A little too pricey for secondhand clothes. Staff is friendly and items in designated areas.

Very nice selection available and the owners are knowledgeable and helpful people to do business…read morewith. I always enjoy stopping by even if I don't end up buying anything. I've recommended Castle Gold & Silver to many friends with mixed reactions. It's not a New York City top tier name brand jewelry store. But that's the point. Most people don't understand that when you buy from a "fashion designer" jewelry brand you're paying a large mark-up for the name. Whereas when you purchase your jewelry from a shop like Castle, you'll be buying the actual value of the precious stones, metal, and workmanship. Oftentimes, you may even find some of those designer jewelry pieces which a customer received as a gift, but decided didn't suit her style. A true find for those of us who don't have the time for shopping trips out-of-town! In all, you can't go wrong by stopping by to see what's new at Castle Gold & Silver!

I went to lunch and came back afterwards and picked them up. Great personalities and good business sense; they didn't look down on me just because I'm only asking to replace watch batteries. But I was sold on Castle Gold and Silver last several years ago when I had a personally important watch that no one could repair: it was a solar powered watch and no one could or would touch it. I stopped in Castle G&S for new watch batteries and had this special watch with me. They looked at it and said "Sure, we can repair it." I told them to take their time and I'll pick it up next week when back in the area of town. Came back a week later and its held its time ever since. I take all my watches there now. Period. BTW, they also have a small but nice selection of SW jewelry.

The staff was so friendly and the woman at the front was very helpful in explaining what size would be best for me. Who knew I was sizing myself wrong the whole time! The ring came back perfect. The repairs were seamless and the ring was glistening even more beautifully than when we first got it from the manufacturer. Plus, I got a very helpful explanation about the delicate composition of my ring and was made to feel like I was welcome to come back if there were any problems. You can definitely trust this place with your precious jewelry

My soon to be husband went to this shop on the recommendation of a friend for my engagement ring…read more He had no actual diamonds to show him so we went elsewhere. When I decided to change the wedding band to go with my halo ring we went to him again. He recommended a curved band with some smallish diamonds in it. I asked almost joking what am I going to do with my original band that had much smaller diamonds in it. He suggested he mount them to my engagement ring shank. I asked how will that look? He said "beautiful". Sad to say, it did not look beautiful. The diamonds were buried in the shank, the tool marks very visible and to make things worse, the mountings were not equally set as far as depth goes. I went to him to let him know how I felt and he offered to put larger diamonds in it. Said those little diamonds are really hard to do. My question: why did he sell me on the idea? James gave me a price to do bigger diamonds that he said was special. I checked around. It was not. So now I have the original wrecked wedding band, and an engagement ring that now looks somewhat homemade. I feel I gave James who seems like a nice guy, the opportunity to make it right. He did not. And he will not get that opportunity again with me. I had met with another custom jeweler here in Santa Fe (MH). We have planned a very thoughtful design with much time involved to remedy the issues and says that if I am not thrilled, he will remake the rings until I am thrilled. I did want a slight alteration and he was happy to do so.

This is the kind of place that might buy my Mom's old silverware set, which is sitting in the closet back home in Genoa Nevada. I'll note that my experience here is on the buying side, rather than selling. I did find a portion of a display case of interest and proceeded to have a nice conversation with a very knowledgeable woman who walked me through each one that I expressed interest. I actually found a nice little "Victorian" sewing case that was very well priced. I haven't yet decided what I'm going to do with it, past admiring the design and craftmanship. But that's part of the fun in places like this, that really require repeat visits to peel back the onion.

Their prices are fair and they are always happy to take the time to discuss each piece - what the stones are, where they came from, how the piece was made etc. Their knowledge and generosity of spirit are incredible.
