Ellie loves the dog park. Run free, baby!

Good dog park. Our fur babies love it. The trail around the lake is lovely and well marked. Please be cognizant of other dog owners and especially your dog(s). Accidents and incidents are prevented by proactive owners!!! Also be wary of beavers. Other than that, about the best time in Anchorage for free! Everything on the property is policed by Anchorage Animal Care and Control. To see dog park rules, go to www.muni.com.

Great loop trail around the lake with a grassy area for pups to mingle. My guy likes to play in the water with other pups. I've made a couple of friends here too! Trail feels safe but I'm giving this park 4 stars because cars are frequently broken into at this park. On my third visit, at 8 pm on a weeknight I came back after an hour to find my passenger window broken and a bag of makeup id left on the front seat gone. Be aware- hide everything in your car. Don't park if there are no other cars around!

Great place to bring the mutts. Would recommend it to everyone with a dog. And I better not see someone not cleaning up after their pet or you will be hearing from me.~!

Love this dog park, walked my Siberian Husky (Kodiak) here for 12 years until his recent passing. Great place to socialize your dog to get along with other dogs. .... I have a fun black pug now, and he has been going here for 3 years and hopefully many more to come!

Fun place great to socialize our pup! People are responsible with their waste and making sure their dog is friendly.

There are occasional party pooper owners who don't clean up after their pooch, but I have to say most do.

It looks like this park has fallen by the wayside lately…read more The grounds are nice enough, but it's not very well taken care of. There's lots of litter. There are drunk people passed out. It feels a tad bit "unsafe". I'd avoid coming here alone. That said, it is one of the only (the only?) fenced in dog parks.

There's 5 or 6 designated "off leash" parks in Anchorage, but if Fido is exactly trust worthy off leash, this is your spot. It's surprisingly and mercifully poop-free. Thankfully it seems people actually do understand and take to heart the implications of not cleaning up after their furry charges. It's seems dog ownership is a fraternity of sorts in Anchorage and they're a lovely group of friendly people who enjoy interacting with each other as much as the fluffy puppies. It's quite lovely. As for the park itself, it's just the right size with the perfect mix of trees, open space, sun and shade. There's a few benches in the shady side for lazy dog owners, but I do wish there were a few perches on the sunny side so I could work on my Alaska tan while Fido burns off some energy. All in all, this is a great little park. There's even a small assortment of playground equipment outside the doggy area.

But this park is also plagued with chronic drug and alcohol addicted folks who trash public areas, including human waste. This park has insufficient parking- which is split into two separate locations. One is on the west side and the other on the north east side. The NE parking lot is where you dealers and users can typically be found. Families and children are more typically found in the west parking lot. It's common to see fish and moose along in this park on this section of Chester Creek Trail. There's a cute little playground here as well on the west side. There are some very pretty bridges in this section of the trail also. This is also one of the few locations where the creek is low enough for people to safely wade during the summer. The salmon viewing pier was condemned a few years ago and it doesn't seem like the city had any plans to fix it since it was a hangout for using. There are many varieties of plants, flowers, berries and birds found here, which make it a lovely greenspace for people and animals alike.

There is also a large dog park and there are various trails. There are spots to grill and picnic, and a shallow area of the creek in which people both small and large can play. There are birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and beautiful vegetation surrounding you right in the heart of the city. My two drawbacks - this is a pretty popular spot for people with kids, so don't expect it to be quiet unless you hit it on off-hours; and when packed, parking can be a bit much. *Don't forget to bring your inflatable raft so you can float down the creek to Peanut Farm when you leave* *Bring cash for the ice cream truck*
