I lived at The Pointe for about a year. I had my car broken into twice (things stolen each time)…read moreand packages stolen from the hallway outside of the leasing office. In both cases there were no cameras watching those areas so it is a great set up for burglary. The customer service for all of those instances fell along the lines of, "I'm sorry that happened but there is nothing we can do." Which while it may be true, isn't a reassuring feeling. The apartment itself was nice and anything that came up inside of that space was fixed in a timely manner.

I cannot say enough great things about this complex but I'll give you some of my favorite things…read more 1. The staff here are amazing. Keith, my favorite person, who ensures the place looks amazing. Everyday I see him working his tail off to make this place look and feel like the luxury apartment complex it is. All of my issues are addressed quickly and professionally! Keith has been so patient with me as I move in and have requests for things. He's genuine, kind and makes sure I'm happy. Best part about him is how kind he is to me and my fur babies! I trust him in my place and with my dogs when I'm not home. Kelsey was also amazing during my leasing and move in. She was prompt and professional with my millions of emails. She's also my neighbor which makes it cool to have a real resident as a leasing agent who can be honest and passionate about the area. 2. The location is amazing. The community is professional. No sketchy people and everyone's cars are in good shape. 3. The place is so clean. Pool area is beautiful, gym is always spotless and the parking lot is always clean. The landscaping is perfectly manicured and they do a great job making the place look sharp. 4. They are very dog friendly and have the best pet clean up areas I have ever seen. Most of the neighbors enjoy my big ole hounds and it seems that almost everyone has a pet, which is awesome. 5. They do a great job keeping stray walkers out. Being so close to the downtown area, I was worried that there would be more people that walked around they didn't live her. That's simply not happening. Even being along the river walk, people stay on course and mind their business. I have no concerns of theft with my outside decorations and furniture. 6. I feel safe. Period. They make sure the place is lit up and the presence of the police officers that live here is a sure plus. I highly recommend this place. I have a very large, updated, beautiful, spacious apartment which almost feels like a condo or villa, not an apartment.

I found THE PERFECT apartment. The amenities are wonderful! Since Village Green has managed it they've put a lot of quality work into it. If you prefer historic quality over the latest amenities, you'll love it too. I lived there for a year. From the very beginning to my last day, it felt like they cared that I was happy. Pamela in the office is awesome and gave us a tour and history of the place, which thrilled my father in law who tagged along to see the school his parents attended back in the day. They don't have a "show" unit because each apartment is one-of-a-kind, so they'll show you the actual units that are available. I ended up getting a 2-bedroom because it actually cost less than the 1-bedroom options - again, Pamela figured that out for me and didn't try to upsell me just because I came in looking for a 1-bedroom. Who wouldn't want an extra room for free? They had replaced all the appliances and polished the hardwoods and my unit was ready for move-in on time. Living there is comfortable and quiet. The building is clean, and the maintenance and custodial staff always say hello! Their resident portal is active and easy to use. Maintenance requests are answered within a day or two. My electric bill was never more than $40/month despite using heat ALL WINTER...I am a cold girl, but the building is so well insulated that it didn't take much to heat the place even with the 15-foot ceilings. There is central air - unheard of in a historic building! You can control with a thermostat but the whole building is on "heat" Oct-Apr and "cool" May-Sept, which is a bit inconvenient on those unusually warm or cold days in the transitional months but not too bad. They do notify all tenants before the switch happens. Parking is plentiful and the lots are well lit. The school is surrounded by grass on 3 sides and there are pet waste disposal bins. We had no issues with security while I was there, which was a concern I had from reading other reviews, but I think since Village Green took over it's been much better. Of course there are pros and cons to old buildings...for instance, the walls are solid and I rarely heard my neighbors, but some of the windows no longer open. There are no laundry hookups in the units, just a shared room on the first floor which is fine but it's a few dollars per load and sometimes the machines chew up your clothes. Occasionally there are people loitering nearby, but that's downtown South Bend. I enjoy taking walks and frequently walked downtown, but always east and never in the dark. To be clear, the area is older and not the best, but the building itself feels extremely safe. Bottom line: I only moved out because I bought a house. Well, that and the second reason, my only true complaint...my lease renewal offer was too high for me to afford, so I can't speak to the value of this place in the future. However, for me, it was perfect. This was the best place I've ever lived.

First, I'd like to say Anthony from the office is incredible and the neighbors are very friendly…read more Prior to moving here, I was going through a separation with my partner and unaware of the surrounding area. There has been several shootings, as well as two massive structural fires within less than 2 miles around this complex in less than 2 months. Additionally, when I asked if we have cameras in the parking lot I was told no- because there was a shooting in our parking lot that resulted in confiscation of our cameras without return some time back. When reaching out to the property manager of my concerns of safety- because I am a small statured woman living by myself and asked to be able to leave the lease due to heightened crime rate and the lack of safety- Pam, the property manager, did not even bother to try and make me feel any better about the situation. She did not bother to say sorry you feel unsafe and uncomfortable living here, she did not bother making sure I knew if the area was safe, all that was replied with was "You would need to buy out fee. Would you like me to put this notice in for you now?" And was frankly quite rude. This is not a safe area, the complex does not have cameras or security measures, the property manager does not care and concerns will not be made to be better. Thus, I will be living here uncomfortable, feeling unsafe and uneasy for the remaining 9 months.

Well the Foundry lost a star. We have been here three years and, on balance, liked the place. Great…read morelocation, 5-star apartments, wonderful village and stores on the first floor where you can be a part of a neighborhood. Our only real problem was with the maintenance/administrative peeps. This business appears to be getting too big for its staff. When we moved in there were maybe 200 or so apartments - and lovely ones at that. Since then they have built an addition on the south end that probably doubles the number of apartments; now they have another add-on going in pushing the number even further. Our biggest problem is being able to talk to someone - not just leave a message. They are understaffed and overly busy. It was move out for us and we actually did get to talk to an office person - and we set up an appointment for 2 pm to do the final walk-thru on Thursday when leaving. When there we were running late and asked to push it an hour to 3 pm - of course, no one answered the phone so we had to leave a message. Long story short, no one shows up at 3 pm...nor at 3:30 or 4 pm. By 4:30 after calling and leaving a number of other messages we just left. No idea how we'll now do a walk thru but their telephone answering skills are terrible. They just waste their customers time. So in sum the apartments here are all 5 star - this is a great apartment complex and full of opportunities and amenities. The administrative people are always hard to get a hold of, so that is a problem. The one bright spot is Christine - but use email to get a hold of her. Maintenance is spotty - one of the guys we worked with is Larry - a real fine guy...if he promised something he kept his promise, and if he said he would be there at a certain time he was. Larry was tops, but the rest of the maintenance staff left a lot to be desired ... not the least of which is showing up when they said they would. So we will continue calling and see what they want to do for a walk-thru close-out. 5 star apartments, 3 star admin and maintenance staff, not respectful of their customers time ... giving it 4 stars.
