Maybe the experience is just different if you eat meat? My husband and I ordered two vegetarian wraps, and they were unremarkable. Nothing bad, but seriously lacking in flavor. In fact, we were so disappointed in our wraps, after we finished we actually had a second lunch at KeBox down the road. On the other hand, I appreciated that the wraps are inexpensive. And yes, you should know that depending on which approach you take to get to this restaurant, the Chateau d'Eau metro stop is... intimidating. Urfa Dürüm is a delicious Kurdish find in the city of Paris. Known for its homemade and baked to order flatbreads, it's a fantastic choice for lunch. I enjoyed watching them prepare my wraps every step of the way. I ordered a few wraps (agneau- lamb, viande- beef, et poulet- chicken). I highly recommend the agneau (lamb) wrap! Each meat wrap contains inside: salad, tomatoes (you can pull them out there are only 2/3 pieces), and onions. Not sure what the veggie wrap consists of. Unfortunately, UD doesn't sell drinks with the exception of their house drink- a Kurdish speciality. So you'll have to bring your own or buy one at one of the other lunch places nearby. If you have never been here before it may be very confusing to order. Here are some steps to help guide you: 1. Figure out exactly what wraps and how many you want (lamb, chicken, beef, or vegetarian) prior to going to the place. 2. Ignore the line... Pass everyone and go directly to the person rolling and baking the homemade flatbreads in the window. 3. When you get to this person, tell them what wraps and how many you want. (Note: If you are in a group- make one order if you are paying together OR if you are paying separately each person should make their own order.) 4. Go directly to the back of the line and wait. You don't have to pay until later. You'll see that the line is only for people who have ordered, and you are served in this order. 5. When you get inside, someone will ask you to repeat your order. They will tell you the price and you can pay. They will also ask you if it is for here (ici: pronounced "E-Sea") or to go (emporter). The order of this step varies. 6. The brochettes (kebabs) are MAGNIFIQUE! We were fortunate enough to have Urfa Durum nearby on our recent stay in Paris. Durums are essentially flatbread wraps filled with grilled meats, veggies and cheese. What makes the flavors so wonderful is the freshness of all the ingredients from the freshly baked wrap to the grilled meats (lamb, chicken, etc). Definitely the best dürüm in Paris. The lamb dürüm is especially tasty. We also love the lahmacun, which, if you eat in, they serve with a plate of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and lemon, to garnish it yourself. (If you order the lahmacun to go, they garnish it for you.) These go well with a cup of ayran from the fountain hidden around the side of the counter. The owner is quite personable. He stands by the window, kneading the dough and sliding the flatbreads into the oven. There's often a line, and there's limited seating on funny low stools, both inside and out. We came here 3 times. They make the flatbread right there and bake it to order. The meat is grilled over a charcoal of some kind. They throw on the veggies & herbs - always super fresh and crunchy and tasty - and then put on the meat as it's ready. I don't eat meat so I had the vegetarian 3 times and it had a suuuuper delicious cheese in it. The husband had the lamb, the beef, and the lahmacun. He LOVED the lamb and beef. He said the lahmacun was a acquired taste. Just one wrap is perfect for a meal - but you may want to buy another one for later!! We ate a lot here and I think this may be our favorite spot. Contrary to what the reviews have been, the price was not cheap (maybe cheap for Paris standards?) and had bad cuts of meat.. we ordered the lamb And chicken.. which had big chunks of fat in the lamb and chicken was poorly marinated.. wish it had some more tanginess to make up for the greasy taste.. the wrap also was small and not much veggies.. The area around can also be daunting (many people strolling and watching you like a hawk) so best to avoid area close to station chateau de eau. Finally the Adana I have missed! Though I don't know how to distinguish between Turkish and Kurdish food precisely, as a Turkish person I can say it was the closest lamb wrap (with delicious spices of course, and onion-sumac-parsley triad is a must) I could find in Paris that resembles the ones we actually have back home. Of course the real tradition to have a long table full of mezes (aubergine salad, red pepper etc.) and the drinks, ayran or even better, şalgam (turnip juice). I read something about Anthony bourdain and so thought we should give it a shot. It was a hot day and the restaurant is a small hole in the wall that is even hotter inside because of their furnace and grill. I'm not blaming them for that just saying. I ordered the lamb wrap and my friend the beef. I thought the wrap was dry, and the lamb wasn't that flavorful. It was good in that the bread used for the wrap was fresh and the herby ingredients worked well together, but it left me wanting more. I wouldn't say this is a must stop, just like some of the falafel places around Paris are by no means must stops. read more
