I lived at the University Pointe apartments back in 2018. These are by far the worst apartments on Glenna Goodacre. The dryer in my unit was broken for a whole year and after complaining daily, the staff at the front office did not care and never fixed the issue. I had to go to the washateria to dry clothing. Then, the microwave wouldn't warm food properly only keeping it cold. The maintenance staff do not care either. The office staff is terrible and will treat you like you aren't anything valuable to them. I had to get the lawyer on campus to help me get out of my lease because the unit that they leased me was not ready, but instead it was uninhabitable to live in and they did nothing when they paired with me a 56yo woman with her vicious dog. The 56yo roommate wasn't even a student and she hogged every space in the kitchen. She would ask me where I was going to and from. Every single time I'd come into the apartment, her little dog would bite at my ankles. I reported this to the management and they did NOTHING! I was told that they couldn't do anything because equal housing rights. I was told by the lawyer on campus that the property manager is by far the worst to deal with and he always receives complaints from parents. Thankfully, Tech has a lawyer on campus that advocated for me to allow me to move to The Village at Overton Park. It was like a 360 flip when I went over there, it was a much better choice! read more

I wish I could give zero stars! This is by far one of the worst student living apartment complexes you could live in. The only positive is the location--everything else is a nightmare. The front office is run by other college students who clearly don't care, and management is even worse. Maintenance has entered my apartment multiple times while no one was home, without any notice--even though my profile specifically says "knock first before entering." They completely ignore it. They rarely communicate. Anytime you ask about something, they'll say, "We're sending an email out today"--but it never happens. When we moved in, nothing worked properly. Our washer and dryer had to be replaced three separate times. This place feels like it's run by children. I would absolutely never recommend living here. Our washer/dryer has broken at least five times and we can't get a new one, and our stove/oven smokes every time you use it and sets off the fire alarm. This is after multiple cleans and scrubbing basically until my hands hurt. Fridge/freezer is meh at best. It makes weird sounds and sometimes the freezer pops open if you close the fridge. Cabinets are really flimsy. One of the drawers didn't have a bottom when we moved in. Multiple outlets were painted over and are unusable, especially in the kitchen Lot of water damage everywhere on the ceiling Realistically, the apartment could be worse, and I know that. The laundry room door was broken and they came to fix it a couple days later which is awesome! But, I told them to only fix it when I was home. In the picture I added it says "Permission to Enter: No". The guy walked in without knocking then immediately apologized. I was naked on the couch with a blanket on, like goodness gracious! One of the desk ladies was very nice to me while moving in and the guy at the other desk was pretty cool too. What I don't like is how they gave us 3 floor plan options so if the first one we wanted was unavailable. I asked for (1) 3 Bed- 3 Bath, (2) 3 Bed- 3 Bath Penthouse, and (3) 4 Bed- 4 Bath. They said the installment rate would be $619. I ended up getting a 2 Bed- 2 Bath, with an installment rate of $724. The new pool is ok, the bricks are super hot to walk on though. But otherwise so far it's alright. read more

For context- I've lived here for two years and am not renewing this come around. Too little pros that can't outweigh the cons of this apartment. Sure, living close to campus is perfect! But if you walk on a rainy day, you will get soaked from your feet almost to your knees. Their "drainage" (a river of running water that spans across the last building, through the entrance and exit, and through the first building's parking lot. If you live in the first or last building, you're screwed if you try to walk out to your car, much less walk to class. This place doesn't look bad on the outside as they present their "curb appeal" that Dakota, the manager, will try and hook you in with. If you're a student who just came out of the dorms, you will be taken advantage of. I'm sure Dakota doesn't make the rent prices. But hell, making the apartment look the price shouldn't be too hard. Could start with replacing outdated and broken furniture. Now for some less specific reasons NOT to live here. -RoomSync sucks and UPointe doesn't care who it matches you with. -Door gates stay open during the day, had a homeless person follow me inside of the complex once -The car gates rarely seem to work, are broken just about every two weeks. -Complex Gym is nice! But then they keep the temperature at probably the hottest it can get during the summer seasons especially. -Doors in units are the jankiest pieces of wood ever, you'd think they would replace them if they make a hard scraping noise each time they close! -Instead of fixing problems, they cut corners to make it seem fixed. I had a washer leak and A/C leak that seeped through the wall and floor boards and into my room from multiple spots. Instead of making sure there was not any water damage (there definitely is and was before I got here as well) they just caulked the wall-floor border. Interesting. -Major bug problem year round, however they only came in once to do routine bug spraying. -When renewing they WILL lie to you. Will you get charged $300 again for having a pet because the renewing lease says you will? "No! You shouldn't be charged." I got charged! After weeks, almost a month, of going back and forth with the useless bookkeeper, I finally got refunded. I used to advocate for this place and show it off! "Wow I only pay $600 to live here!" Almost brainwashed, and that's why I renewed last year bc the money was more important than the red flags. However, if you take a quick little search at other apartments (non-student living and even rental homes) you will find much cheaper options that are worth living in. I get it, if you're a sophomore you still want to be a little comfortable and live nearby campus, but I promise you, it's not worth it. Pros- -Close to campus -close to food -decent room sizes Cons- -Management and Community Assistants are awful and rude/ never actually answer your questions because they never know what they're talking about. -they never put anything on the stairs or sidewalks when it snows or gets icy to prevent people from falling. -Maintenance never announces that they are coming in, they barge in without notice, and they neglect the "no permission to enter" when stated on service requests. -they hold your packages for days at a time before they actually email you to come pick it up. Do not live here if you can. I am currently on year 2 of living here. The condition of the building we live in can be disgraceful at times. The gate is usually broken. Plenty of non-residents can be seen using the lot to get to campus during the day. Had a truly awful experience with management. A random roommate moved in back in May. The guy smoked weed in the apartment non-stop. My friends and I left for 3 weeks at the start of summer, when I returned the entire apartment was a mess. Smelled of cigarettes and marijuana, food and trash everywhere, his furniture was in the living room, smoke detectors had been cut out from the ceiling. Him and his friends had broken into our rooms to use the restroom and allow his friends to crash in our rooms. One of my roommates had been robbed and someone had clearly lived in his room the entire summer. I brought up my concerns with management but was met with condescension. They would not do anything about the smoking or living conditions. "That is what happens when you live with random people". The guy completely vandalized our apartment and got away with it from what we can tell. The general manager has either been removed or stepped down but I seriously doubt anything changes. This has to be the worst of the apartments near Tech's campus in terms of customer service, among other things. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!! Management is rude, careless & attitudes are terrible like ALL THE OTHER REVIEWS SAY! They desperately need new managers, it's true. Not sure if he's still there, but Casey was the name, specifically, of the one I had the most issues with, he was always so condescending and brushed off every concern and question as if there was 'nothing he could do.' (He had several issues with my parents too, because often he did treat residents like children and won't listen to us as other reviews mentioned as well, and my dad would have to call and literally argue, kinda embarrassing and also makes you feel taken advantage of.) My family and I carefully researched several apartments in Lubbock for months before I moved 1500 miles away from home into my first apartment because we wanted to make sure I would have a place to live where I felt safe and cared for, and we ultimately decided to sign at Upointe because of its convenient distance from Tech and reasonable prices, and the student employee who gave us our tour was an absolute angel. I can't write a review without thanking Paula for being so kind, including during my entire residency there. The student workers were all great when I lived there. HOWEVER, the management staff has TERRIBLE attitudes and are so incredibly careless about the wellbeing or satisfaction of residents if you come to them with any concern regarding ANYTHING and everything, it's beyond clear that they're only there to get a check. If I tried to list all the 'tough conversations' both I and my family had with them, I really don't think it would even fit on this page, but I just really don't think they're willing to help or listen to anyone at all. It definitely made moving to my first year away from home very difficult and uneasy, so if a community where you feel safe and cared for is important to you when apartment searching, I would recommend looking other places. read more

I have lived here for going on 4 years, each year they have topped the insanity and stress that i did not think they could beat. The maintenance/office will not even announce themselves before coming into your apartment, so enjoy the heart attack of thinking random men are breaking into your house. The office staff will routinely refuse to give me my mail/packages because they are too busy playing grab --- with each other. I am severely allergic to pet dander, and have noted it to great extent... and yet i am ROUTINELY paired with people who have pets. I have been sick for years and the office has each year has told me in summary to piss off. Theres mold, broken ---- that will never be fixed until you berate them to look at it, the gates dont work, the fence is falling down, the pool is constantly either green or filled with glass, that new pavement they put in is already crumbling off, do you like having the paint scratched off your vehicle because they will constantly do that by throwing rocks and dirt and branches all over it when they do "upkeep". Do you enjoy slipping, falling and cracking your skull against the pavement in winter? Well you will, with their watering of the grass, excuse me, their watering of the pavement and sidewalk. Not to mention that guy that got that guy that got murdered in 2022 and they said they "have the right, not the obligation to maintain security". Enjoy having infinite stress and dealing with deranged donkeys that wont offer an ounce of sympathy or resolution. Lived here for almost one year and rent keeps going up but the quality is still just as bad. Our hot water is grey and milky. Little ants come out of the walls. Cheap appliances and furniture. Also go over the electric limit every month you have to run the heater. Will definitely be moving elsewhere as soon as the lease is up. read more

Pros: Location is about perfect. Restaurant adjacent, close to campus, and when Leonard's was open, there was even easy grocery shopping. Cons: Management is hard to reach, they sent back packages I had received, I got an outrageous move out bill, there were loud drunk people outside my window every night, and if you get out on the northern side of the complex, parking becomes an absolute nightmare. I wouldn't recommend university Pointe to anyone. Ever. University trails, the ave, university fountains, the grove, seriously, there are many better properties to live at. Honestly, just don't live here. Staff is rude, amenities are always closed, and the property is not well taken care of at all. It's very expensive for what you get. Only plus side is that it's close to campus but that also means it's super loud. Elevators are also never working and the staff doesn't take any complaints seriously. We've had a guy singing below us for an entire year at all hours of the day and night and have probably put in 5-6 noise complaints and nothing has been done. This place is a decent place to live. It's nothing fancy but it's not horrible either. It's really close to campus which is nice. You can easily walk to class or to games without having to pay a parking fee. The apartment itself is okay, it could use a few upgrades. We had maintenance issues from the moment we moved in. But the maintenance man responded to our maintenance requests really quickly and was super nice. He fixed anything we ask him to. The room size is big. The closets are big. You get your own bathroom. The common area is a good size. It's pet friendly. The walls are really thin so you can easily hear any noise your roommates or your neighbors or anyone outside is making. But it's not too bad. The amenities are nice; I like the gym. All the equipment in the gym has been good and hasn't broken except for the stair stepper. The pool is also closed cause it looks like they're redoing it and idk why. I overheard a tour guide say it should be open for the next year of renters. I haven't really spoken with management so I can't say whether they're bad or not. I haven't had too many experiences with the car gate being broken but the gate closest to campus that you can walk through was broken earlier this year. That was super annoying cause you had to walk farther to go around. But they fixed it and all is good now. But overall it's decent. I pay $574 (for a four bedroom with a pet fee of $30 included) I wouldn't pay anything more than that because it's not that nice. This year they have already raised the prices to $574 (for a four bedroom without pet fee included) or possibly even more, I haven't checked. Everywhere is raising their prices though so that's up for you to decide if it's worth it. read more

Well I had to give this place one star in order to move on to write this review....it doesn't even deserve one star! This place is completely horrible! Nothing every works, maintenance takes it's sweet time to come fix anything but never really fixes it so you have to continue to call, and management has changed several times! if you talk to one person in the office they give you one answer, then talk to another...you get an entirely different answer! No one ever seems to know what is going on! Management now is very condescending and treats their tenants like children! There are tons of other places right in the same area that are so much better to live with great amenities and much friendlier people as I have now met several different people who live in these other places and have visited their apartments! I have lived at University Pointe for two years. You pay an outrageous amount of rent for a shitty apartment. I originally sucked it up because it is so close to campus, until every student at Texas Tech realized this as well and parks in the parking lot, making you have nowhere to go. Since the management are a bunch of passive aggressive assholes (even a few student workers) who don't seem to care about their tenants, they will not tow these cars, but threaten to tow yours if you park in visitor parking. This place is absolutely terrible. They have gone through 3 general managers in the last 9 months. Anytime my roommates and I reported an issue, the staff would blow us off. It got to the point that maintenance would only be completed if one of our parents called and complained. Corporate had to be involved several times because of ridiculous charges made to mine and my roommates accounts. The last time I had maintenance done in my room, I noticed that the things in my bathroom have been moved around when the problem was not even in my bathroom. I hate living here and I feel disrespected every time I walk into the front office. I had a major complaint made against one of the residents last October, and when I tried to contact someone about the issue, I had been informed that my complaint, my restraining order against the resident, and other proof had been thrown away by the general manager. I lived here about a year. I was planning to sublease my apartment and signed a form with them stating that I wanted to sublease. I ended up moving earlier then expected, but left a portion of my belongings behind. Without notifying me (or my old roomate) they entered my apartment and took my remaining belongings and threw them away. when I asked them, I was lied to and told that they were in storage. after inquiring for a long period of time, and yelling, I was informed that they had thrown it out, and that I could not get it back.According to them, Legally, they did nothing wrong, but were only concerned with profit. I am a very upset and would not want ANYONE to sign here. When assessing this issue, Casey was the higher level individual that I spoke with, he was EXTREMELY disrespectful and unhelpful. -I am posting this on all of the review cites that I can because that is the only way I know to help people from dealing with this situation. read more

The first day I walked into my room. The carpets were not clean and neither was the apartment. The people that work in the office are not very helpful either. The worst experience of staying at the apartment was that I moved back home for the summer and was still paying my rent. But they called and ask if they could start cleaning my room but instead they had someone come in and move into my room. Without even telling me. They said that they were only going to pay me for the days that she is staying in the room. My lease was longer than what they were going to charge. If the management/ front desk is that uninterested and uninformed about their property, I wouldn't want to live there. They are there to scam you and provide hidden fees within your lease. The parking is the worst. There's never any where to park close to your building. The wellness center and pool is closed half the time, (even though you pay $600+ each month on rent). Oh and far as rent goes, they raise their prices every year. Nice apartments in good location but beware. Why would you not have any security cameras on the parking lot? We are sending our kids out for the first time and you don't have any cameras to protect your residents and their vehicles. Lots of theft here. Especially since the fences are full of holes. I love it here! The amenities are great. It is super close to campus and on the bus route so I don't have to pay for a parking pass at Texas Tech. It has tons of food surrounding it and a Walmart right down the road! Management has always been very nice, and I have had no issues. If you do need to put a work order in for anything, they complete it for you within that day! If you put it in late it is always done before noon the next day! The apartments have very big kitchens for what you would assume would be in them, and they have brand new carpet which is really nice. Love the size of the walk-in closets! read more
