So every student has a lil' pride for their Alma Mater and I am no different in this particular…read morecase. UWP is one of 13 (give or take a few) UW schools located in Wisconsin. Located in Southwest Wisconsin this campus has its strengths and draw backs as does every college and campus. The best part for me was that it was a great college to get in, get your degree, and get the h-izzz-eck out. Other highlights for me included: the ratio of more males to females on campus (due to the school of Engineering), the replacement of older buildings on campus (Farwell Boeble Hall), very affordable (especially if you can encounter in-state tuition fees), small classes, a generally really nice and helpful student body (something typical of the Midwest), and 2nd street - a street located off of Main St that has a decent number of college bars. Some dislikes are as follows: Not much diversity on campus (everyone looks like they walked out of a Sears catalog for the most part), since the mid 90's ( Men's Basketball - Bo Ryan era) they really haven't had much to brag about regarding athletics, and UWP is located in a small community that lacks things other than drinking to occupy free time. I commuted to school everyday - so another gripe I have is that it is common knowledge amongst students that they will never have a "snow day" / cancel school on campus due to weather because they last time they did the city sold out of kegs and several student were jumping off of high balconies into snow piles and broke limbs and whatnot. Over all UWP was good to me and I enjoyed my college experience!

This school is not transparent and doesn't tell you everything you need to know. Advisor Pauline should not be in this field. Financial Aid office is no help.

I recommend reading the past reviews posted. This school does not care about the student at all! I…read morewas a victim of the horrific program that they call nursing. They don't teach you, they throw you in and your expected to float. I barely managed my LPN then transferred to Western in Lacrosse for my RN where I strived and got the A's and B's I deserved and worked hard for. It was a further drive to go elsewhere but it was well worth it. SWTC said I couldn't do it but they were wrong! I graduated with my ADN and am now attending Viterbo for my Doctorate in Nursing! Another example of this money sucking crappy school is the motorcycle safety program. I have rode motorcycle for years and decided to officially get my motorcycle license. This course was with Diana. She basically told us that if we didn't keep up with the class then you were pretty much screwed. The first day we were rushed to do exercise after exercise on the outside range with barely any time to practice. Diana treated the students like little kids/cattle yelling at us while we were trying to practice skills and telling us to "shoo away". VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! Long story short, all the females in the class FAILED the course because we were not "Deemed safe" on the road. Bull! I went to another nearby school and took the same class and guess what? Passed with flying colors again!

A great university for a solid education and plenty of stuff to do…read more I went to UW-LAX for my undergraduate degree, and it was a really great four years of my life. The education was top notch and enjoyable. There's plenty of nightlife on 3rd street (if you're into that). Midnight donut runs to Mr. D's are a tradition. If you want, you can take a road trip over a weekend to the Mall of America for some shopping or to Madison for some some great parties. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for a good public university in Wisconsin.

Beautiful campus with tons of green space and gorgeous buildings and facilities makes UWL extremely inviting and livable, especially when compared to other UW campuses. As with any university, you get what you put into your time as a college student. There are so many clubs and groups to join that you've really got no excuse to be a loner or a shut-in. Top notch academic programs and wonderful professors. I guess UWL has some good sports programs as well, but I went to school for school, not the sports. UWL is a wonderful option for higher education, located in a gorgeous, fun city. Although you generally have to wait a bit to enjoy 3rd Street. :) Yep, I still love my alma mater!
