I have my two kids attending to UBM both of them enjoy it very much, my oldest one is now in a public school, but the foundation they created it is great. My little one is currently attending , he loves to go and learn,I can feel his joy of going to school and learn more and more I can't thank them enough for all the great work they do in a daily bases keeping our kids number one safe Number two engage happy and learning at the same time. Highly recommend UBM but it's true is not for everybody :) you need to be committed with your self and your kids. And wanting for your kids to have a great structure ..... Great choice read more

Upward Bound Montessori (UBM) is a wonderful place to start early childhood education! If you look for a school that is calming, full of personal attention, and focusing on whole child development, I highly recommend this school. UBM is a family-oriented school. Mr. Patrick and Ms. Lei are always very calm when they receive children in the morning and release them in the afternoon no matter how stressful the transition is for the child or parent(s). School leadership and the guides are highly reachable and responsive to parents' requests. Their focus on development of the children shows in their guides. They have stable lead guides and focus on their Montessori education, certification, and continued development. Our son started in UBM when he was 21 months old and graduated when he was five and a half years old; he only had two lead guides, one for pre-primary and one for primary. UBM focuses on whole child development and parent education. Let's face it, as parents we're not all experts in child development, and UBM is there to help us. They conduct multiple workshops each semester to educate parents about child development and Montessori education. This includes recommending various parenting books to refine parental styles to better work with their children at home, especially to understand and have a more peaceful time while their children are going through the "terrible 2's." We are able to have constructive conversation with our lead guide, Ms. Sandy, and head of the school, Ms. Lei, to get advice on how to best work with our son. We found great value in their wisdom for understanding children and teaching us how to properly recognize and respond to their needs. UBM provides a solid and strong academic education in language, art, math, geography, etc. We observed our son's academic progress over the years and are very impressed on what he has learned at UBM, most importantly his ability to think and solve problems. As any true Montessori program should deliver, the practical education he received at UBM is a solid foundation for life. As part of their focus on the whole child, Mr. Patrick hand picks excellent enrichment programs in the afternoon such as art, piano, soccer, chess, and dancing. He is particular to ensure each program provides value to the children, as the old adage goes that you should be getting what you're paying for. I toured several "Montessori" schools looking for authenticity to no avail. Finally I stumbled upon this gem. Both my boys attend Upward Bound Montessori and absolutely love it. It's an AMS fully accredited school which means the guides are constantly getting in training and refreshers. They are so respectful of the children and treat them so well. My favorite part is that they often have free workshops for enrolled parents to guide you towards a more Montessori environment at home which in my opinion is key for the whole thing to work as intended. It's owned by the most caring couple you could imagine. It's small,(a plus on my book)but the Montessori curriculum is very well embedded in EVERYTHING they do. I can't say enough about the school. It's beautiful, simple, everything has a place and everything is it's place. Walk in there one day, you won't hear a normal daycare, the kids are so engaged and concentrated on their work, it's beautiful. Also it's the only Montessori school I found that actually has a mixed age group classroom for both pre-primary and primary, the way it's supposed to be. I can't say enough wonderful things about this school. Finding this place has been an incredible blessing in the lives of our family. The teachers are loving and well trained in child development and authentic Montessori practices. The owners are "masters of their trade" so to speak and run things in a kid centric and organized manner. Both of my children have celiac disease and everyone in their staff goes out of their way to ensure that my children are safe at all times. Knowing that I can leave my children with this special need in the care of others and trust that I can let go of my worry because I have full confidence in their care and concern for my children's health has been invaluable and something I will be forever grateful for. My children love their teachers and look forward to going to school every day. They have thrived here and we are so happy to have found this place. read more

I rarely write reviews. Just look at my profile for example. Sadly, I must write this one as my child graduates. Nonetheless, it's my duty and pleasure to do so. Upward Bound Montessori School is a shadow of the heavens. My wife and I have been so blessed by the education and family atmosphere UBM provided us. I HONESTLY wish UBM had a cradle to grave program. My wife and I would've keep our family enrolled forever. UBM not only educates our children but they show adults how to be better parents and consequently, better people. It's simply everything my wife and I could have hoped for. School Master P (my nickname for Mr. Patrick), Mrs. Lei, and staff are top notch. They don't rest on that fact either. They're constantly updating their knowledge through associations etc.. They're physicians in their own right. Craftsman in the development of young minds. If you're looking for a place to babysit your children this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a place that is willing to toil in the work of building a SOLID educational foundation, propelling your child ahead of the pack in a competitive world... call them. This school may not be a fit for your child. Our daughter attended this school for four months when she was 2 and a half. She is a very responsible, happy and kind kid . I would describe our time at UBM as very stressful for her and to this day feel some regret for sending her there. While attending UBM she seemed less joyful, had trouble sleeping and her imitation of school when playing even seemed stressful. We changed schools and within about a week was back to her happy self. It was hard to leave UBM mainly because I really believe that Montessori has so many positives but it seemed like academics and even more so conformity were more important at this school than warmly respecting who the child is as an individual. At the age we enroll our kids in a pre-Elementary school like this many of us are new to parenting and tend to trust who we consider to be the "experts" in whatever context. After this experience I learned a powerful lesson; in the end I will trust our children and my heart while I consider what the "experts" say. These are such important formative years for them. So again this school may not be a fit for your child and that means nothing negative of you or them. read more
