Flower Child is a thrift store in Lakewood. The store is currently having a closing sale (70% off everything). They will be opening in a new space in November 2025. In its current state, Flower Child is walking into a retro basement that has decades of treasure! LAYOUT/INVENTORY: The store has two levels with multiple rooms of treasure. Both levels have similar merchandise - home goods, kitchen tools, some furniture, abundance of accessories, clothing, vinyls, and some interesting international decor. Just when you think you ran out of rooms, there are more rooms of treasure to browse. I especially loved the basement. Every room is a treasure hunt! If you wear petite sizes, this is a treasure trove of vintage clothing. You'll find tees, dresses, sweaters, and pants. The clothing is casual and functional. Check out all the clothing rooms on the main level and basement. VALUE: The discounts on merchandise of 70% is a great value. However, the initial prices are quite high considering the quality. Some of the clothing and items are very well loved. I don't see myself paying full prices for the items to be extremely honest. SERVICE: The staff was very nice to customers during checkout. There was a lot of excitement about the upcoming store move. They staff was always very busy. Personally, I wanted to ask about the pricing for a folk pin I was eyeing. There was no one to ask so I eventually gave up. I'm sure the service is more attentive during the regular days. PARKING: I was surprised to find a pretty large parking lot at the back of the building considering the location is in Lakewood. Amazing if you're carrying home a lot of treasure. I would recommend Flower Child to guests who enjoy digging for treasure. You definitely need maybe an hour to focus on each room without getting overwhelmed. Love the new place. Same things spread out and curated. So much to see all midcentury treasures. Furniture to smalls. A nice selection albums. Lots of jewelry some vintage wear as well. They need an even bigger place with more parking. You won't find great values but table sets with chairs were very reasonable. read more

I love everything about shopping here, the selection, the friendly staff, the vibe... here for it all! I hate I missed the Christmas swap this year. There's always next time! What a wonderland of ever changing trinkets, vintage galore, and an incredible array of clothing!! So many rooms of magic and wonder, so many nooks and crannies filled with decades worth of joy and fun. I absolutely LOVE this store! Was at the new place 2 days ago. I have to say I was horribly disappointed. I saw a blue sofa I do believe was $1,800.00. I would have purchased it for $ 200.00 less but there is no haggling on prices. This is now a retail shop not a re-sale shop. I know the owner from back in the day and will not find a kinder sweeter man. That being said I can't imagine ever going back. Funky store like walk back back in time! Clothes (vintage) and amazing decor pieces. Had to explain how phones used to work to my kids that was fascinating to see what it would be like to dial and be tethered to the wall. This is the coolest shop ever. Totally retro, vintage, 50s, 60s, 70s. The items are nice and clean. Everything is here. This place is so so cool! I came here for the first time yesterday afternoon. I regret not taking any pictures of this place but I was so in awe of everything, i forgot to take my phone out. This place looks small from the outside, but they have 2 floors of things so there are so many rooms to check out. They have home wares, clothes, jewelry, kitchen ware, records, etc. There are just so many items to check out! I ended up getting a dress, a skirt, and a necklace. I will definitely be back here when I come to visit Cleveland again! P.s- the owner said they have been here for 21 years and was very happy to be able to stay open throughout the pandemic. Came here at the suggestion of a couple friends. Loved that it was all decked out for Christmas! They had so much cool stuff over the two floors. I thought the prices were a touch high for some things. Over all though the quality of everything was excellent. I'll be stopping in every time I'm in town I'm sure to see what's new. read more

It is honestly so astounding to me that Flower Child doesn't have more recent reviews and photos. The photos others have uploaded are not reflective of this place at all. It's not creepy. In fact, it's the polar opposite. It's a visual treasure trove and an interesting place everyone should visit once. Even if you're not looking for something in particular, if you're in the area, just come explore. You'll have fun. Flower Child itself is two floors. The highlight, for me, is the furniture sections. They've curated several rooms of funky, crazy, colorful furniture sections filled with couches, decor, trinkets, and accessories. You'll find a gorgeously eccentric velvet tufted sofa next to an end table filled with hand-painted art and vintage frames that still have photos of beautiful people in them draped in fur in the 1950s. Honestly, to thoroughly investigate even one of those rooms takes significant time. They also have a really cool jewelry selection filled with statement pieces, costume jewelry, dainty pieces and nightlife pieces. Everything looks like it carries an interesting story... which is one of the reasons I love to vintage hunt. I'm an experienced vintage hunter. I often hear that people think that's "cool" and they "wish they knew how to do it." If you're one of these people, Flower Child is a great place to start. It's budget-friendly, the staff are willing to help you, and no one is going to cheat you out of anything (this isn't a super high-end place where you're looking for couture, though they might have some). This review is just for the staff. The woman with the greying hair, couldn't catch her name, was extremely rude and unprofessional. Not sure if it's because of the way I was dressed or the fact I just got my hair done but she had a pretty nasty attitude. She was showing he jewelry one minute, then completely ignored me when i asked to see something else and returned to filing records....I stood there dumbfounded. I spent over $100 on clothes regardless and they couldn't bother putting the red bow on the bag? Gross. This is not the service I typically get at the Flower child in Columbus where I have spent thousands of dollars. I won't be returning here. I came here yesterday with my dear friend as an alternative to Christmas shopping at a mall. I had the time of my life. It was an epic day. I glanced at a review who said something about Grandma's house. I damn near lost my mind when I saw the exact same, paint by number Jesus picture from the 40's or 50's that hangs in my Mother's childhood bedroom in the basement of flower child. I had my friend snap a picture of Jesus and I and texted it to my Mom (see attached). She said she almost fell out of her bed when she received it. I picked up two pictures of some old guy with a white man afro bowling and a little statue that says "World's Greatest Mom". I am giving that to my Mom for Christmas. Walking through the store is like stepping into a nice rift in time. We were talking about our experience there all night last night and we plan on returning today or soon. read more

As other reviewers have mentioned, Flower Child can be overwhelming. There are so many different rooms, all crammed with stuff. In my opinion, you will only have success if you know what you want and/or just love to shop for antiques and vintage. The selection is amazing and vast. I think the prices were reasonable, not too high. For vintage, they were standard. As a person who prefers thrifting over antiquing, the prices were much too high for me and my budget, but if I found a perfect piece, it wouldn't be unreasonable. I did enjoy browsing around the store and would recommend it to anyone who loves vintage. Clearly a lot of thought and care goes into what the store curates. read more

Love love love! If you don't mind wading through rooms and rooms and rooms of vintage, this place is for you. You think you're done, and then you just discover another nook and cranny. Literally, the place is broken up into random tiny rooms. It's a lot! The majority of the items are home goods and clothing. There's a tiny record section, but nothing huge. I was also a little bummed the jewelry selection was so small, but maybe it's not something they focus on. Clearly the focus is on clothes and home goods. You can probably find something from every decade, but it seems like the majority of things are 50-70's. I could have probably spent hours looking at all the items piled high but concentrated mostly on clothes. Which like I said, was broken up into tiny rooms. I'd say maybe 15 of them! There was no real rhyme or reason for the rooms in terms of organization. A couple rooms loosely had a theme, like coats or cardigans/jackets, but most was a hodgepodge. While it would have been nice to have it well organized... it's not necessarily something I expect. I expect to dig... which I did! I ended up with less than I though, probably because I had to dig and had a limited amount of time, but I came out with an adorable plaid 60's shift dress and a cool 50's cluster ring. If I had more time, I would have spent it on the home goods next, but my focus was on the clothes! Prices were all across the board. There were a few things I might have bought, but I thought it was a little overpriced. Unless it was my bad that I didn't recognize a brand name or that it was in pristine condition. My ring and dress came to a little under $50, which was totally reasonable to me. Can't wait to visit again to find some groovy decorations! read more

I've used this place frequently for unique gifts and just killing an hour or two on a lazy Sunday. There's a wide variety of merchandise, but the layout is confusing and there are some truly horrible things for sale there. Like, offensively bad. The price points are very steep- even basic, worn-out men's t-shirts top the $10 range because they have the logo of some bowling team from 1997 on them. My biggest complaint is how difficult it is to sell anything to them. I'd previously taken some furniture there, as well as a collection of promotional materials from paper and candy companies. The last time I walked in, I had a mid-century spice rack under my arm. I didn't even finish my sentence when the guy behind the counter rudely cut me off, saying only "not interested." He didn't even look all the way up! I asked him if he knew of any other dealers in the store who might be interested, and he got real smug and said "it's not our style," like I was trying to sell him a beat-up thrift store bathroom rug. It was a terrible interaction that's totally ruined my perception of the store and made me hesitant to ever buy anything there again. read more

An overwhelming maze of the later years. I think that about sums it up. I checked out around 5 other vintage shops in Cleveland on the same day and Flower Child kicked all the others in the rear. This place is just packed. Every turn you take you find more unique items. The racks are just full of clothing, all styles, sizes, colors, etc. I especially loved the little record corner. Dizzying array of everything under the sun...like the Matryoshka dolls of vintage stores. Just when you thought you've run out of racks of clothing to peruse, you turn a corner and boom, there's a whole other room hiding just beyond, waiting for you. It never ends... ...which is usually a good thing, unless you have a SO asleep in the car, waiting for you. Allocate plenty of time, bring some snacks and water, and wander to your heart's content. Very fun, and lots of smile-inducing items. Some things are totally overpriced, but for unique pieces and especially the clothing, there are plenty of gems waiting to be found. read more

Definitely a fun store! Packed with two full floors of inventory so it is hard to leave empty handed. The staff is friendly and helpful. I've found it hard to ask them specific questions about certain pieces though, they have usually been unsure about them. But that may be because there is simply so much inventory that you just can't know everything about everything there. It seems to be set up mostly as a self service store but they've always been more than accommodating when you need their help. They are perfect for picking up accessories, jewelry, and furniture. The price on most of the clothes is a bit steep for me but they are really fun to browse through! I just wish they had a fitting room. The selection of furniture is ever changing so you can visit frequently and there is always a ton of new stuff to look at. I love that they operate under normal business hours. Most vintage shops seem to have unusual hours and that makes them difficult to plan a visit to. My only minor complaint is that the pricing can seem a bit erratic. Some things seem to be greatly over priced while others are drastically under priced. It's hard to guess where the price tag will fall on an item. I went in here on a whim one day to look for a 50's-esque homecoming dress in high school. It was first love from that moment on. They have so much great stuff covering the 50s, 60s and 70s and it made me feel like I was walking into my great-grandmothers house. I have invested a small fortune in jewelry from that store as well as many accessories. It is way bigger inside than it lets on with an upstairs and downstairs there is a maze of great vintige finds and if you end up purchasing nothing you'll still leave with a great experience of sorting through lost momentos. One day I plan to nab home furnishings for my place (have to make enough money first) I put that this place is moderately priced but I have noticed somethings are more on the expensive side rather than moderate or cheap, but I still think it is completely worth it. read more

This might be the biggest vintage store I've ever seen. It's probably got as much stuff for sale as 3 or 4 normal-sized vintage stores, and almost all of it is great stuff in great condition. I don't know where they find all of it, but they've thoroughly covered the 50s, 60s, and 70s to the point that it's overwhelming. You can't go through the whole store in one visit because it's packed floor-to-ceiling on two floors. It's stunning, really. There are tons of clothes for both men and women, lots of furniture, housewares, records, accessories, jewelry, home decor...basically anything you'd want that's 30+ years old and not a car, a house, or wine. The only reason Flower Child gets 4 stars instead of 5 is it's pretty pricey. It's not totally unreasonable given the quality of their stuff, but you're not getting a discount for buying secondhand here. Also, organization is piss-poor and you really need time to wander and browse. For some this might be a positive, but I don't think anyone would argue with putting all the clothing in one room, or at least on one floor. Otherwise, this place is awesome. I haven't been to any other vintage places in the area, but if they're like this then I think I know how I'm spending the rest of my visit. read more

Going to Flower Child is trip to a different time and place. If it's vintage, this place has it. Clothing, furnishing, artwork, housewares, and everything else in between. Just when you've realized you spent the last hour debating if that aqua color kidney shaped ottoman will fit in your home you discover that there's a basement filled with more bric a brac to ogle. Good luck walking out of there without at least the slightest hesitation to purchase something.
