As a parent, I DO NOT recommend this place for children's behavioral/mental health care.
I brought my child to Uplift Behavioral Health Services in West Roxbury hoping to get real support -- but what we got was a frustrating and disorganized experience from start to finish.
The building itself feels uninviting and poorly maintained, which already gave me pause. There are barely any child-friendly tools or intervention materials available, which is shocking for a place thats referred by Boston Children's PCPs and provides child and adolescent mental health care and behavioral support. It felt more like an office for adults than a safe space for children.
What was even more concerning was the lack of follow-up and consistency from the administrative team. Insurance information wasn't handled properly during intake, and we ran into repeated issues because of mistakes that should have been caught early. Referrals and paperwork were delayed, and every time I called to fix things, I had to explain everything from the beginning again -- like they had no record.
They also clearly don't know how to use their own electronic health record (EHR) system. I canceled an appointment through their automated text system and still got marked as a no-show. No one followed up, no one corrected it, and it happened more than once.
Out of everyone we dealt with, there was only one clinician who actually seemed experienced with children and took the time to double-check information, follow up, and offer real wraparound care. If it wasn't for her, I honestly don't think we would have gotten anything meaningful out of our time there.
If you're looking for more than just surface-level therapy -- if you need a place that coordinates with schools, supports families, and actually pays attention to details -- this is not it. Sadly, it feels like the people running this place don't have the proper background in mental health or healthcare management, and it shows.
Save yourself the stress. Look elsewhere for your child's care. Your time and their well-being deserve better. read more
