Today I walked in and asked them to replace 5 watch batteries, and then they evaluated the watches and gave me an estimate totally within the ballpark, and Wednesday is their "watch batteries are half price" day. I went to lunch and came back afterwards and picked them up. Great personalities and good business sense; they didn't look down on me just because I'm only asking to replace watch batteries. But I was sold on Castle Gold and Silver last several years ago when I had a personally important watch that no one could repair: it was a solar powered watch and no one could or would touch it. I stopped in Castle G&S for new watch batteries and had this special watch with me. They looked at it and said "Sure, we can repair it." I told them to take their time and I'll pick it up next week when back in the area of town. Came back a week later and its held its time ever since. I take all my watches there now. Period. This is definitely a great place to go shop for used fine jewelry such as watches, necklaces, rings, bracelets and etc. You can also sell your jewelry and they test it for authenticity. They also repair watches. I took my dad's watch that the band was too long and they made it to his size. The team of folks are very professional and respectful. This is the third time I have been to Castle in the past three weeks. They have lowest prices in the city on watch batteries - I needed 5 for my watch collection - and saved quite a bit. Also This is the third time I sold some jewelry and again they beat the prices offered by any stores in the area. The employees have decades of experience between them on coins and bullion. They constantly have new watches and jewelry coming in so it's worth going frequently to spot a new favorite. read more

I needed two batteries and went by the reviews. I was not disappointed. Friendly staff and honest. I had a unique watch carabiner and the employee said he needed my permission to continue to work on the carabiner as it was not the usual watch carabiner they ever had worked on and gave me the possible scenarios of what may take place once they opened the back of the watch. With permission, he was very relieved to be able to replace the battery successully. Being unaware it was on a Wednesday when I was at the shop, he advised me that it was senior day and that I would get 50% off for the batteries. I had been to Castle Gold before to sell my gold that I didn't want and got what I thought was a decent price. This time, I came in with my beautiful Sterling silver earrings that still had my tags from an attempt to sell them at a too quiet shop. The staff tested them and formed a pile of my best Vintage, unique Artist produced earrings that I collected when living in New York City. Simply beautiful and expensive merchandise. The 8 earrings would easily run about $300-$400 retail when resold. I was offered $52. I understand a business needs to hold off about 20% to make a profit, but she did not weigh the marked silver. To me, this was not a fair offer. This was an effort to exploit someone. An attempt to gouge someone who might be in need. I'm a former 9/11 rescue worker who wants to pay off some bills but I kept my dignity intact and walked out. I chose to write this review instead. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

I highly recommend this business. A few years back they fixed my wedding ring, gold ring had worn thin, and a couple of prongs were missing. Ring looked like new when picked it up. Recently I was taking my ring off and the diamond popped off. Took it to get it fixed, went to pick it up. Ring looked like new again, but I noticed that one of the small baguettes on the side was missing, I hadn't noticed it before. The lady looked and apologized that they did not notice either. So, I left it there, it was going to be about $50 to fix it. My ring is about 24 years old. Got a call about 15 minutes later that they would fix it, replace the baguette, at no charge. The place buys gold and silver, so when I was there waiting for my watches (the jeweler was happy to do them while I waited), a number of people got buzzed in to have their wares appraised by the lady that was there, but none of them were happy with the amount offered. When we purchased items we believed we were treated well, given great deals, and actually left very happy. We recently have had some issues, and found we needed to leverage some of our investments in order to stay afloat. That's when we found that we were all but lied to, the items we were so proud of were almost worthless. I even brought a diamond ring back to Castle, under guise of selling jewelry, to hear them tell me that the ring I purchased from them for 200$(which i understand us not a lot) they would only offer 35$ to buy back. To be fair, after I explained what happened, and how upset I was to learn these things, they did bump the 35 to 48, on a ring that a pawn broker wouldn't even accept for collateral. read more

I went in for a watch repair. I had broken the band on my watch. The 2 gentlemen working were extremely friendly. It turns out my watch needed a new pin. The gentlemen replaced it with a (heavy duty) pin in a short amount of time. I pulled out my wallet to pay for the repair, but the very nice gentlemen would not charge me.
