I could write 10 pages about how much we loved traveling with Knowmad so I'll try to stick to the highlights. My husband and I usually handle all of our own travel planning, but when we came across Knowmad while researching how to visit Machu Picchu we realized we would probably get a lot more out of a trip to Peru traveling with specialists from the country. Our travel specialists Renee and Shannon found a way for us to do everything we wanted to do (and so much more!) while staying within our budget. Once we met up with our Knowmad guide, Fernando, in Cusco every day of our trip was amazing and we learned so much about the Inca culture and the Andes while having a ton of fun and going at our own pace. By the time we made it to Machu Picchu it was so much more meaningful because we had an understanding of what makes it such a special and mystical site. The Inca trail was absolutely breathtaking (and I'm not talking about the altitude ) and we couldn't have done it without Fernando as our fearless guide. He looked out for us every step of the way and made us feel like family throughout our time with him. Our trip wouldn't have been nearly so memorable without him. Another highlight was our e-bike ride through the Sacred Valley with our awesome guide Kirvi, who was so kind and on top of making sure we were safe and even getting some awesome photos and videos along the way. Our driver Abraham made us feel so welcome and kept us moving along and safe throughout our trip. The restaurants and hotels Knowmad arranged for us were excellent, and our picnic in the Sacred Valley and Pachamanca experience were unbelievable. I mean, how on earth can you plan a wedding from thousands of miles away??? I know people do it, but I just didn't know how. I called a few travel agents who claimed to be able to help me and they all seemed to be just "ok", but after I spoke to a few agents at Travel Savvi, I knew without a doubt that they were the best ones to pull off my destination wedding. They really know their stuff!!! Anyone can plan a single trip. But planning 50 trips, a wedding, a reception and everything else we had in mind was beyond what a typical travel agent could manage. Don't make that mistake! I really believe that having Travel Savvi helping me is the reason everything was flawless. We got married at Hard Rock Punta Cana. We qualified for a free wedding, a free cocktail party, a free dinner reception and got a room upgrade. Everyone got a resort credit to spend on things like tours, upgrades, spa, etc. We're not talking $50. Most of my guests got $1500 to spend!!! Again, I have my agent to thank for this because I would have never known about any of these perks. If you're heart is saying you want a destination wedding, do it!!! It is an amazing experience. We were planning a trip to central and eastern Europe. We stopped at Mi Boleto Travel to scope it out. Within less than an hour, Berto had us booked for flights to and from Europe, a flight within eastern Europe, and hotels in three cities. He cheerfully waited through our deliberations on how much time to spend where and changed our hotel reservations to accommodate our revised schedule.
