I love that they are in my neighborhood and super flexible. Martin Morin is an RMT and Reiki practitioner who works with them and I have to give him a special recommendation - I am healing from some illness and his combination of deep tissue massage, Reiki and caring has been a huge part of my healing journey. I would recommend him highly for those of us healing and those of us who are just looking for a kick ass practitioner! He is a GEM!

I chose massage addict…read morebecause I'd been told it was a good place to get a cheap massage, but, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I didn't find out until after that this is a chain (the McDonalds of massages if you will). The receptionist wasn't very friendly or helpful and the masseuse also showed little to no personality. I felt very much like the next person on the conveyor belt. The masseuse just didn't seem very friendly, the environment was cold. None of the people there seemed to like being there. Just seemed like a bad work environment which was reflected in the attitudes of the staff. The massage was okay. It was a little heavy handed and since I was there for an injury I didn't feel like the masseuse spent the appropriate time assessing the injury itself or talking to me about the pain. Any other massage I've been to they've really assessed what was going on before starting which made me sort of feel like the therapist at massage addict didn't really know what she was doing. I'd recommend going to one of the many locally owned smaller massage businesses in town where the masseuse cares about their work because it's their business.

After seeing a doc, I needed to find a physiotherapist. A friend recommended Citadel. It was a convenient location for me and I was able to make an appointment fairly quickly. The physiotherapist was exceptionally helpful and I made a quick recovery. I did have some lingering issues and a re-injury several months down the road so I also made use of their fabulous massage therapist. Front desk staff probably aren't why you'd go but they are outstanding: they remembered me every time after my first visit and made completing the forms easy.

I feel compelled to remove a Remedy Spa star based on my experiences here in the last 6 months…read more What with being a pretty big fan of this spa when it initially opened I was (evidently) one of the first people to end up on the spam list. I remember why I had initially forked over my contact details to RS and it was because they occasionally have open house events where you can try products and even receive free (micro session) services like paraffin treatments. Uhh, free spa services!? Show me the dotted line! Several months later I did however start to notice that I was receiving multiple promotional offers/month in my email as well as being sent junk mail in snail mail version! Haughtily, I informed RS that I wanted to receive no more junk and yet somehow still receive the occasional email... At least the paper waste has stopped... I guess? My second gripe with RS was over an encounter I had in late July. I even booked this 50% off wax session from Vancouver, weeks in advance... I was THAT pumped about being back to the land of reasonably priced lady services! Upon arriving, I had an extremely awkward conversation with my esthetician about what *type* of service I would be getting. Trying to cajole someone into ripping MORE hair from between your legs is, I assure you, uncomfortable even for an extrovert. Perhaps you have had this happen before? Where you have been inadvertently booked into a smaller time window than your desired service will take? The real crux in all of this was that whomever I had booked with had not asked which service I wanted and what ultimately came to light was that my wax lady had NEVER DONE A FULL BIKINI WAX BEFORE. She was therefor too nervous to try on me (hey, me too once I found this out!) and I ended up paying for and leaving with a) not the service I had wanted and b) a rather crooked and sloppy job upon at home inspection. To be fair, we've all started new jobs before and I guess there's no school for bikini waxing with faux hippy bush dummies to practice on but come on... I hope my next experience at Remedy is more customer oriented! I will for sure be clarifying repeatedly in future which service I want as well as requesting a more experienced wax-er.

When I reached the tastefully designed landing, the smell of warm citrus was like a veil, calming me instantaneously and giving me the desire to be fully pampered. I entered into the small space and was greeted by sunlight and shelves of properly placed products. The lady at the desk was on the tele, so I grabbed a pamphlet and perused the skin care goodies. While reaching for the price list, I noticed an assortment of alcohol bottles and martini glasses - I was wooed right then and there into wanting a Sex & the City moment to call my own. The Farmhouse Fresh products looked sassy and sweet, with yummy smells and gorgeous packaging. There was a foot treatment called the Honey Heel Glaze, selling for $24, which looked like a lovely product. Remedy also carries OPI nail products and a variety of other soothing and rejuvenating luxury items to make your epidermis glow! I loved the look and feel of this place and was glad I opted to head up the stairs to check this place out. The smell alone is enough to calm even the most wound-up of souls, and should be a service in itself. I adore this Facial Bar and would love to have a treatment here.

RMT Stephen Head owns and operates the business and is my favourite RMT in HRM! Stephen is friendly and professional. He has created a comfortable space and curated his staff to meet clients needs. He always makes sure I'm relaxed, warm enough and will even let me choose the music! After massages Stephem always makes recommendations on stretches, water intake and other helpful tips. Frequently they have offers on facebook or for last minute bookings but their prices are competitive, low enough to be below the reasonable customary charge as considered by Blue Cross and Sun Life medical plans. They can direct bill to most medical plans and uses an online booking system that emails reminders and confirmations, which are easy to cancel or reschedule. As an added bonus they offer aromatherapy with essential oils, customizing a scent to the mood you'd like or just using the oil you prefer. Downside for inaccessibility with the stairs to get to this second floor business but it's worth the hike.
