We left this pediatrician office after about a year and a half. We had had enough. The front end…read morestaff was fine and most doctors were okay, but we had a few doctors, especially, Dr. Dudro who tried applying a one-size-fits all approach to his doctoring advice. He was also dismissive of our concerns and had an arrogance about him. As new parents we tried to follow his advice, regarding breastfeeding and bottles (which was to never use nipple shields), but in the end his advice did not work out for us (my wife had an oversupply so in this instance nipple shields do help and our son used them for the whole 13 months that he breastfed!) Then for our second child, he again started down a path of offering the text-book, single solution advice for things like the amount of time you should be breastfeeding, saying it should always be 10 minutes long, but we went for a second opinion at the Breastfeeding Center of Pittsburgh, which actually takes a personalized approach to care and listens to patients and parents concerns, and they explained some children can get all that they need in less than 10 minutes. The Breastfeeding Centers and Kids+Pediatrics has been way better than this office. Kids+ is a little farther drive for us, but they offer all sorts of additional services like a New Moms Support group. Overall, I don't know why we didn't switch sooner!!
