As first-time dog owners, we tried our best to train Millie on our own, but it just wasn't cutting it. We constantly struggled with obedience and her inability to listen to us, intense pulling when we went on walks, jumping, getting mouthy - the list goes on and on. We felt defeated and insecure - but as soon as we talked with Jean and Linda at NJ Fix My Dog, we felt hopeful! They assured us Millie was the kind of dog that could be helped, and they'd be happy to step in.  Throughout Millie's 2 week bootcamp, we received frequent updates from Linda on Millie's progress, photos, and videos. We missed her but we knew she was in excellent care and learning so much everyday. After the 2 week bootcamp, Linda brought Millie home and we were in shock at how well-behaved, and well-mannered suddenly became. The day she came home, Linda spent over an hour with us going over what Millie learned and how to work with her going forward. She also gave us a full document with an assessment of Millie's overall behavior, how to continue to enforce what she learned, and how encourage her along the way.  Before bootcamp, we dreaded going for a walk with Millie because of how she behaved when she saw other dogs (pulling toward them, whimpering, getting anxious, etc.), and how she walked in general (tugging and zig-zagging the entire walk). Now she walks like an absolute DREAM! Right at our side, a nice little trot, ignores other dogs, people, squirrels - everything! We could walk her all day long now, and we look forward to all our walks! Millie used to ignore us when we called for her, or told her "no" if she was doing something we didn't like, but now her recall skills are excellent and she runs right over to us when we call her. She doesn't even try to attempt the bad behavior she used to do, like jumping, getting mouthy, etc., and instead happily relaxes. Her overall demeanor used to be just a little bit intense, always on the lookout for something to get into - but now she is so calm and seems at east with herself. Linda worked WONDERS! We learned so much about Millie through this process, and we truly feel comfortable with what Linda taught us to help Millie be her best self. We feel like we have the tools we need, and the confidence. We feel the support of NJ Fix My Dog now even after Millie is back home - we know Linda is just a call or text away if we need any help.

Our rescue was already a great, well-behaved dog, but she had some counter surfing habits from her prior life experience and we also wanted to prepare her to become a therapy dog. She learned the foundations of all the basics we expected during that two weeks, and Erin showed us how to keep consistent with her at home. I am sure all the trainers are great but we are partial to Erin as she really has a great personality for this, she is energetic and connected really well with our dog. This now opened more doors for him which we had him signed up for GDC training and sent to him off to train further with their top trainer. After completing his training for a month he was brought home by his trainer, and we were trained on how to continue on how he was trained repetitively. We discussed further training with his trainer that day about guard dog training, and he agreed that he would train him further and to call for scheduling. Now this is where things go not good. We have called multiple times to schedule with his trainer and we were told that they would get back to us. They did not get back to us and several weeks went by. We called again speaking with Lauren who assured me that they would call me back about guard dog training because she needed to speak with the owners about the schedule. No phone call was returned from her. So we called again and spoke with Danielle who informed that they were not doing any guard dog training, and they don't know when they will again!This is a K9 training facility that does all types of training! Why are we now being told that you Don't train for guard dogs when our personal trainer who had our pup at his training facility and trained him told us that you do? Then I asked if they could recommend another facility that trained for guard training and we were told that they would email several recommendations to us. Again they didn't send us any emails referring us to other facilities! Why after being with Garden State K9, and bringing our pup to their facility for training for months to graduate the S.T.A.R. Program so he could continue on working with this facility that trained for everything we were told by the way. As well as seen Private sessions with our trainer before we had our pup trained by him. On top of the Thousands of Dollars we have paid this facility and we never had a single problem. So we don't understand why they have treated us like this after so long training with them? We had no issues paying their fees for training and we would have gladly continued to pay for his training advancement fees. This is why we are Not sure as a rating. We gave 3 Stars for their great training. They lost 2 Stars because they treated us poorly we feel. Jenny is an absolute dream…read more On Aug 1 of 2010, we adopted a rescue; a maltese. We named him 8Bit. They told us when we took him home that he had some problems with being left alone. We didn't quite realize to what extent they meant. Once we had him for a few days, we had reports from neighbors of barking and kept coming home to huge messes (pee, poo, and chewing things up). Our 5ish year old had been found on the streets of Queens with both his back legs not working & had apparently been abandoned thus causing him to develop a severe case of separation anxiety. He simply could not be left alone for longer than a minute without acting out. We tried doing things ourself for a while, but we finally decided we should invest in a dog trainer around September. The important thing to remember here is that dog trainers do not exist simply to come & train your dog, but rather to give you the tools that you need to help modify your pup's behavior. It took the better part of a year, but since then, 8Bit has been so much better. I still can't believe this is the same dog we brought home over a year ago. Now we can leave him alone all day if we need to. Jenny was patient with us & with 8Bit in helping us move in little steps to get 8Bit to a place where he could be more calm & comfortable in his new home(s) (we've moved a few times since then). Not to mention, Jenny consistently went above & beyond by answering questions via email even when not in sessions & watching live streams of 8Bit at home alone to observe behavior even without being prompted to do so even once. My girlfriend and I both feel confident now in correcting his behavior and introducing positive incentives when we see something else we need to correct. I could not be happier with the results we got from our sessions with Jenny. We love our little man and we're so happy that Jenny helped us help him to be a calmer happier pup.
