I worked with Valley West Mortgage on my home purchase last September. I found them after comparing…read morerates with a couple other lenders, and Kevin with Valley West agreed to match the best rate with an additional lender credit that ultimately made their offer the best one. Initially, everything in the process went fairly smoothly. However, that all changed about 1 week before closing. First, that lender credit that was agreed upon? That was mysteriously gone from the final closing disclosures. After confronting Kevin about it, he said I lied about the offers I had compared (which makes no sense as I directly showed him the actual loan disclosure documents from the other mortgage lenders) and refused to honor the previously agreed upon lender credit despite the obvious evidence I had in writing. When I asked him if he was willing to blow up the deal over this, he simply replied "yup." After contacting other lenders to try to get away from supporting Valley West after this poor business practice, I realized I would be stuck continuing with Valley West if I wanted to close on my house anywhere near the initially discussed closing date. That leads me to the next issue: the closing date. 3 days before closing, I received some communication from Valley West that led me to believe there were some documents being processed that would take until the following week to be finished, which hold up the closing. Based on this, I contacted Celeste (who was working with me on procuring said documents) and found out that they somehow had my closing date in their system as 8 DAYS LATER than the actual closing date. They never asked or communicated this date to me at any point before. To this day, I have no idea how they arrived at that date, as my closing date had already been set well before I had initially contacted their office. Regardless, this flub resulted in me having to contact my home insurance to change the move-in date to the correct one (which Valley West had changed with them without my knowledge or consent), and to contact the title company who informed me they were working closely on getting Valley West to clean up a number of errors in the documents including having entirely too much property tax taken out. All of this sounds like a 1-star review, right? Well ultimately, Valley West was able to crank it out and meet the original closing date successfully so I felt 2-stars was appropriate based on that. But would I ever recommend using them to anyone else as a mortgage lender? Not in a million years.

I often had to call them asking a myriad of questions, so I decided to move on to another lender. I then called Steve Berger with Coastal Capital Funding here in Henderson, Nevada. From the onset Steve explained his strategy and the best course of action to obtain a loan. Not only that, he advised me that I can use another VA loan to purchase my home thus cutting costs and reducing my APR. Something that was never told to me from the previous lender. During the entire process, he and his wife, who work together, assisted me with all the paperwork, they made calls on my behalf, they sent out all forms for me to sign, they advised me at all times on what to expect, both he and his wife made sure that all the paperwork was signed accurately and submitted accordingly. When there was a hiccup or an issue, he immediately got on it to rectify the problem. I was constantly on the phone with him making sure that everything was submitted on a timely basis. He always answered his phone immediately and or returned my call shortly after calling him. My experience with Coastal Capital Funding was flawless. I felt I was a valued customer. I felt he cared and joked about many things while on the phone which made the entire process run smoothly and effortlessly. Mark had me reach out and speak with his wife Leslie McGarry, who apparently was or is the one who handles loans at their office, which begs the question: what does Mark do? After providing my entire financial history from the past 2 years online, I waited to hear back from either of them with some kind of progress report. Sadly, they never bothered to get back to me. When I got around to following up with Mark, he never got back to me. I then reached out to his wife Leslie and expressed my disappointment with the way they had treated me. Her response was "I am so incredibly sorry. I was out of the office on an emergency family matter. This is in no reflection of my level of service. I will follow thru with everything as we speak." That was on May 20, 2019. Today is June 10, 2019 and I have yet to hear back. So much for her "level of service". This has been a very bad experience for me and I cannot recommend using these folks anytime soon. As an aside, the realtor who recommended them also ghosted me for no apparent reason. I can only assume that I was not a big enough fish for them and instead of doing the right thing and letting me know they cannot help me, they simply ignored me instead. So I had the income as well as the credit score and applied Leslie called me back told me I was pre-approved. She than asked me did I have a realtor I told her no, she said her husband was a realtor she I was like great absolutely the WORST decision I ever made in my life. Both Leslie and her husband knew I was a single mother of three handsome boys, that I was taking care of my mother in California. They act like they cared but the reality is they did not. Due to Cov19 and the government shutting down I never closed on my dream home. As a Realtor Mark McGarry was suppose to protect his client. I gave my earnest deposit of and since he did not sign a contingency to extend my loan I lost my earnest money. Mark ensured that my earnest money was secure not only was he misleading but did not care about anything but the loan closing. Both him and Leslie knew I had to be out the house I was staying in, which me and my kids was leaving in a hotel they did not care at all. So with that being said CMG financial Mark the realtor is absolutely the worst, with no heart especially when it comes to business there only concern was the loan closing that never closed.
