We read all the negative reviews but decided we would go to Milford Animal Hospital because no other vets within 30 miles would see a new patient sooner than a month. We are glad we went. Everything was professional, the staff was extremely friendly, and Dr. Grasso explained everything. Our dog had a cyst in the skin on his back that was leaking and needed to be removed. Doctor Grasso suggested laser surgery. After we researched it we realized that was the best surgery; it leads to fewer infections, less pain, and faster healing. Everything went perfect. When our dog was able to get his hind leg miraculously up and start to scratch the incision line on his back we took him back on short notice and Dr.Grasso very diligently examined the suture line and then dressed it and suggested we put a surgery suit on him. That worked like a miracle. We have only good things to say about our experience and recommend everybody give Dr. Grasso and his staff a chance. And, no, we are not related to him :)

On Monday, June 29, 2026, I witnessed a young couple bring in a badly injured baby deer. After…read moretalking to the couple, I got the full story of what had happened.     The couple witnessed a hit and run on the baby deer on Milford road. There was no cell service to call the authorities, so they took the baby deer to the nearby Milford Animal Hospital. The entire time, the baby deer was crying in pain and had blood spurting out of its mangled hind legs.     When they got to hospital, most of the staff, with the exception of one, were hesitant for an hour to help. All the couple wanted was a sedative for the baby deer to calm it down and stop the suffering but were informed they needed to pay $150 for the shot. Again, the baby deer was crying in pain and bleeding. The Pike County Game Warden eventually came to take the baby deer. It was at that moment the staff came out to administer the shot but were informed by the Game Warden that it was too late.     The Game Warden left with the baby deer and when the couple tried to leave, the staff stopped them and informed them that they had to pay $150 for the shot that was never administered.     Absolutely heartless. All Milford Animal Hospital cares about is money and not the well-being of animals. I know for a fact that other animal hospitals have euthanized deer or at least sedated them until they can figure out what to do next. Their lack of sympathy and compassion calls into question Milford Animal Hospital's treatment and care of animals.

My cats, Ben & Mosi, had their first visit yesterday. What a wonderful experience we had. Dr. Lucas is gentle, kind and caring. All of the staff and the receptionist were very friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with the overall experience we had. I definitely made the best choice!

Every appointment seems to introduce a new employee, and after what I've personally witnessed, that lack of continuity is concerning but not surprising. The exam rooms do not have doors, which already creates an uncomfortable environment. During procedures, there is always a staff member assisting with restraint. When my dog naturally reacted by moving his leg during a blood draw (a completely normal response), the atmosphere in the room instantly became tense. One staff member looked genuinely afraid--not because anyone had done anything wrong, but because of the doctor's reaction. Across multiple separate visits, I have personally observed Dr. Larry throw a used needle across the room, past an employee's head, into the sink. I've also heard repeated belittling remarks toward staff and witnessed behavior that clearly undermines and intimidates employees in front of clients. His short temper and apparent anger issues are not subtle, and it is deeply unprofessional to treat staff this way--especially in a medical setting involving animals and sharp instruments. Dr. Larry openly gave a harsh, intimidating glare in front of me, making the entire appointment extremely uncomfortable. I wasn't even the patient, and I still felt uneasy. While Dr. Larry does appear passionate about the animals themselves, his passion is overshadowed by his treatment of employees in his establishment and the consistent pressure toward the most expensive treatment options, products, or plans. It often feels less like a balanced discussion of care and more like a push toward the highest-cost solution, leaving me unsure whether those recommendations are truly the best option or simply the most profitable. That said, the rest of the staff is genuinely kind and caring. Dr. Luke is knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate, and the receptionist--who is Dr. Larry's wife, despite how she is spoken to--is incredibly sweet and always goes above and beyond to help. Their kindness is honestly the only reason I've continued returning. Unfortunately, no amount of friendly staff can fully compensate for an environment that feels tense, uncomfortable, and at times unsafe. Professionalism, respect, and emotional control matter just as much as medical expertise, and this practice falls short in that regard.

I was put on a waiting list on Friday and on Saturday they were able to accomodate me. The entire staff of reception, vet techs and Dr. Barnhorst could not have been any nicer and more respectful. I had taken this cat twice to my regular vet and I got the distinct feeling over the phone that they would want to run diagnoatic tests prior to agreeing to euthanize my cat. The only thing that Tri State required was vaccination records. Dr. Barnhorst made the offer to let my cat live outside on her farm. It was a generous offer but I declined it since the cat had significant urination issues, had a recent case of digestive upset and had vomited yesterday, The cat lived inside all his life and I was looking to end his pain because he was a very stressed out kitty as of late waking me at 4:00 a.m. to eat. They did not make me fill out tons of paperwork which was very appreciated. In advance I made the decision to take the kitty home with me for burial. Having heard the cost for group cremation, I thought their pricing was very fair in compare to the crematorium quote I had received from a facility in Milford, PA. In the end we opted for home burial. The entire process was the least stressful I have seen. The cat received a sedative injection. When he was all relaxed she shaved a spot on his leg and administered the euthansia fluid into a vein in his leg. I am glad they did not need to use a catheter because that always stresses the pet out. They wanted to give me a cardboard box to take my kitty home but I declined since it was easier to put him in the bag I brought, then put him in the carrier and bring him home for burial. If my other three cats need veterinary care, I will definitley bring them back to this practice.
