When you consider this school, by all means don't go off of "Erin's" review, considering she had issues with every place she went to. Starting from the ladies in the nursery who work tirelessly to provide their time, even with a 4:1 state mandated ratio. Have you ever tried to take care of 4 infants under the age of 9 months at once? You give and you give and you give. That's what I saw/see with my son there, regardless of how short they were, someone (God Bless the nurse who is always pitching in) and all the way up the chain to the Director Cheryl, someone is putting these kids before everything else. When you listen to the news and hear all the terrible things that happen at daycares and pre-k schools, you can rest assuredly that it doesn't happen here. As for the "curriculum" (say that slowly as you're talking about kids under 4) my daughter is heads above kids her age in both her recall and vocabulary. Noah's Ark puts Christ first and it shows.

I have several teachers in my family, as well as many close friends who have chosen this noble profession to pursue. It is truly a job that takes heart. It is also a career that takes every ounce of patience that you can muster. Taking care of children is THE hardest job on Earth. It takes a special kind of person. I, having no children, but several nephews who I love with my whole heart, truly appreciate this. With that said, parents are trusting your institution to stand in for them when they're not able, and paying exorbitant amounts of money to make sure this happens. Unfortunately, here at Schoolhouse, my family's experience has been quite the opposite. There are wonderful teachers here. People like "Miss Diane" and "Miss Brianne" have been phenomenal with my nephew. He talks about them often. You see, I take care of my nephew once a week, and have since he was 4 months old. He'll be 4 soon. I have heard many great things about the aforementioned two teachers. I also know that he's being told he's "bad" regularly, and not by these 2. I spend every other Wednesday building his self-esteem back up before he goes back to "school" the following day. His parents, who are the most involved and supportive parents you could imagine, spend an enormous amount of time doing the same thing. That's right. We spend a ridiculous amount of time building him up after a group of "experienced childcare experts" beat him down. Now let me tell you something. My nephew has his moments. He can be naughty, he can have temper tantrums, and he can be a royal pain in the you-know-what!! He can also be the most loving and caring little boy you've met. HE'S THREE YEAR'S OLD. That's what children do. And if you're not equipped, you shouldn't be in child care. Looking at you Janice, said Assistant Director. Who, by the way, i couldn't find one iota of information about on any website regarding Schoolhouse. Odd that the "ASSistant Director" has no information about "herself" on the school's main website. I guess if there's not something nice to say about someone.... In closing, please look up other daycares in your area before settling for Schoolhouse. The rare good teachers that are (under) employed there currently will find jobs they deserve, but the damage that the bad ones, especially/including Janice, create can last a lifetime. P.S. We enrolled our toddler in swim lessons at the YMCA Quakertown branch, and the experience has been…read moreextremely frustrating due to poor communication and lack of organization. We drive from Allentown for these classes, so clear and accurate information is important. When registering, the online schedule showed a morning summer class, and the front desk was able to sign us up for it. However, when we arrived, we were told that no summer morning class actually existed. As a result, we wasted our time driving there, and my daughter is now behind in her lessons because of the misinformation. What made the situation even more frustrating was the lack of accountability. When I tried to discuss the issue with the front desk, I was simply told that it was the aquatics department's responsibility. As a customer, I shouldn't have to navigate internal department issues after being given incorrect information by YMCA staff. To make matters worse, the only summer classes available for my daughter's age group are at 6:30 PM. For toddlers, that's an unreasonable time slot, as it is very close to bedtime for many families. I understand that scheduling challenges happen, but better communication, coordination between departments, and more family-friendly class options are needed. We chose the YMCA because of its reputation for serving families, but unfortunately our experience has been disappointing.

Parking is ok. I have found parking is much easier than the Doylestown Y. Everything in the building is clean as a whistle. Free coffee. It just does not get any better than this. The owner, in particular, seems to prioritize money over the best interests of the kids. The lack of professionalism from the owner and the administrative staff is a real issue--many months they wouldn't even have basic things like calendars available, or their communications would be inconsistent. One time they sent out an email about having a "desert bar" ... and had it spelled that way multiple times, so it wasn't just a typo. Is that who you want responsible for educating your child? Aside from all that, our son was diagnosed with some speech and socialization delays during his time at this school and entered Early Intervention. Both of his EI teachers visited his school and told us for his personal needs and learning challenges, the environment at this school wasn't right. Once we found a new school that felt like a better fit, we wanted to move our son right away, but the owner refused to let us leave without requiring dues to cover the full 30 days written notice, despite the fact that the enrollment agreement allows them to waive fees and let a student go if it is in their best interests (and we had a verbal conversation about it over 30 days before we left). For comparison, the school he moved to would have let him attend a few weeks for free just to help us do what was best for him. I wasn't surprised at all to see some other reviews on Greatschools.com that similarly echoed our experience--teachers are mostly good, but the owner/admin staff is not. And with the high level of staff turnover at these type of schools, you are relying on the owner to continually hire good people and hold them to a high standard. I would not trust the owner of this school to actually do that, at all. Basically, I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. If your kid is a follower and fits in to a crowd, they'd probably do fine here, but you can find better. If your kid is at all unique like mine, this school has been generally unsupportive and not helpful, especially compared to his new school where the teachers and administrative staff have really gone out of their way to figure out ways to help keep our son engaged and included (that he has really responded to).
