It is Black Friday today and there were many people when I go to Best Buy. There are other great places to go such as Century 25, Texas Roadhouse, and In-And-Out Burger. Very nice and convenient shopping place for Union City locals to go to. I was little when I seen those places and am quite surprised that they are still here. Quite unfortunate that Fuddruckers is permanently closed here, but at least that they have The Habit, which I never went during my childhood years.

Drivers heading eastbound who continue on Route 92 will pass by Jackson Square as Rt 92 becomes West Jackson Street in Hayward. I have worked in the Hayward area for over 25 years, and Jackson Square has a nice location. It's near the freeway ramps, it's down the street from the Courthouse and County Offices, It's near the DMV, and it's located near apartments and residential areas. I was just there yesterday, taking a break before getting on the San Mateo Bridge. West Jackson becomes Route 92, which takes you to the bridge. So lots of traffic passes by here. The anchor store is the Safeway, along with a CVS and 24-hour Fitness. Attention getting brands such as Starbucks, Taco Bell, Fire Wings, Round Table Pizza, Chase Bank, and a Baskin-Robbins are also tenants. Although Jackson Square is on Jackson Street, it's easier to enter and exit on Amador Street. Plenty of parking in off street lot. How could it be better? Maybe add a few more restaurants or cafes. Although our one Anchor is gone (Rite-Aid), we still have Grocery Outlet and Dollar Tree. We have four fast food spots, (5 if you count Taco Bell/KFC separately) which all have drive thrus. So there's Jack in the Box, Subway, Sonic & Taco Bell/KFC. There are a few sit down restaurants - Taqueria Los Gallos 2 (my favorite, but their Super Burritos are pricey. Love the pico de gallo), Mountain Mike Pizza & Amy's Cafe & Grill (breakfast spot). There's a flower shop that has been around for a while. There's a Banquet Hall, Jewelry store/Watch Repair, Mail/Shipping Center, Smoke Shop, Bakert (Which sells custom cakes, cupcakes and Macarons), Gym, Hair Salon, Optometrist and maybe there's still a Cleaners in the back. This is a solid shopping center in the downtown area. I'm attempting to review all of the places in the center and almost forgot to review the center itself! There is a nice selection of food, services and shopping here. There is a Walgreens for your home and personal needs, including prescriptions. My only complaint about the center is that the parking is less than desirable. It's always a waiting game no matter when I go. I usually ah e to park and walk a little bit to get to my desired location. All in all, this is a nice little shopping area for our town. I'd be even happier if things stayed open later but as long as a double check hours before going, I am usually good to go.

I have worked in the Hayward Business Park for over 20 years, and I didn't know this place was known as the "Hesperian Shopping Center." It's more like a plaza, with 4 major tenants in one building. They are- Walgreens, Office Depot, Mattress Firm, and Starbucks. I sometimes stop here, but I have never been in the Mattress Firm. The most active tenant is probably the Walgreens. It has a drive-up Pharmacy window on the side of the building. The shopping center has lots of parking in front, on the sides, and small lot on the Walgreens side. At the rear of the building are the loading docks. The building has an overhang so people can have shelter from rain or sun. There's benches and landscaping is well kept. Overall, it's a well maintained shopping center. Located at Hesperian and West Winton, next to the Valero gas station. Free parking

Update: after coming to the Village Shopping Center additional times since my above comment had been notarized, there are days or perhaps certain times of the day where the parking lot appears empty and it is easy to find parking, while on the majority of times / days I have been - they are usually packed with hardly any parking avail. Sometimes I have been lucky to snag a spot where someone was just about to back out. The spaces are kind of tight and narrow pathways, drive slowly! There are a lot of businesses that have remained here since I was a child and student at CVHS. Lots of new fronts and name changes to others. I haven't taken a stroll around the entire center, but there's a drug store, ice cream parlor, discounted home goods, apparel stores, fitness businesses, specialty goods and boutiques, bakeries, coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, the bowling alley is still here, nail salons, juicers, and more. Since its the holiday time, they had a tree lighting ceremony advertised. I thought that was a nice community event that might bring people and families together, though I questioned where the tree was going to be due to the tight space. I would want this center to continue to have a lot of business - good businesses here. I want to see CV's downtown area become an area that I would like to frequent or go to vs. driving to Danville or Walnut Creek or San Ramon. I hope there would be ways to create more parking around the area while increasing the businesses or being strategic in which new businesses should open to create a thriving atmosphere.
