Needed a last minute haircut, and found The Haircuts Room. It is place as part of the building that "is" the gas station. The owner has been here in the same location for 30 years! They stayed open late today, to accommodate me, and I enjoyed learning a few things as the husband cut my hair. Excellent haircut in under 12 minutes, I think. $18.00. That's right, a guy with 15 years experience cutting hair, stayed open late, and the bill was $18.00. Please give them your business! Went in this shop because I had 30min to kill. Have been going to a shop that charge $80 for a haircut and beard trim. He charged $24 & it was as good as my $80 $ one. I think l screwed up. I told him about $40 butcher job I got in Montclaire Village. He asked if that included he tip. I informed him that that's what they charge for a haircut and a trim. Big mouth me. I've walked in there several times and was always able to get a very low price haircut. Around $16 and I'll give them a 20 and say keep the change. Much much cheaper than Supercuts and the same quality. My last time I decided to dye my hair. Due to aging it's gone from silver to white. I thought I would play with my hair and see how it goes. They have sample boards of hair strips dyed in different colors in shades of colors. For a mere $60, she trim and cut my hair, washed it, and proceeded to dyed my hair bronze/reddish bronze. The hair stylist, whose name I don't remember said the whole process would take under two hours. She was right I was able to make a 5 PM piano concert on time. I was very pleased with the color. Oh, you do have to wait a week or so to let it set in and then wash out a bit under the shower to see the permanent color. It nicely matched what I selected. I've always dropped in and the last time after a 15 minute wait, they put me in a chair. I would recommend to call ahead for an appointment if you want more than a haircut. I'm not sure if the hair-stylist was there every day, likely sure on weekends. A buddy of mine admired my 'do and decided to go there and dye his hair silver. He wants to be a silver fox! read more

It's a storefront at the local gas station. But it was so convenient to my location and a friend recommended it so I gave it a try and haven't looked back. Usually 1 or 2 stylists here ready to make you happy with how you look. Lea's my favorite. She's quick, knows how to listen to what you want, and is ready for suggestions if you ask. My haircuts in LA and Seattle ran pretty expensive. 2 years now of going here and I haven't been disappointed once. I have to admit that initially I was a bit skeptical about this place, but after reading some of the other great reviews, I decided to give it a go. When I walked in, I was instantly greeted by the Asian woman who I assumed ran the place and asked how I wanted my hair. Once she started cutting my over-long mop, I knew I was in good hands and in no time flat I was sporting a considerably nicer head of hair than when I first arrived; and it was cut to my exact specs. But the biggest surprise was the price - only $12!!! I've spent three times as much at fancier salons, but with lesser results.
