee and tea. The check in and out process was easy. Debra was also very helpful in answering all of our questions about the area and with giving us recommendations of activities, restaurants, and wineries. Next time we are in the area we will stay here again.

Wow What A beautiful B & B! I have been to Ireland…read moreseveral times, the hospitality of the couple that owns this B & B reminds me of the people of Ireland. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable and very clean. They have 4 adorable ducks that greet you when you enter the landscaped backyard. Such a relaxing getaway!
