I loved this particular Uptown Cheapskate ever since I was a student at TXST. After graduating, every time I'm in San Marcos, I always stop here and each time, I have always left with some items. After looking at some reviews, I do agree, majority of the clothes are leaning more towards the younger audience, but it makes sense because it is located in a college town. The clothes I see in Dallas are more diverse, but leaning more towards the mature side. So, the clothes they have do depend on the location of the Uptown. For this particular location, I think they're pretty good on having clothes that are trendy and up-to-date for college students. The most recent visit I had was very pleasant. They were doing an event for an anniversary and I was welcomed with a coupon at the door which was nice! I ended up a few things including a pair of Aerie Crossover Flowy Shorts for such an amazing price that I couldn't even find looking through Depop and Poshmark. After checking out, I was given a swag bag that had some cute pieces in there and I left with a cookie lol. I love and miss San Marcos so much! This place is also one of the reasons why I enjoy coming back. I remember thrifting in SanMo wasn't always the best specifically for me, but I think this place is guaranteed to have the items you're looking for. Of course, Uptown will cost more than a thrift store, but I don't mind that because it makes it more efficient for me to find items in excellent condition. read more

WASTE OF TIME!!!!!!! Took my daughter here today and sat by the fitting room listening to "Brady" say, "low key," at least 15 times, while another female employee said, "Shit," in her conversation several times. Horrible customer service. These employees need to get over themselves. It's Uptown CHEAPskate- not Via die Condotti- yes, PLEASE look that up. WORST PLACE TO BUY/SELL I came in to donate miss me jeans, dickies, juicy, Victoria secret, pacsun. All kinds of brand new& name brand clothes. I walked into this store after having heard so much about it and I was very hopeful about finding some fun, inexpensive items for the upcoming holidays. I found a really cute, retro vibe floral dress. Sadly, the back of the strap was torn and knotted to hold it together. I tried on several items and ended up with a "retro" Jaclyn Smith small corduroy dress. While they had some fun shoe selections, they were very overpriced for the amount of wear and tear. When I used Apple Pay I had to actually dig out my card. The manager said they always have trouble when it's Apple Pay Mastercard. Hopefully they will look into correcting that issue soon. I had seen Uptown Cheapskate on Instagram and wanted to go. It's great! Large selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories in either new or in very good used condition. The store is very well organized and clean. I found a great pair of Hudson jeans for only $23.00 and would have shopped longer but the husband was impatient. Next time, I go alone! read more

This resale shop is on Aquarena Springs Drive next to a Subway. It is a clothes resale store that also has a big selection of shoes and a small selection of purses. Everything on the racks appears to be about half of the original retail price or less, but no Goodwill pricing here. This isn't just a women's clothing store, they also have men's and children's clothing as well. It's a good place to find some quality threads. They deserve 3 1/2 stars which means a good acceptable business to check out, it does not denote mediocrity. read more

After my mama passed away, I inherited a ridiculous amount of designer clothing, purses, and shoes...ALL with tags still on them. Unfortunately, mama was a lot smaller than I am in clothes and shoes, so I needed to find somewhere to take them. I was to the point of just wanting it gone as it was overwhelming seeing it in my closet and bedroom taking up space. So, I gathered 5-6 bags/totes and headed up there. Brought everything inside, and chose to wait for them to go thru it. It took about an hour (was on a Sunday), but they had a place I could sit after browsing the racks of goodies. I did notice they offer a great selection for men AND women, including larger sizes! They have a nice variety of accessories as well, new and gently loved. After all was said and done, I chose the cash payment and left the remaining items for them to donate to Purple Heart. Barbi lives in Montrose, nowhere near Uptown (thankfully), but she definitely has the Cheapskate part down. I mean you should see how frugal this goddess is, but not when it comes to her cats, her man (well sometimes), and her porn outfits. But anyway. This is a great consignment store and there's another one up in the ATX, and we've been to both of them. We like this one in San Marcos the best, and the main problem for us was the line at checkout, which seemed a little unnecessary because they could have just had more registers open, there were several other employees not too busy. Regardless, this is definitely a really nice place to get consignment clothing and youth clothing and they're friendly and there's a lot of original and unique stuff in here. The San Marcos store has a great selection and is probably twice as big as the other location so we like it better. Just make sure you time your trip up to the register for when there's nobody in front of you because otherwise you might wait for a while. read more

Everything went smoothly. We did bring a lot of clothes that were better for summer which I understand why they didn't take anything. I did enjoy the option to donate all our clothes without having to take them back with us. They gave us some points for our visit and donation which was a nice touch. The selection of clothes is abundant just didn't see anything that peaked my interest at the time I went. Maybe in the future I'll visit again and see if I find something I love! Since I didn't see anything I was super interested in clothing wise, prices seems pretty fair for the condition of the items to. Love that they have name brand clothing for about a third of the retail cost. Just depending of what your looking for you can find some very nice staple pieces for any wardrobe. read more

Seller beware. I took a full container of clothes to try to sale. The girl quoted me 30-45 minutes. I went outside to wait and she called me Less than 20mins later to say that they could not take any of my clothes "due to some styles that don't sell well at this location". Which is hard to believe that none of my items would take. I definitely had brands listed on the doors in great condition and many other higher priced brands. As I was emptying my container into bags to donate I realized that they DID NOT even go through my container because everything was perfectly stacked like I had it and you could tell they only did the very top portion. I probably made the mistake of putting jeans on top but as a store that says they go through the clothes to price then it would be nice if you ACTUALLY took the time and went through the clothes. If you are older than gen z, don't expect to be able to sell anything here. As a millennial I know some of our "trends" are going out of style. However when I bring in items like plain tees, NICE denim jeans and Jean shorts, dresses with tags still on them, etc and they still buy nothing, it baffles me. They have shirts on the rack with literally looney toons characters on them but they won't buy solid color tops or jeans from Abercrombie that were purchased NEW within the last few months? On top of that they require that you stay in the shopping center for an hour and a half when they sort your clothes and say if you're not back in 2 minutes from when they call, they'll donate your items. A man without a tie is like a horse without a gun. I was the horse and Cheapskates was the gelatin factory that jiggled my heart. A bowtie of polkadotted arabesque had found it's way around me neck. Twernt the first time I had been saddled but it was mine first Rodeo. I was lassoed and immediately gave the tradeswoman the Hyde from my purse . I wound the bowtie up and took flight.
