And I always liked the location, right off of the 880 freeway in Hayward, very easy to get to!!!

Pretty boring to walk around, yet convenient for Hayward and neighboring residents who don't want to drive to Valley Fair to shop.

I have worked in the Hayward area for over 25 years, and Jackson Square has a nice location. It's near the freeway ramps, it's down the street from the Courthouse and County Offices, It's near the DMV, and it's located near apartments and residential areas. I was just there yesterday, taking a break before getting on the San Mateo Bridge. West Jackson becomes Route 92, which takes you to the bridge. So lots of traffic passes by here. The anchor store is the Safeway, along with a CVS and 24-hour Fitness. Attention getting brands such as Starbucks, Taco Bell, Fire Wings, Round Table Pizza, Chase Bank, and a Baskin-Robbins are also tenants. Although Jackson Square is on Jackson Street, it's easier to enter and exit on Amador Street. Plenty of parking in off street lot. How could it be better? Maybe add a few more restaurants or cafes. I used to shop at the various stores here on a regular basis without any problem. Being an older…read moredisabled person it takes me longer to do my shopping and I often have to take breaks in my vehicle between visiting the different stores. This hadn't been a problem in the past. However, recently the property management has taken a turn for the worse with parking enforcement now routinely banging on my vehicle and telling me there's a 2 hour time limit, even though there are no signs posted saying such. I do drive a larger vehicle because my disability requires me to lay down and take a break when needed. This may be the reason I'm targeted, because I might appear outwardly to be a financially struggling "homeless" person. I've seen numerous other "regular" looking vehicles parked for hours on end and they aren't subjected to the same harassment. It's a shame because I used to shop here frequently - even if it took me half a day to get all my shopping done. I guess they're harassment tactics and targeting of those who appeared to be financially disadvantaged is designed to help them reach some appearance proper middle class social status. And though my inclination is probably what they want, to just take my business elsewhere, I think I may still come here to shop while putting my disabled placard in the window and letting them knock their knuckles to their hearts content.

Sometimes I have been lucky to snag a spot where someone was just about to back out. The spaces are kind of tight and narrow pathways, drive slowly! There are a lot of businesses that have remained here since I was a child and student at CVHS. Lots of new fronts and name changes to others. I haven't taken a stroll around the entire center, but there's a drug store, ice cream parlor, discounted home goods, apparel stores, fitness businesses, specialty goods and boutiques, bakeries, coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, the bowling alley is still here, nail salons, juicers, and more. Since its the holiday time, they had a tree lighting ceremony advertised. I thought that was a nice community event that might bring people and families together, though I questioned where the tree was going to be due to the tight space. I would want this center to continue to have a lot of business - good businesses here. I want to see CV's downtown area become an area that I would like to frequent or go to vs. driving to Danville or Walnut Creek or San Ramon. I hope there would be ways to create more parking around the area while increasing the businesses or being strategic in which new businesses should open to create a thriving atmosphere.

I usually ah e to park and walk a little bit to get to my desired location. All in all, this is a nice little shopping area for our town. So there's Jack in the Box, Subway, Sonic & Taco Bell/KFC. There are a few sit down restaurants - Taqueria Los Gallos 2 (my favorite, but their Super Burritos are pricey. Love the pico de gallo), Mountain Mike Pizza & Amy's Cafe & Grill (breakfast spot). There's a flower shop that has been around for a while. There's a Banquet Hall, Jewelry store/Watch Repair, Mail/Shipping Center, Smoke Shop, Bakert (Which sells custom cakes, cupcakes and Macarons), Gym, Hair Salon, Optometrist and maybe there's still a Cleaners in the back. "Greenhouse Marketplace" is a large open-air shopping mall in San Leandro, CA. It was opened in the…read moremid-1980's, and its website says it currently has 44 tenants. It's got a prime location right next to the I-880 & I-238 freeway junction. Why is it called "Greenhouse" Marketplace? Because before this triangular piece of land was developed into a shopping center, it was the home of rows of greenhouses. You could see them from the freeway. Long rows of glass topped greenhouses. Today it's home to a variety of stores, shops, and restaurants. It's a nice place to stop and take a break while passing thru town. Anchor stores include- Safeway, CVS, and FoodMaxx. What's negative about this place? There are some empty storefronts. The parking lot has a weird design. It probably looked fine on paper, but in reality, it's like "free style" driving. Cars are coming from different directions and there seems to be a lack of stop signs and/or traffic flow signage. Then some people think it's okay to just drive across empty parking spaces. I've never had a problem because I always stop before someone runs into me. But if you are in the area of Lewelling Blvd & I-880, drop by and visit the Greenhouse Marketplace. If you enter from Washington Ave, you will be greeted by a McDonalds and a Jack in the Box. Lots of free parking!
