Essentially inside the first floor of one of the homes in Tremont (to give you an idea of the vibe), every surface is packed and curated somehow without looking cluttered and making you feel overwhelmed. Street parking is plentiful in the area. From older books to sets of glassware (that were stunning but I had no particular place for them at this point) to a little bit of everything in between. You can tell the owner put a lot of love and thought into the curation. The owner's mom was manning the desk when I was there and she was lovely. After the initial heartfelt hello I was left to browse in peace which is always my preference. I'm always here for a conversation but it's always easier to have at the end of my browsing whether I've bought anything in particular or not. Given the nature of the business I would assume there's quite a bit of turnover in the stock and I'm curious to come back and see what's new-to-me.

They also have a large beer and wine selection behind the Banter stall where you can choose any six-pack or bottle you want and drink it inside or take it home. Inside the I love On The Rise Bakery and Rising Star Coffee inside the Market Hall. They also have Craft Collective which serves lots of craft beers and wines by the glass. There's lots of seating and tables to enjoy your meal, work, meet with friends, etc. One of my favorite spots in the VAD is The Corner. It's a small section in the Market Hall that sells little treats, jeweler, candles, etc. from local makers and small business owners. It's always fun to see what they have there and good to support these businesses.

We had a great time strolling around inside and out. The district has a nice selection of stores. There is everything from a plant store (Stump) to ice cream (Mitchell's), to clothing stores (Clevelan Clothing Company and others). There is definitely a focus on more local goods and shops. The area is not expansive so it is easy to stroll around and see everything in a short period of time. Had it been warmer I would have liked to sit outside with a coffee.

AMBIANCE/INVENTORY: The store reminds me of visiting an estate sale, peeking at various corners for treasure. The store is well staged with pockets of goods. There is ample space to wander around. In terms of inventory, it is in pristine condition. Almost to the extent that you feel like you're buying something new. Forget funky smells or imperfections, you won't find them here. Prices vary but remain very reasonable. Items are quite unique - brooches, clothes, trays for entertaining, clutches, home decor, furs, art, and so much more. I really wanted to buy everything but limited myself to book ends. These book ends resembled actual books and were priced $12. That's considerably cheaper than book ends anywhere around the area at thrift stores. SERVICE: The owner of the shop is very friendly and welcoming. I loved that she chatted with me about other vintage stores even recommending a few. True community spirit. It made me love the store even more. If I didn't join the Coco's Selfie Space free tour, I would never in a million years find this place. Descending into this space feels like an adventure. How do you find it? Go to Coco's Selfie Space, go downstairs, and voilà! SPACE: The store is one open space inside Coco's Selfie Space. It very much feels like digging through an attic or maybe more accurately a basement. The space is filled with various shelves and tables overflowing with treasure. INVENTORY: This place seems to have everything even if the space is not that big. Vinyls, decor, nostalgic toys, clothing, shoes, books, art, and long forgotten relics (record player, phones, and typewriter). To be frank, most of the merchandise is very old, more thrift than vintage. Prices are all over the place from a few bucks to hundred (for toy Christmas train). I like to seek refined treasure, and only a few inventory pieces matched my taste. SERVICE: The owner Leslie is so nice to the guests. She offers options and gets as excited as you about the finds! She was very welcoming during my visit although I had no clue what I wanted (typical story). Leslie also shared with me that she hosts parties - tea or other parties. I recommend visiting this store just for the experience of going underground. You might love this store if you're looking for vintage collectible toys and vinyls. If I were in the area again, I don't think that I would visit the second time. And I wouldn't recommend visiting our first if you are interested in a Vintage shop, chock-full of vintage and stocked with a lot of styles and options.

The Creative Hangars (former City Goods) is a collaborative space of local makers in Hingetown…read more(Ohio City). I remember when City Goods was just born, and I first spotted their construction from the Church & State apartment rooftop. I figured that they must be new little homes, but they were actually shops full of local goods. I didn't even know what a hangar was until seeing these futuristic looking U shaped shops. The space recently transitioned from Ohio City ownership to the ownership of the founder (Sam Friedman of Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve). It's such an interesting destination in the city. NEW CREATIVE HANGARS: The City Goods used to have seven hangars encapsulating shops and a bar. As the Creative Hangars, the shops have been condensed to a single hangar with goods from about ten makers inside. The remaining hangars are vacant. While smaller scale, the remaining hangar is full of finds and same creative spirit. If you haven't visited in a while, please know that the same level of artistry lives on. MERCHANDISE: I stopped in many times at the former City Goods. I stopped in at the new Creative Hangars concept at the beginning of October. There is so much treasure hidden inside - shirts with local flair, pottery, wooden art, tees, cards, jewelry, tea, decor, baseball caps, and skincare. The first floor is full of souvenirs and CLE-spirited merch. Clothing goes up to XL. The second floor is devoted to Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve. During my visit I purchased a skin mask and a hair mask for self-care day from Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve. If you haven't used their products or heard their story, you must. It's a high-quality, botanically based local brand. Prices are pretty reasonable across the board considering the uniqueness and talent. I also love that most merch at the hangar features the Hope Memorial Bridge guardians. I love this architecture so much and obsess over everything with the guardians of traffic. SERVICE: The employee working at the store is also a jewelry vendor. She's so lovely and welcoming. I talked to her for a long time about the hangars' transition and the makers inside this space. It was great to get the human factor behind their merchandise. I feel like these stories often get lost at local shops. By the way, I learned that new artists' merchandise is welcome into the space in case anyone who is a creator is reading this review. I'd recommend a visit to anyone looking for self-care products or unique souvenirs. If you're visiting Cleveland, stop in to take away something unique to remember your time here. If you're from the Land, you'll love sporting your one of a kind CLE merch at the next sports event. I will be back very soon to shop for more Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve products.

I like to put a lot of thought into the items I give family and friends around the holidays and this is the perfect place to visit if that's your style, too. Everything here is locally made and thoughtfully curated by the owner. Bonus points for being woman-owned by the way. They carry everything from beautiful jewelry to high quality bath and body products as well as Cleveland sports items, clothing, and art. I was able to grab my dad a Cleveland Browns Christmas ornament. I know he'll love it and likely keep it up all year round as decoration. The prices were also pretty fair given that the items are not mass produced. I highly recommend you pay them a visit. Whether it's for the holidays, a special occasion, or to simply treat yourself. You're bound to find something special.
