The price was fair, and they were available to come the next day. They arrived on time, removed the tree efficiently and professionally, and cleaned up any debris. Final cost was twice the original amount quoted. $11,000 quote turned into $22,500 without any removal of wood removed. I should have gone to court over this but I unfortunately didn't want to pay additional lawyer fees. read more

Bad experience in just getting a quote . Wouldn't provide a written quote and then showed up to do work even tho not hired . Fortunately was around to have him leave . Quote was similar to other complaints I read here and multiple times the level of all other quotes . Would steer clear . Have had numerous people now warn me not to use this service. . read more

Homeowner beware. Get your quote in writing. We were supposed to get our small yard leveled and sod put down after a tree removal. Found out too late that the person from tree removal who gave me a quote was not the same person who did the work. Upstate Tree Service/ Contractors NY and its owner Austin provided perhaps the worst performance and customer service I have ever experienced. If you think you are getting a flat, clean, undamaged lawn, you are not. Be wary of the claim the stump grindings will 'fill the hole'. Be prepared to deal with a huge pile of heavy debris and numerous holes in your lawn--and maybe even a damaged fence. Austin is a Jekyll and Hyde. The man who gives you an estimate is not the same belligerent man who accused me of 'trying to get something for nothing' when I asked him about the debris. His rant got so out of hand, I hung up on him. If I am to blame for anything, it is picking him even though I saw bad reviews. He said they had to do with his father's arm of the company, not his. Don't believe it. Read other reviews carefully as Austin is mentioned in several of the bad reviews. If you still pick them because you think their quote is cheap, just know what you are getting and prepare accordingly, from dealing with damage and debris to dealing with his personal attacks on you. Austin is the worst contractor I have ever encountered--bar none. I had another tree contractor do some work a day after Austin's crew 'finished.' It was night and day. Professional. Courteous.
