Daisy is amazing! I went in as a walk-in for a quick trim. I haven't cut my hair in a salon in years, I usually just trim my own ends, but I needed to trim my layers. She did a beautiful job, my hair looks super healthy and thick. A small trim made the biggest difference. Going on a healthy hair journey so this was a nice fresh start. This is a good, affordable hair cutting place. For kids, she takes about 15 minutes, and they get a Tootsie Pop. They never complain about getting their hair cut here because she is so fast and focused. For an efficient cut in a clean shop, she gets the job done! She does take walk-ins, but she is really busy, so it's best to call ahead. There is a waiting room space with a television and magazines if you do encounter a wait. read more

We just tried Daisy at University Hair Cut but our experience wasn't great. Simple requests (like leave the sideburns) were confirmed with an "okay" and the next minute straight up ignored. I had not combed his hair and Daisy trimmed straight through ruffled patches without straightening it out first with some water leaving an uneven result. These seem like pretty basic skills for a professional. End result - we're going to have this rescued elsewhere. Unfortunate. read more

Efficient and COVID safe hair salon. I had heard good things about Daisy so I called an made an appointment for 11am on a Monday (holiday weekend). The salon was roped off so only individuals with appointments could enter and the door was kept wide open throughout. Daisy had me in and out in 20 minutes! I have the classic quarantine long hair and was long overdue for a trim and some fresh, face framing layers. Only $25 for a women's haircut and it looks great. Would definitely go again. If you are looking to get back into a routine (or have a lot of members in your household in need of a trim) they have a frequent buyer stamp card that gives you a free hair cut after 10. I can't complain about Daisy's service. This is the second time I came to Daisy and plan on going to her more! She is in a great area of Berkeley and her shop is a vibrant space. She is quick yet efficient. The haircut chains (Supercuts, GreatClips) are not as efficient and definitely not as good (and a little pricey). She is a lovely person to chat with too. Men's haircut is $20 which is a decent price for the bay area. Don't forget to tip your local hairstylists! They also have a punchcard as well! read more

if you have long hair or thinking about doing layers, I do NOT recommend this salon. I had had an appointment today, when I arrived, there were three walk-ins wanting to get their hair rcut I'm heading to a big event on the East Coast, I explained that I am trying to grow my hair out and asked for a trim with very little taken off, just tidied up up, and long enough in the front so I could clip it back and tuck my hair behind my ears. The first snip/cut took off way more than I had expected, then, and trying to get it more "pieces" ,which is what I wanted, it just kept getting shorter and shorter And ....its too short to tuck behind my ears, or wear clipped up out of my face, and way shorter than what I wanted - i've never had hair this short I know in the grand scale of things it's just a haircut, and will eventually grow out. One day I walked in for a haircut, Daisy was booked for the whole day, so I made an appointment for 2 p.m. next day, which looked almost un-booked. Next day I arrived 1:50 p.m. and waited until 2:25 p.m. to be served. There was one walk-in person after me plus one with appointment for 3 p.m. I asked for 1 inch shorter and layered haircut. The whole process took about 15 minutes and Daisy was clearly rushing due the queue. First she cut my hair 2 inch shorter instead of 1 and the rest of 15 min tried to improve the situation. Of cause - no time for layers. And no blow dry just to see how the haircut looks and to fix issues. Later, when my hair dried, I found that layers were somewhat there :( - with some sections 1 inch longer in some random areas (I was forced to deal with this with my own scissors). And a "nice" touch at the end of this so-called haircut is the default minimum tipping amount of 40% on top of $25 (or $30). Never ever I go to this place! read more

The lady here is very friendly, and I wanted to like her, but she books appointments a little too tightly. I called in advance to book an appointment at 10:15. I actually showed up a few minutes late, but this worked out fine because the person ahead of me was still getting their hair cut. I waited about 15 minutes before getting seated. However, in that time, her 10:30 arrived and another gentleman (without an appointment) also walked in. My haircut only took 10 minutes and she was definitely rushing to get the cut done because of the queue. So, can't say I'm thrilled by my experience... She did just an OK job -- it was uneven. I later found a section of hair that's 1.5 inches longer than the rest. Aside from that, the cut was standard. Unexpectedly, the default tipping amount is 40% -- it's a $25 women's haircut rounded to $35. Pretty strange. It seems presumptuous to set it that high as default. read more

I really wanted this hair salon to work. It was super clean and affordable and they seemed to be taking Covid restrictions super seriously. I totally got my hair messed up and it's too short to salvage now, I'll have to grow it out before I can get a rescue cut. I wanted a simple a line bob, but got an asymmetrical bob instead. When she cut off the 10inches of hair I grew out over the pandemic she didn't section it but just used a pair clippers and as a result there is a massive hole in the back of my head where my hair should be. My hair was all different lengths when I got home with weird choppy layers with random short spots and hard corners. I will definitely not be coming back. read more
