It was at this Liquor Barn location that I'd bought a bottle of Mumm's Champagne to toast a special…read moreoccasion, later that evening. When the bottle was opened the cork didn't provide the accompanying pop and the Champagne hadn't any fizz or bubbles. But I didn't have a backup bottle to toast with so we just proceeded with the festivities. The next day I'd returned to the store with the empty bottle and told the cashier what the disappointment was The first words out of her mouth were, "NO refunds!", followed by, "are you sure you bought this here?" even though she was holding the receipt and then the great question, "where did you drink it?" all this was capped off with, "what's to say the champagne was fine and you're just trying to get a free bottle?" I then asked to speak to the manager. The clerk went to the back and I could see here explaining to another lady whom I supposed was the manager. She came from the back of the store all the while shaking her head sideways. At the checkout counter and not even taking the time to introduce herself she opened the conversation with, "sorry no refunds! We then went through a similar dialogue as I'd had with the clerk. All this at the cashiers station with a lineup of people enjoying the show. Knowing that this wasn't going anywhere I took down her name and left. Her parting words as I exited were, "If you don't like it, write a complaint!" Sometimes you have to take things at face value and trust that people are honest. Accusing a customer of lying as the first remedy in handling product complaints doesn't bode well for a quality in a manager or the company they work for.
