We got to the front desk and was welcomed by one of the workers that checked to see if our nane were on the list, after that we were welcomed by Sara she was our teacher for the day and Kayla her assistant. They were both very helpful when help was needed. Sara made sure that everybody was having a good time. Painting time: We started to paint around 4:10pm (instead of 4pm) im sure it was because there were a group that were a little late. It was kinda annoying since some of us were early and waiting to paint. Buttt...the painting process was really nice because Sara made sure to tell the instructions very slowly and repeated them afterwards if you needed help. And they also took breaks where if you needed to catch up you could and also get more help. Ohh I almost forgot that during our first break, Kayla had great shots for us, I dont remember the nane but it was something about peaches and it wassssssss delicioussss. I bought a Groupon as Christmas gifts for my girlfriends and decided to make it a ladies night and all go together. Our husbands made it a guys night and dropped us off which was a great idea since their parking lot is small and we went on a Saturday night. We did our research and found that you could bring snacks and beverages. So we stocked up on wine, cheese and crackers. Something light to munch on while painting. Our class was pretty full and the instructor had a mic so everyone could hear. She even would walk around the room to help with any questions and offer some tips. She was very good at instructing and I thought everyone's painting turned out great! It was very interesting to see that we all painted the same concept yet they were all so unique and pretty. The class last about 2 hours. The staff gathers your groups together so they can take a photo of you with your masterpiece. This was such a fun and different girls night out option over the usual "let's go to a bar for happy hour". They offer lots of classes throughout the week and even multiple classes in one day. The studio is fairly large with high ceilings. They provide all the supplies for you to paint and they give you an apron to wear but be sure to wear clothing that you don't mind getting paint on. Uptown art is such a unique place for a date night. Basically you are guided step by step and get to paint a master piece. The best part of it all is you can bring your own drinks, they also provide a wide variety as well. They have a huge selection of classes to take and they vary from prices as well. Our class cost about $30 each and was totally worth it. Our guide was so nice and helpful, the music that was being played was a vibe and got you in the mood to paint ! Sadly they are closing their downtown west palm beach location and only operating at their Jupiter location. If you can make the drive I would highly recommend Uptown art for a date night. A pleasant surprise! I was feeling rather artsy one Saturday night and liked the painting that was advertised, so I figured "why not check it out?" This is fun- whether you're by yourself, with a friend, or in a group. Price is a convenient $35 and that comes with all the supplies. The event itself lasts a few hours long, but it went by fast with the instructor who was very helpful and had funny jokes. I was quite pleased with my end result and had a blast! The only negative part about the experience was the parking. Our night wasn't fully packed but with the small number of spaces, it wasn't enough. The place shares a lot with a fitness studio that owns some spaces and does not want you parking in them. It created a little bit of a headache before class. There is a lot that you have to pay across from Publix if you can't find any free spots. Upon arrival everything was great! The store front it beautiful with available parking which was a bonus for being downtown. We were about 15 minutes early as our class was scheduled from 530-730 or 8ish which I had planned for. After sitting, and sitting, and sitting (mind you everyone had their fresh canvases and paint ready to start) thinking maybe we were waiting on someone the class begun at 620 pm. Our instructor was sitting at the computer/on his phone. At this point I am upset as well as the family in front of us as it is the holiday season and many families are very busy. It is one thing if you explain the reason for delay so the class could understand and it's another when you just keep everyone waiting. Our class ended a little after 9pm which was drastically off schedule, which again I wouldn't mind....but when my instructor is asleep across the room at the computer desk it really makes me question this business. At more then one time our instructor had his eyes closed, in which I alerted my friend with me. The second time we realized because the little girl in front of us with her family was telling her mom, "look mom, he's sleeping!" I just felt like I may have had the wrong instructor who had no sense of urgency or care for anyone else's time. Our paintings did turn out beautiful but after all of the other factors it didn't leave me with a good taste in my mouth. read more

All of the teachers here are so friendly and high energy. We had a large group for a birthday and they were very accommodating. This place is bigger than other painting places I've been to before. They have a private party space available as well upstairs. Reservations are recommended but they do take walk ins. $35 for a seat which includes all of the supplies needed to create your masterpiece. Most fun I've had on a rainy night. A must do with friends. The place is open and airy with lots of seats. Two monitors magnify the instruction. Our paint plate was prepared for us. No lines to stand in. Instruction was sometimes too fast, but overall, we got the idea from watching instructor's painting. I always have a copy of the original on my phone to refer back to for consistency. Bring your own drinks and snacks. There was a pause between sessions to freshen up your brush water and replenish paint. Lots of laughs when you hear other's comments and frustrations. Makes for a fun night when tou finally see your own results. Will definitely come to this location when they have Starry Night available! read more

Meh... I wanted to love it but a few things gave me a bad taste of the whole expeience. When I called to make the reservation o was SPECIFICALLY told to arrive early because they started on time. We were also not told how hard the location is to find or that they have FREE parking in their lot. We arrived at 6:35 after driving round and round trying to find the location. First time doing it (which I mentioned on the phone) so would have nice to have an introduction to the process. 7pm rolled around I would say we were waiting on a good 10-12 people so we were told we would wait "a bit more"... When the latecomers arrived they proceeded to take selfies and prepare their alcohol for themselves, rather than be encouraged to get their area ready. Very annoying and inconsiderate. Some 15 or so minutes later, the artist explained the three brushes but didn't really didn't explain technique or anything really. I figured this out later as I think I was using way too much painton the brush. She was very difficult to understand and I think the microphone defeated her. I really struggled with my painting... definitely not a good one for a novice ... would have been nice to be warned of it's difficulty. The directive was hard to follow and assumed that we knew what we were doing. We ended up cutting out after break bc my baby at home needed me. I just did some research on this place, & it is closed they only offer party events and online classes.

First of all, I love the 'painting class' sort of concept. The first time I took one of these 2-hour classes was at the Vino Van Gogh Paint Wine Bar in Delray Beach, FL in August 2015. Since then, I had wanted to paint again. An opportunity came up around the time of my birthday - I found Uptown Art via a quick Google Search. I painted here on Sunday, April 10. I registered for the class the night before, and found some promo codes on their Facebook page for a discount. The class was great! The woman who guided us through the painting had the perfect kind of personality for this type of job. We painted "White Flowers." I added some pizzazz to mine by drawing (and then painting) Mario and Princess Peach on each side of the Canvas (see my photo). The class was scheduled to be from 2PM to 4PM. They clean-up starting at 4:00 since they close and leave the premises at 5:00. Well, as you can imagine, it took me some time to draw-in and paint over Mario and Peach, so I continued working past 4PM. As a very detail-oriented, Type A perfectionist, time seemed to escape me. The instructor came over at 4:50 and politely explained that she had to clock out in 10 minutes, but that I could come back and finish my painting anytime free of charge. I only had one area of Mario to outline in black, so I asked if I could finish up in 2 minutes and be out of her hair. At least that way, I could leave with a finished painting. She happily agreed, which I appreciated. I especially appreciated it given I went to Uptown Art that day with my boyfriend as one of my celebratory birthday activities. Speaking of that, while painting the instructor asked the group if anyone was celebrating their birthday. Myself and a young girl raised our hands, so we were called up on stage while everyone else sang Happy Birthday. Then, they let us choose any painting from a wall to keep as a birthday gift. How nice! Upon leaving, I continued to profusely apologize for staying so late. The instructor said it wasn't a problem and that: "This is what I do" with a smile on her face. A+ for her positivity and attitude. She took a picture of my painting to show her husband (since I added Mario and Peach on mine). I had a lovely experience at Uptown Art. Something about painting is so relaxing - I see it as a way for my Type A self to escape perfectionism. Because when you're painting, nothing can be "perfect." A great night out! I went to Uptown Art for the first time last night, and I loved it! Everyone was friendly and the instructor did a great job explaining how to create the painting. I like the painting selections that Uptown Art offers and they appeal to me more than some of the other painting places (like Vino Van Gogh, which I think is a great place but I don't love many of their painting selections). I drove about 40 minutes to go to Uptown Art, and it was worth it. The place has a great atmosphere with an eclectic, industrial look with cute touches. It's one of those places that has a welcoming vibe that puts you at ease right when you arrive. Since the space is large, the painting is shown on two projectors on each side of where the instructor is working. At times, I still felt that it was a bit hard to see what we were supposed to be doing, but overall, this issues was really minor and didn't detract from the fun or the final result. The instructor had lots of specific advice so that is what really counts. I will definitely be going again and have already checked out their calendar for upcoming paintings. Uptown Art is opening a location closer to where I live, but I really liked this location in West Palm so for now, I plan on doing the drive. read more

I went last night for a Mandala rock painting class. I'm greeted by a friendly man I assume he is getting ready to teach a class. He calls the "manager" because he wasn't aware of my class. Although I signed and paid online this "manager" didn't know that I signed up for the class. They proceed to put some paintbrushes in a cup give me a binder with pictures of ideas and direct me to an empty room. Really, I have paint, brushes and can find a rock in my yard don't need to go to a studio for that. What bothered me the most was the laziness and the I don't give a crap attitude of this woman. I have been going to this studio over the years when they just opened. So sad to see that they have been declining. read more

What a cool place! I came here last night for a birthday painting party and it was a lot of fun for all of us. We were able to bring our own snacks and drinks. They provide the cups and the wine openers for no additional cost. The instructor was great and didn't rush us to finish our paintings at all. I would definitely recommend the place for a date night or a friend's night out. You don't need to be an artist either. Let the wine take over and you'll discover what hidden talent you actually have. Remember to ask for a frequent card. The 9th visit is free, so if you get two spots when you reserve online for a visit, they'll punch the card twice when you arrive. This review is for the "new" location in Jupiter, FL. We just attended a class 2 days ago. We have also been to the West Palm location. We had a totally delightful evening! PS: We (ok, me) are not artists. I see circles, rectangles and triangles; not stars, rooftops and trees! I got it that we start with those shapes, but I seem to still see them when my "painting" is complete. First, the Jupiter facility is superior to the one in West Palm Beach. The acoustics are much better. There is very little background noise or echoes from other participants' interactions. You can hear the instructor even though the sound system is not completely installed. Visibility to the instructor and the "closed-circuit" monitors is excellent. Canvas, paints, brushes, smocks., at ., are all provided, collected and setup. Helen, the instructor, was patient and easily understood. She broke down the painting into clearly explained, small steps. The whole process for a version of "Starry Night" took between 2-1/2 and 3 hours. If you know nothing, she really does somehow evoke a plausible representation of the target painting on every canvas. (I think) If you have artistic ability, she encourages you to extrapolate the basic instruction. You are not limited by paint, regimentation, or other students. Time IS a factor. However, I never felt rushed or abruptly hurried at all. You must work smartly and just try to do what is shown. Although there are breaks (for paint drying reasons), the instructor cannot work with each person individually to correct, repeat, fix, demonstrate, or "catch them up". Other students are helpful and will go over instructions if they can. It's quite a friendly and social atmosphere. Again, this is a "JUST TRY IT" experience and you will be surprised. Know that there is instruction on fixing mistakes and making changes as you go along. There's lots of painting choices; you pick your day with the one you like. Some choices are clearly more difficult, take more time and are a little bit more expensive. I find the price (~$30) reasonable for the experience. If you have doubts, try a Groupon first. Go with others. Group think and group opinion and group gawking are part of the fun. Finally, you can bring food, drinks and adult beverages if you wish. Some talents and latent skills are honed with a little cognitive loosening. Take pictures. Laugh. Do something you'll smile and be proud of. Relax. Try it again and see how much you learned the first time. Take guests who come to visit. Be serious...or not. It's a learning experience. read more

I love uptown Art such a fun friendly atmosphere and I love the reward program if you go nine times and get your card punched you get a free painting class! I had a full punchcard and I went with a group of friends one of my friends wasn't able to go online and book the class thankfully because their new location they have a lot more space and where accommodate us. Not only that we happen to be running a bit late and we didn't get to eat our dinner they allowed us to eat in the class as well. Unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience from uptown art this past week. My friend and I had signed up to do a wine glass painting class, we pre paid and got the confirmation email. The class said in the description that it was from 4-9pm and you could stop in anytime between those hours to paint your glass. We were very excited but when we got there the door was locked, lights were out, no one was answering the phone and there was only one car in the parking lot. I do not know what happened but I had left a message on the answering machine explaining the situation and I have yet to hear back with a response..this is now 4 days ago. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of communication if the class had been moved, cancelled or whatever the case. We checked the location and date numerous times as well. We were both very excited about this class and now unfortunately I do not think I will be returning or booking any further business with them. Also, no credits or refunds have been offered or issued at this time because we have yet to hear back from anyone read more

Such a wonderful place! The staff was very friendly and helpful with my situation. The class I chose had a great, positive, funny instructor. Very well organized and felt comfortable painting my interpretation! They provide snacks for a cost. You do not have to bring your own glasses/cups or wine openers! Really had a good time here. Molly was our instructor and Sam was our helper- my mother who is very apprehensive to try new things had a great time. Molly did a good job instructing- she was bubbly and gave clear directions. The acoustics are not fantastic and it can be hard to hear. The play background music but its more noise in the back than helpful. Sam the helper did come around and help every person and did a great job of that even in a large room. Other than that, this is a good time to being someone out that needs to get out of their comfort zone or you are trying to do something that you have never done before to expand your creativity. I was visiting from out of town and found this as a good bonding activity. This was good family/girlfriend/date night fun. read more

The class was pretty much full, which was good. The only thing that we didn't like was a couple groups were extremely loud. The first time I went to Uptown Art was an amazing time. I recently decided to have a private party and it was not as nice as an experience. I booked the party at least 3 weeks ahead of time, I wanted to paint the peacock and they said it was no problem, nothing extra, can't wait to see you attitude. Then I got a call 2 days before the event claiming that they had sent me an email telling me that we could not do the peacock and if we still wanted to do it I would have to pay extra for the extended time and there was a sketch time that was never discussed in the original booking. I never received that email, by the way, but mysteriously I received all other emails - just not that one - hmmm? So we settled on a different painting. Got to the event to find out the girl who was suppose to do our party was sick (possible appendicitis - poor girl) so the girl who took her place made sure to point out she was doing a double shift. Granted 3 of my guests were late so we paid for the session and by the time that was done the missing guests showed up. The girl began the lesson and everything was going well until the end when she practically pushed us out of the room because our time was done. Some of my guests only need 2 minutes to finish painting the edges of the canvas, but she took away the paint brushes so my guests could not finish. She also told 3 of my guest (2 of which were my daughters) that they were being too noisy and they were literally just sitting there concentrating, trying to finish their paintings before the brushes were taken from them. Those guests told her that it wasn't them that were making noise, but she told them to quite down anyway. I am shocked as to the treatment we got. All of my guests were commenting on being rushed at the end. We only needed 5 more min. at the most. There wasn't another party waiting to get the room. But she clearly wasn't having it and really pushed us out. read more
