I am originally from Little Rock Arkansas and I when I was planning my trip I knew that this was on the top of my list of things to do. When I first arrived I pulled into the parking area and the parking was free to the left! We ended up parking a little ways away but it was okay because the walk wasn't bad. There is a cute park on the way if you have littles. When I first walked in they had dogs to adopt (greyhounds) and they were the sweetest dogs. Then I walked into the farmers market and they were farmers there with all of their produce. I ended up buying blood Oranges from K Hall. I was a little bummed because they didn't have fresh flowers because that's what I wanted. They had someone selling soaps, purses clothes etc. We walked inside of the building that has all of the food. We ended up buying a cookie from Bea Bakery and get a cup for water. This place is fun to walk around. There are plants, trees, some succulents I think, a few herbs,…read morethough not as many as I'd like; very few seeds and bulbs, and some rotting vegetables (well it's true) in the fridge with cheese, ice cream and other random fun stuff. They have jars of jam and salsa now too, and tilapia fry, and you can buy rock and gravel and dirt. The staff are super hardworking & whatever they're making, probably deserve a raise. A lot of the plants, maybe most actually, aren't priced; what is, has increased in price since we last came in. : ( Well, someone has to pay for those raises. : ) I wish their houseplant and tree selection was more inspired, but it seems right now they're more focused on the hydroponic lettuce side of things. They could sell more yard decorations, or pots and garden tools, as there's a huge unused indoor space, but maybe that's in the works. Tip: don't go on a very rainy day. Hard to find! Cool…read morelittle home-grown orchard chock full of well-cultivated Muscadine vines, a couple different varieties, weighed down with delicious muscadines. We came hunting for a "Pick your own muscadines" spot where we could pick up fruit for our homemade wine, and this was just the ticket! FYI, cash only, just saying :) After winding up and down, left and right, through tiny country roads, enjoying the scenery enough to make a few wrong turns, we found this little gem down a narrow dirt road that opens out (barely) to a small muscadine vineyard. We were greeted as we stepped out of our cars by Alan, who is the one-man band here! Alan runs the business out of a pop-up canopy next to the vineyard, he's got a stash of buckets for you to use while picking, and then some cardboard flats for you to take home with whatever you get. Keep in mind it is seasonal, open from late August through October, harvest only. Call ahead! Alan is a really nice, helpful guy. He walked us through the process, helped us pick a little while telling us all about the vineyard, the types of muscadines, the best ways/places to pick them - and the jam. Oho, that jam! He makes homemade jam that's a nice bonus along with the fresh fruit. Super informal, very relaxed and laid back. Heck, I'd go out just for the drive and a few muscadines!
