terrible customer service. I tried to find out the status of my order and the " owner" of the business was so rude that I was appalled. I will never do business with this company again. he said he had been in business for 62 year but i Guarantee it was his dad that had been in business that long. I'm 68 and he did'nt sound over 30 if that old. he hung up on me twice. I'm hoping I even get my order now. it was $39 for the order and $19.95 shipping $9.95 handled fee for a total of $68.90. TLDR; This business tried to withhold a rightful refund of $700+ foam order through foamonline.com. This business attempted to change website cancellation policy to avoid issuing my refund. The "manager" or owner of this business talked down to me / tone policed me when I asked for my refund and when I asked why he wouldn't issue it (I cancelled within their 24 hour cancellation window). Lied about not receiving emails. Manipulative, strange, immoral - SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE! (See attached photos at my attempts to contact / their attempts to change their website cancellation policy)! I had a terrible experience with this business / their online store foamonline.com . I purchased two custom latex foam mattresses for my camper van couch / bed. I immediately realized that latex foam was not the foam I wanted for several reasons and emailed to cancel the order within 8 minutes of placing. Unfortunately, since I had been looking at various online foam stores, I emailed the wrong foam supplier to cancel. The next day that foam company let me know they didn't have an order from me, which prompted me to email foamonline.com to cancel my order. This cancellation was within the 24 hour cancellation as per their website. This was a Friday. By Monday, I hadn't heard back for a confirmation on the cancellation. I sent another followup email. Tuesday came and still nothing from foamonline.com. I attempted to call but the line was busy two different times. Wednesday I call and finally get through. The man who answered says he doesn't see either of my two emails and he's going to check if it went into production. Either way, he'll take care of it. He emails me saying they can't find either of my cancellation emails. I send screenshots of both emails and a screenshot of my calls from Tuesday. I then get an email stating that my order has already been sent to production so I can't cancel it. He forwards their production company's email saying they can't cancel. By the way, he doesn't make the foam cuts himself, he has it done through a different business so you might as well go to a business who does it themselves. After several attempts to call, I finally get through and ask to speak to a manager. It's the same man from the previous phone call and he states he's the manager. Then proceeds a useless back and fourth of me asking why he would not refund me given I had cancelled within 24 hours as per their website. He says since he never received my emails, he didn't receive cancellation notice until 5 days after my order (my phone call on Wednesday). He says he can't take my screenshots as evidence of email. He then tone policed me by essentially telling me that being sweet might get me somewhere. He proceeded to suddenly play victim and say that he's going to try and speak to the owner of the company to get me my refund though when I asked him who is in charge of refunds he told me he was. He also wouldn't let me speak to the owner (which I believe is him). He asked me to send my original email that I sent to the wrong foam company to plead my case to the fictitious refund givers and told me if he was able to get my refund "you're going to call me back and say 'wow this guy is pretty cooool'" I hung up disgusted. There is no possible way he didn't receive my emails. Gmail sends a return to sender email if the person on the other end doesn't receive it. Both emails were in my sent folder. I did not appreciate his manipulative behavior of attempting to steal my money for some issue on his end. The worst part is when I checked back at his cancellation policy on the website immediately after speaking to him on the phone, he had CHANGED IT to "Once an order is submitted, it can not be canceled. All sales are final and non-refundable". It has since changed back to his original cancellation policy (see pictures attached). After threatening legal action (my order was over $700) over withholding my refund and sending screenshots of my original email + the other two + my phone calls, he issued my refund without saying anything other than sending the refund receipt. I'm horrified by this business and the man in charge. He clearly made a mistake on his end and instead of issuing my refund as stated in his refund policy, he literally tried to trick me out of my money. As of now he has since changed his refund policy BACK to the 24 hour policy that it was before. He only changed it in the first place to further try to change the situation in his favor. I have since read the other 1 star reviews and definitely see why I had such an issue with this person. The man who I dealt with is delusional and extremely ego-centric and all around strange. I'd HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere if you don't want to waste your time, money, and energy. read more

This is the best upholstery shop in the Santa Barbara area and the most economical. David does a great job and it's pretty quick. They also sell custom cut foam for mattresses, cushions, boat seats, etc. I've taken in my own fabric and had cushions made, but I think they'll provide fabric as well. I found this company to be helpful, respectful, courteous and professional. I called to see if they had a piece of foam for a camping bed. David was very helpful over the phone informing me of the different thicknesses, densities and sizes he had in stock. I arrived at this business to pick up my bed and found him to be professional and willing to help me further by spending more time with me and my Indecisiveness. Then after purchasing my bed I decided to get a more firm version of the same bed. David was respectful of my decision and even let me have the new one without charging me the difference for the more expensive one. Great company! I called very late in the day and David Pulver, the owner, answered the phone and I asked to have a foam pillow cut and he said that he could cut it right away so I brought it into his shop and he immediately cut my foam pillow. That is what I call very good service! And he was so nice about it! Previously, my husband and I bought a foam pad from his shop for the back of our van and he cut the pad to fit our van floor. I had an admittedly non-standard job for an upholstery shop, but it was a pretty easy request: I had a throw rug that I wanted to be cut and stitched to keep it from unraveling. Their response was utter annoyance as if it was a bother that I was even asking them. I asked if they could recommend anyone else that might be able to do it. The guy got even more annoyed that I was wasting his time. It felt like such a put-down for a business in my own neighborhood where I have lived for decades. I just said "Have a great day." I have a couch with some cushions that have become pretty flat and uncomfortable so I have been looking for a local business that does reupholstery. I did a quick google search, and two of the places I had called first, either did not offer the service or had closed, even though they came up on a google search. I called this business and said "hi, I was just curious if you guys did reupholstering?" I think that's a reasonable question to ask, and let's be clear; a yes or no question at that. There was a 10 second delay, I actually pulled the phone away from my ear to see if I was disconnected, and then the man said "how about you do a google search of upholstery decor inc..." I have worked in customer service for over a decade, I ABSOLUTELY know when I'm being patronized or spoken down to, But I thought let me give this guy the benefit of the doubt, maybe he's actually referring me to a different place (I have called 2 places prior, and read the names of about 7 6 businesses at this point, I was t positive of the exact name of the business I called) so I just said "oh ok..." and he said in an extremely exasperated tone "that would answer SOOO many of your questions." And so I simply said thanks and he hung up. I don't need to spoken to like I'm a second class citizen because I've asked you a question that you deem yourself too important to answer. I've read this gentleman's responses to his negative reviews where he gives details of the high-end pieces he works on, and demeans the quality of work he's being simply asked about by other people as though it is some justification to treat people poorly, or as though answering the phone at his business is a waste of his precious time as he hand beads and stitches something that people rest their asses on. If you're too busy to answer the phone, maybe hire someone to do it for you, or get an answering machine. It would have taken him FAR less time to have just said "yes" when I called, than to behave as though I was personally attacking his integrity of work by asking him what services he offered and giving me an extremely rude response. I would never do business with someone whose character was so poorly reflected in a phone conversation that lasted all of a minute. read more

Today, just as he'd done decades ago, listened thoughtfully to my project, offered his expert services and translated my dream into a "foam" reality, all while I sat and waited. He took the time to explain how to measure the foam just right for what I needed and also explained the different kinds of density for different applications. Do yourself a favor and call this company BEFORE you order. You will be able to evaluate for yourself what it will be like to deal with them. As the owner said he is in the top five nation wide. Find and call one of the other four. I have a standard order. I read their web site on ship times. 6 days after I ordered I called for a UPS tracking number. It is now 14 days later and I asked again for my UPS tracking number. I'm never given a tracking number, I was just criticized for wasting his time and more. I admit that David is not the biggest "people" person. He isn't a big talker. But he was very kind, and DID go the extra mile for me. I hired him to remake the cushions for my couch and also for my easy chair. While doing that job he noticed some frayed areas on my slipcovers and took the time to sew them up! When I went to pick up the cushions, he was still putting the cover on one of them, and noticed another little hole, and immediately took to his machine and sewed it up as well. The cushions he made for the couch were beautiful and just perfect. The chair seat cushion, after I lived with it for a few days, I asked him to redo with a slightly firmer foam, and he did that for me. I hired David for a second job, to reupholster two mid-century swivel chairs, and he did a beautiful job, picking them up and delivering them back to my home. He has good contacts, and he sent some wood parts out to be refinished for the chairs, and those parts came back beautiful also. The chairs were expensive to have redone, but worth every penny! I plan to contact him soon because he told me of a gal that he knows who makes beautiful custom slipcovers, and I will need new ones soon. read more

They really are as good as it gets. I needed foam blocks for - you won't believe this - blocking the holes made by base posts on our LL baseball field. The blocks made by the base manufacturer were upwards of $200 for the set. Measured out what I needed, placed plastic whiskers in the center of each block and I have a better solution for under $50 including shipping. This company is terrific! read more

I wish I had an upholstery project for this shop as Mr. Pulver is indeed a master craftsman. The furniture pieces he has restored are breathtaking. I have visited his shop several times over the years but only for small, and what to Mr. Pulver must be "boring", projects (mattresses for trundle beds, foam inserts for pelican boxes, etc...). Nevertheless, this gentleman is generous with his time and knowledge. I keep coming back and refer my friends. I know he has much larger, grandiose projects that undoubtedly pay far more than my paltry projects, but he always treats me with kindness and respect. WORST customer service I have ever encountered. I agree with other reviewer(s) that dave gets extremely annoyed if you ask any questions.. such as regarding status of your order. Ordered some foam on line three weeks ago. Not a large amount, just enought to redo a motorcycle seat. When I had received my gel pad I ordered from China that I ordered on the same day I called to just ask if it was shipped yet. Dave told me "probably". I asked if he could confirm that with a tracking number or something. I then got a 20 minute lecture of how he actually sits in an office and someplace else cuts and ships the foam and he has no way of tracking that because the guy that use to provide him with that info has retired....He reassured me that he made his first million dollars when he was 38 years old so my measly $42 was nothing for him to refund. Oh, and in his 20 plus years he has never lost one single order....not one, millions of orders, millions.....I politely informed him that I "probably" won't be ordering from him again. And no, I still have not received the foam. I emailed him 3 days ago and have not gotten a response yet. This guy is arrogant and useless. I don't expect I will see my foam but hey, IF he does refund my money maybe I can put it towards my first million dollars:) read more

The foam i received was 2" too short in the back and 2" short in the front. Not to mention when I received the package they had jammed the foam so tight and the packaging was so awful that one side was completed dented (holes scattered across one side). I called the company up and they blamed it on me for ordering their CHEAP foam and that i wasn't educated enough to know to buy the better foam. He repeatedly made me feel like an unintelligent human being by not being a "foam master" and wouldn't let go that it shrunk in the packaging process yet once again because it was "my fault" for buying THEIR cheap foam. I asked for them to either send me a new one or refund my money. He only offered to refund my money (after a long drawn out debate) only after i ordered a new BETTER quality foam. Needless to say I would prefer not to get scammed because I did not trust this man to refund my money and I would probably end up more in the hole. I have never seen more poor customer service in my whole life!! This man was blaming everything on me, because clearly his associates do not know how to cut the proper lengths or package it properly.
