The museum is a somewhat disjointed affair, taking in all kinds of themes, transport, industry, technology, culture and history. When we visited, a lot of the 'hands-on' exhibits for kids were out of order or simply not working. The building itself is fabulous, obviously a lot of money has been spent, but it just didn't do it for us. Maybe we're just spoiled or something.

We have always been welcomed by the volunteers who run the cinema and hall and really appreciate the service that they provide, my father, 2 daughters, wife and occasional friend I take with me would not dream of going anywhere else even though it's twice the distance of the cinemas in Swansea. The one annoying feature of the cinema is not with the organisers but with some of the visitors who with blatantly drop their rubbish on the floors between the seats when there are easily accessed bins in the same room. If you want a relaxed and very enjoyable atmosphere then pay a visit to Brynamman - they even have ice cream/sweet ladies!! A top of the range night out and there's a chip shop a few yards away for after the film. Lovely people, lovely environment as well as so many other wonderful and timeless qualities which are sadly lacking in today's society.

The hall was opened in 1926 with funds from the Coal Board & contributions from the people. It is one of Wales's oldest independent cinemas. In August this year (2010) they upgraded the viewing facilities so they can show 3 D films. The interior has also all been recently refurbished and looks clean and fresh. The hall not only shows films, I went to watch the Christmas Pantomime there this week, The scenery and performance was brilliant. They show all the top films, run by locals for the locals. Car parking behind. A hall where the hold dance lessons,a snooker hall and other community events, is under the main hall.

Quite a modern building inside & out and the theatre has little bar too. Staff are very helpful & friendly at the theatre too. Well worth going to in order to check out a music or comedy act of your choice.

Downstairs there were chairs grouped around tables and I saw people enjoying the Shakespeare while at the same time enjoying their wine. A little bar is on site selling spirits, wine and coffee. They might sell beer too but I never look for it so I can't remember seeing it. There was a cafe next to the bar but it was closed during the intermission, it looked cute though. It was my first time at the Arts Centre and I'll be going back now that I know what an impressive and diverse line up it has. There is a small car park across the road but we found parking on the street as it was after 6pm.

These showings tend to be quite quiet, and it's cheaper than going to any other cinema around here. Well worth a visit - keep an eye on their website or ask to be added to their mailing list. For the more famous names, they sell out quite quickly, so book sooner rather than later!

It's definitely well aimed at children, with a (not entirely relevant, I'll admit) dinosaur park which has been updated. Oystermouth Castle is a sweet little thing set on a hill overlooking Swansea Bay and looked after…read morethese days by volunteers. It originated in the 12th century and remained one of the most important castles in South Wales for another 300 years or so. Back in the day it must've been quite the dwelling, with visits from Edward I and a chapel built in. By the 16th Century the castle was in a bit of a state, and by state I mean ruins. These days though, quite a lot of it remains and you can explore it quite intricately, climb up stairs and wander around the bits left over imagining you are the king and your friends are the dirty rascals. It only costs about £1 to get in and it's a lovely place to have a summer picnic.
