Terrible service I've spent 100s in thus store brought them a bag off barely worn shoes Jordan's, airmax and under armor waited two hours for them to tell me they didn't want to buy anything while watching them buy other shoes worse than what I was just told wasn't there type. I believe it was because a few weeks back my cousin came there and was told they wasn't taken any more Items so he asked me if I would buy them and I did. I don't know what was wrong with that I was just helping out a family member that needed to pay a bill. This place turns there noses up to certain individuals now that they have gotten more business. This place is terrible, do not bother bringing your clothes to sell here they never accept clothes!!! I came on 3 different occasions and each time I was told they stopped "buying" clothes for the day at various times (noon, 3pm,4pm) because they had "too much". When I finally called and confirmed I could bring my items, I gave them my small box of folded clothes with brands like Free People, American Eagle, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, and Express. They called me 1 hour later, I returned & they said they wouldn't take any of it. I noticed NONE of the clothes had been touched, all laid folded how I have it to them. They didn't even bother to look at it the items. They have wasted so much of my time and I will never return to this location again. read more

This is my first time selling something at consignment. The staff was friendly and helpful and the process was very organized. The technology system is pretty amazing as well and I got a text when my items had completed review. The store is well organized, clean and friendly. I decided to go back when the store opens with a more standard item (Hermes black enamel Tohu Bohu bangle bracelet, in my opinion, very recognizable if you know Hermes items) to give this place another chance as a seller. It was equally as bad as my first experience. I went at 10 am (as soon as they open, which I was told is preferred). There were two different girls working than the first time I tried to sell here. The store was essentially empty... just me and one other girl looking to drop off items to sell. The girl who checked me in and checked my ID was very polite, looked at my bracelet, said it was beautiful and started to go over the authentication fee with me ($30 to get a quote, which honestly is a bit steep but whatever). I started explaining to her that these bracelets don't have serial numbers so I wasn't sure if they could run it through authentication. Without even looking at my bracelet, the manager on duty said at some point "I guess I could take a look at it" like she was doing me some huge favor, then very rudely said "well I need to see proof of purchase" when I explained to the other girl that NONE of these bracelets have serial numbers (also, very standard if you are familiar with Hermes jewelry styles). The manager never looked at the bracelet, just kind of commented from off to the side during this interaction. I very politely said that's fine, I don't have a receipt from a purchase made years ago, put my bracelet back in my bag and left. I then got an offer from the fashionphile app within an hour to buy the bracelet for $100 more than I was asking from Uptown Cheepstake, so I guess she did me a favor? I want to support a small local business over big apps, but I have really tried with this place and I just can't. It feels like they literally train their staff to make sellers feel like garbage as a first step of negotiation or something. I don't understand this at all... a store like this needs sellers to survive. Especially sellers of high end items. Just be nice to people, it's that simple. Your tone and the way you say things makes a huge difference. If you are considering selling a designer item, I would highly recommend using fashionphile, Rebag, PoshMark, or Mercari over going here. Just for context, I have made over $10k cleaning out my closet in the last couple of months using these apps. Most of it was from LV bags (which I just never wear anymore, my tastes have changed), but also some random Hermes and Burberry items. Uptown Cheepskate could have also made thousands of dollars from my closet if they didn't have such a terrible attitude towards sellers. Their loss... at this rate I'm going to easily pay for my next Birkin or Kelly with stuff I just don't wear anymore without their mutually beneficial "favors." read more

Good for buyers, not good if you're selling your clothes. They barely take anything, wait time is so much longer than they say, and you do not get a lot of money per item. They don't offer itemized receipts. They stop buying way before their "buying window" ends- I've run into this issue on multiple occasions. It says they stop by at five, and I'll go in at 3:45 and they won't accept items. Staff is also not here to help, and have been rude at times. read more

Wow. So disappointing. I ran a successful consignment shop and have been a frequent consigned and shopper all over the country every place I've lived and traveled. This experience was unfortunate. Bringing items in plastic bags isn't good enough for this shop in the ghetto. Must be in totes or baskets. I scoured the website to be sure I was bringing my items in as they wished. I take this seriously as a consignor and former owner. Nowhere on the website is this stated. The man at the door instructed me that he "thinks it's on Instagram". So if you need to know how to consign here you can scroll through dozens of posts and it might be there. So disappointing and frustrating. Do not shop here. The reviews are correct the owner is miserable and rude to customers. I brought in numerous summer clothes brand-new with tags and got zero dollars for everything after I was told on the phone they are in need of summer clothes. But when I went to pick up the cloths they asked twice within a minute if I wanted them "to keep them to donate". I brought them to goodwill to ensure they were truly donated. read more

This location is nice and ok customer service. I brought in 3x pair of shoes that I literally have worn maybe twice each and they offered me $15 cash or $18 store credit. I was expecting at least $60. They're name brand. The other shoes that were there are trash and have scuff marks. If you're trying to sell stuff it seems like they only prefer big name brands like balenciaga . Plato's closet in university area is better compared to this. read more

I used to LOVE Uptown Cheapskate because they would take anything I sold. I brought in some gently used clothes and BRAND NEW/ NEVER WORN pink converse from a tobacco-free home and the worker had a disgusting/ horrible attitude. After dropping off my items to be "appraised" for 2 HOURS she only comes back to tell me she cannot accept my clothes because of their condition. I noticed my clothes hadn't even been touched, so she didn't even take the time to look through them. Also, how can new converse be in bad condition? My clothes looked in better condition than half of the clothes sold in that store. They need to step it up. read more

Went to sell my gently used *designer *clothes. I was stopped before I even got to the counter to say that I was not allowed to bring the clothes in on a hanger and that my clothes were "too formal" bc I had two cocktail/ black tie dress on hangers on my arm. I said "No problem, do y'all know somewhere that could take my clothes?" She said "nope", and then got back to her work so I quickly left and won't ever go back. Since when can you be judged by the clothes you're trying to sell/donate! Also they have security in there now.. like why? terrible location DO NOT GO here. read more

Was told they wouldn't take any of my items (4 full bins worth of clothes) because of the "wear and tear" and the "condition of the clothes." I had multiple items still with tags on with well-known branding. Got home with all of my bins of clothes and realized they only actually went through one of them. The other three bins still had perfectly folded clothing, whereas the one they actually went through everything was just thrown back in there. Why accept 4 if you're only going to go through one? Had some almost brand new Urban Outfitters pieces, Steve Madden shoes, etc. Was told to be there before 5:00 but got a text at 4:06 saying I had to be there BEFORE 4:30. OMG is the first thing that I thought when I walked in here! I love this store! I immediately saw a sweater from a sample sale in NYC for 9 bucks! I came in with the mission of an ice warm winter coat ans I def found it! $45 dollars. Then I found a pair of super cute grey booties for $13 dollars. I honestly was there 5 min seeing those 3 items and I had not even gone into a 1/4 of the store. All the clothes are neat and hung and super organized. This makes the shopping much more fun as less digging around. They have high end name brands as well if you want to spend a little more than thrift prices but it the full amount. Wouldn't recommend this Uptown Cheapskate over the one in Pineville. They took two of my oldest items and wouldn't take newer ones with season/year tags in them for not being new enough. Yet have old/non-brand name items on shelf. Staff is nice but just overall not a great experience. They also have different hours listed on google/yelp/website so it would be helpful to update for clarity! Also, reusable bags only for drop off and if you want to donate you either need to part with your bags or bring a trash/grocery bag. read more

This place is great! Such a gem. For shoes and purses they have high end designers (Hermès, Chanel, Gucci). Got clothing I didn't get quite as much time to look but saw some J Crew, Lilly, vineyard vines. Randomly the one thing I wish they had were some small shopping carts. Worst place to ever shop. DO NOT SHOP HERE! Owners are Sh"t heads. They do not care about customer service AT ALL... They only care about the money. I bought various items and 3 dresses had stains when i came home, i went and asked for a refund and they said store credit only. NO THANKS... i do not want to spend or support a corny business that sells items with defects and doesnt even want to offer a refund. My 1st time at this location (South Blvd) on 8/23/2023. The store manager - GM was very nasty and unprofessional. Her verbal delivery and her aura were awful. Ms/Mrs Luz (Hispanic). I normally go to the location on 9015 J M Keynes Drive, however, circumstances led me to sell my items at the location on South Blvd in Charlotte, NC. I am surprised that she currently holds that position in management. What I encountered today from this store manager is beyond horrible from the moment I entered to the time I exited the store. I exhibited poise, and respect to her throughout my visit, in despite of her unjustifiable demeanor toward me. Furthermore, I am known at the Keynes Drive location for being easy going very respectful and for bringing brand new with tags unworn trendy and great items. Ms/Mrs Luz low -balled me. $350 cash value for 65 items (items that was neck turners / stand out items / in season). I definitely would have received double in cash value at the location I normally visit. Something is not right! Oh Yes, Ms/Mrs Luz is not right. Opposite of right or correct is left or wrong! The employees were also disappointed because they were aware of my experience as a customer with Ms/Mrs Luz and according to them this had occurred many times nearly daily in the past with other customers. I am definitely not the first individual to have a horrible experience with Ms/Mrs Luz. I may or may not be the first individual to speak out publicly to address a re-occurring issue regarding customer's experience with the store manager - Luz. Other staff was good, most notably, the security guard Andrew and the customer service associate Amorria was extremely exceptional in every aspect a human being can be. These 2 individuals need recognition and promotion. Ms/Mrs Luz need termination for she is making that location look bad. A demotion will not solve anything. I am a prestigious health care professional with a public administration background. When I leave a review, it is extremely serious because I rarely give online reviews unless something or someone is very exceptional, or someone is extremely inadequate regarding respect. I will never visit South Blvd location again. Ms/Mrs Luz be very careful regarding the manner you convey yourself and the aura you emit because you are never aware of who a customer is related to and what a human being may be going through in life prior to entering any type of facility. It's a human decency violation for this person to hold such position. Ms/Ms Luz seem miserable, a fake smile and convey a dark cloud type of energy. This is not what I believe. The poor girl behind me made a very long drive to sell her items and called prior and was turned down after getting there. So I'm organized and so unprofessional. Shown up the next day because they said to bring them back as they already had them sorted. With nothing on the floor and picking through no items the lazy dude behind the counter tells me to bring back another time. Zara, Ted Baker, Tumi, Peter Millar, joes Jeans, Vince, Theory, Tom Ford, Balencega, all missed out on because of lazy people. Go somewhere else or use Facebook market place or donate. This place is a joke. I'm sure the owner would have been appalled to turn that much product down but if you're hugging people like that who knows. Try another option. You don't regret it. read more
