Again, my wife went to wear her new top today and found the security tag the cashier insisted she removed. Made an online purchase and never received an email confirmation and a purchase receipt. I spent about 40 minutes on two online chats over the course of two days and could not get my purchase receipt. There are no customer service phone numbers they only have useless generic FAQ's on their website for customer service or their useless live chat service where I was finally given an email address (customerservice@macys.com) and sent them an email. 2 stars for a department store? Are they kidnapping children? Selling knock-offs? Fracking? Of course the answer to all these is probably not, meaning the ranking is probably based more on the clientele than anything else. Overall, this is a nice spot, with a wide variety of department store gear and a never-ending sale on almost all of it. From my own experience, the men's department is solid - particularly for dress shoes - the jewelry department is great for middle aged married guys like myself to try not to screw up a stocking stuffer, and the housewares are cool. Sure, it smells a bit like a perfume spill and you may need to search a bit for a cashier, but you'll find one and you'll probably smell nice when you leave. It's also nice to be able to shop in a real store. This spot is a good spot. read more

Came here looking for some cheap walking shoes. Went to the shoe section and found a pair I liked on display. Looked for ten minutes for an employee to help get my right size shoe from the back of the store. When an employee finally came to help, she was friendly and helpful. However, if you are going to have a shoe department, hire some more employees or at least just have the shoes out in boxes so people can try them on. read more

We have no department stores left-you would think the one remaining would take some pride in their store. As you walk in, the mens department is impeccable. Not a thing out of place. Head up to the 3rd floor and they seem to have crammed everything up there and it is worse than closing time at Ross. Nothing in its place. Clothes on the floor. Seasons mixed. Women and children clothes mixed. It is a disaster. The dressing room nearest the lingerie section closed and only one other available. One check out with 3 clerks took forever...I miss the old days. There is zero appeal here. I won't go back. I could overhear other customers longing for Nordstrom and I couldn't t agree more. read more

This is one of Santa Barbara's last true department stores. I hope it is here to stay. Macy's is also La Cumbre Plaza's only interior anchor and I feel that it does better than the mall itself. The venue is positively large, with three expansive floors and just about every retail item you could imagine. I have fond memories of walking in through their western entrance to the aroma of perfume. While the store is large, I feel that it is laid out well and that each department is clearly sectioned. There are two elevators in the center which feature open windows from the back. It's neat to watch them go up and down from the top to the bottom floor. Macy's is one of those stores that has a new sale each week - and there are coupons galore. You're sure to find items you need at discounted prices. I come here when I'm in need of general dress clothing and feel that they offer a good selection. I also feel that the department staff go out of their way to make the customer feel valued. You don't see that at many chain department stores these days so I see it as an advantage. The next time you are in need of a retail-type item, give this store a shot. You may find that the item you are looking for is on sale! read more

Just found out that Macy's canceled my department credit card for "inactivity" after having one for over 30 years with them. This has caused my credit score to drop since it's a department store credit card I've had for so long...with not one single late payment. When I called and asked them to reinstate it (it's been only 10 days and only found out because Credit Karma emailed me - thank you!), they said it was too late. I asked if it's the company policy to not inform a customer and they said, "yes." Well, after researching to find out if this is actually legal, it is...but good companies will take the initiative to let their customers know in advance. SO disappointed not only for my credit score dropping, but more so that Macy's just made sure that I will never shop with them again. They'll probably go out of business away, though. smh read more

I came again today, asked if they sold the Urban Decay Naked Palette and the sales associate ROLLED HER EYES and said they didn't carry that at Macy's. I had to ask 3 different people if i could get help and never got any! first i was rudely told someone would be over in a second, proceeded to wait 20 minutes, where i then kindly asked another woman if i could get help and she told me to ask someone else, so I asked the next lady who told me "sorry that shoe section is closed for the day." so i walked back downstairs and spoke with Patty, the only kind and helpful lady in the building who reassured that the shoe section was not in fact closed. If your going to work in customer service at least try to be nice or helpful in the slightest bit. take some pride in your job, it's almost embarrassing!! will not be coming back read more

Worst customer service ever! I went in to return a package i received from Macy's because there was a tear in the shirt. The woman is so rude. She takes the package throws away the plastic the shirt is in and then hands back the rest of the package...why? The trash can wasn't full so i don't know why she handed that back to me instead of tossing it as well. She basically throws the shirt at me. I show her the rip and then she does who knows what and asks if I want a receipt. As in, she didn't ask if i wanted store credit or if i wanted to exchange the shirt for an undamaged (which is what I wanted) or anything like that. I feel like that isn't a big ask, in fact, isn't that the whole point of returning items? Even on package return forms they usually ask if you'd like an exchange for an undamaged item. The shirt was a gift from my mom so she had said I should ask for store credit so I could still get something, but the woman had just decided to put it back on the card without asking. When she handed me the receipt I actually had to ask what happened with the return! I shouldn't have to ask. And she was like 'I put it back on the card.' This is absurd! I'm not asking for 5 star service. I'm asking for the basics and the staff won't even provide that! I'd understand if they didn't have that shirt in stock, but there needs to be SOME dialogue. Essentially she was handling my money and deciding what to do with it without my input. Also, if she was going to throw some of the packaging in the trash, why did she give me back half of it to throw out myself? I brought it in the Macy's packaging in case she needed any of the information on the shipping label. And she really did just toss it at my without even looking at me. It might be bad management, maybe a bad day, but I've worked in customer service before, I've had terrible days before and have had terrible managers before, you just can't treat customers like that! I'm not asking for smiling, eager enthusiasm, that's ridiculous you can't realistically expect that, but what happened here was ridiculous. Even if you aren't chipper you still need to ask the customer what they'd like the company to do about the return. read more

It has a lot of potential, as I have seen other Macy's stores which are nice to shop in, but the execution here is just lacking. How is Macy's still in business!? I bought some patio furniture 2 months ago and found checked the return policy when I purchased it. (6 months) I called yesterday and again was told 6 months and to return it to the store. Today I went here and to start with it's difficult to find anyone actually working there. After locating a human I was told u can't return furniture to the store and the return policy is 3 days. I tried calling customer service from the location and the hold time was way too long and my phone died. I called again and got a supervisor on the phone. I told them to check the recorded call and I believe she did because she game me a 60% refund and to keep the items plus 15% of my next order on to it and sale price. Robin on the phone was great. Paula in the store was very nice and helped as much as she could. But Macy's as a store would not be somewhere I would recommend buying anything. Just spent the better of 10 minutes, trying to reach the La Cumbre Store in Santa Barbara. Their Voice driven menu, NEVER GETS TO A LIVE PERSON. If they are no longer in business, SAY SO. The menu gives you options to Speak in English, press 1, menu options about pick up at the curb, loss of a card and other options. It NEVER supplies a point to get to a particular department, much less place an order. HOW do they remain in business, if they don't have anyone to answer a phone, get a person to a department and allow for orders to be placed? While I have wasted time on a phone call and listening to Options on the Phone, at least I didn't drive to the store to find them closed, or even know if the department if they are open has what I am seeking. Maybe if they Value their Customers, they would put a live person on the phone or at least provide a menu that would get you to Operator assistance. Just a thought, IF NOT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS, HOW DO THEY EXPECT TO STAY IN BUSINESS? read more

I love Macy's and always have. I went to the jewelry department and found exactly what I wanted. They were very nice. I read on here that someone asked an employee what the discounted price of an item would be with 60% off and an additional 30%. Please.. you were upset because the little old lady couldn't figure it out? Perhaps she was nervous or had a nervous condition and simply couldn't think. However if you can't do that equation in your head, it's pretty lame. I've always loved Macy's for their quality, diversity of products and great sale prices. They can be pricy on some goods but if you wait, you can usually find it on sale at some point. Customers can be quite rough on retail people and you can't imagine what some of them have to deal with each day. Lighten up people, it's Christmas Season, spread some joy instead of the Bah Humbug negativity. And I love a parade too! read more

It's a busy Saturday afternoon before Easter and the salespeople who are the most unhelpful ever start to close the dressing room in the lingerie department at 4:00 pm while six women are trying on items. What?!! The store closes at 9:00 pm. That's a zero on work ethic. Lazy!!!! This store should be CLOSED. Permanently. I personally worked at a Macy's when I was in HS in Monterey so this behavior is especially shocking to me. Back then the customer came first. I live in this area and I have always shopped here. Today I came in and I saw the best professionalism I have seen. One woman was complaining about the customer servicee and the manager there kept assuring her they don't want to ever make their customers feel uncomforatble or not cared for. And one employee was disrespected by a customer. She tried to tell the customer she didn't know about something and the customer stormed offs hen she tried to explain and the customer didn't even turn tO look at her and just "yeah it's obvious you don't know anything" this employee also has a lanGuage barrier and it's obvious the customer didn't consider it. But thank you Macy's hiring very professional staff these never snapped at the customers they had they alwAys smiled and even though it was obvious they didn't lien being treated horribly they just took it. read more
