Sorry- won't do the test... they play off obvious signs of life threatening illness and tell you to make an appointment for out patient care. THEN they can address it. My husband wanted to take me to the doctor to get seen because I haven't been feeling well for the past couple of days. We got there at 10:00 am and I expected a long wait in the waiting room. I updated paperwork with my new married name and turned it in to the front desk. The front desk obviously did not update my information because I was continuously called by my maiden name, which caused confusion. I told the nurse that my name should be updated now according to my insurance. I did not get a response from her. Then when the doctor came in to take a look she kept saying "it is not Covid. I will test you for the flu. I can test you for covid but I do not recommend it cause it will come back negative." I trusted this doctors word. My husband was alarmed because I was showing symptoms of covid even though they are mild (thank the Lord) but we allowed the flu test. The tech came in to administer the flu test and then said it would be a couple of minutes. After 1 hour and 15 min I asked my husband to please check at the nurses station for the test and he came back saying the nurse was "working on it". No one came to check on us or tell us if we were next to have our test results done. I understand the healthcare system is very overloaded and I appreciate/respect all doctors, nurses, and medical professionals. However, we ended up waiting in that exam room for 2 hours without anyone coming to speak with us about my test. When I asked another nurse to please check I told her that they had my name wrong in the system so it could be my maiden name or my married name. The doctor came back into the room and responded "oh it's you." And darted back to find my test results. It ended up being that my results were just laying in a pile and no one had come to check on us. The doctor came back and said my flu test was negative but she did not recommend I have a covid test taken. We left very upset and went to another office called urgent MD and was treated within 30 min of being there and was out by another 20 min. It turns out I am positive for the covid virus. The bottom line is I trusted that doctor at this office to make a diagnosis and to help me get well. But because of miscommunication and no follow up I could have infected hundreds of people at my job, grocery store, and etc. The doctor was somewhat apologetic like I said but I feel as though I was not treated correctly because I did not have severe symptoms. However without proper treatment I could have really developed bad symptoms and also infected many people.

I know it seems weird that someone who like a hospital because of the food but it's true. While I was in the care of this hospital I would countdown the minutes when it's time to eat!!! The food was just that good to me!!! I was admitted to the hospital for a case of MRSA under my right arm and weeks after for pneumonia that I probably got from not exercising my lungs while in the hospital. Both cases were very hard on me, but the nurses made me feel so comfortable and loved that I couldn't ask for anything better. On my stay for MRSA, I was moved to several rooms during my time there. Doctors say it was because MRSA is very resistant to treatment and can spread quickly so they did this so it wouldn't get worse. So both of my stays were quite pleasant, even though I was dealing with life-threatening issues. I know many people have horror stories about hospitals and even this one but I don't have those tales to tell. It was great to receive excellent care here and I trust Doctor's Hospital with my life!!!!

For my very first review of the year, I'd like to write specifically about Dr. Paige Ward, one of…read morethe doctors here at this practice. I cannot stress the importance of a good support team when you're a new parent. It takes a village to raise a child but when it's just you and your hubby, a phenomenal pediatrician saves is a lifeline when you have those sleepless nights worrying about your child. As a proud first time mom who has absolutely no experience raising children, I had a lot of questions when my baby was born. How do I hold her? Is that noise coming out of her normal? is she supposed to be cross-eyed? She coughed. Does that mean she's sick? And so many poop questions. You'll be surprised how much you learn about poop and gas and farting when you become a parent. As a mom who has a special needs child, my concerns are a little different than some other parents. I have to worry about her ability to breathe on her own, swallow, and hold her head. I have tiny white hairs on my head that basically serve as a timeline for when I get the most stressed and how long I've been stressed. Routine checkups aren't typical checkups for us and after 2 months of being in and out of the hospital, I can confidently say I've lucked out with one of the best doctors in Augusta. And I'm so grateful she's looking after my daughter. I have seen Dr. Ward practically once every other week and she has never once made us feel rushed, uncomfortable, or uneasy with anything that was going on in the exam rooms. She walks in with a big warm smile (in a very timely manner by the way), listens to every concern you have, handles your child like they were her own and pushes for the best possible treatment options for your baby as well. She asks if your opinion on any other doctors seeing your child and really encourages you to open up 'cause as she likes to say, "this is what I would do if it was my child." We always walk out of the office feeling confident and uplifted because our daughter's doctor has never once let us down. We go home with more knowledge, a game plan and a follow up plan every single time. It's the best feeling in the world knowing that someone so amazing has made it their business to make sure your kid is their top priority. And it's not just when you're in the exam room. We've received follow up calls at home and at the hospital from her personally because she's just that compassionate. All doctors should be like her. If I won the lottery, I'd pay beautiful people to shower the ground she walks on with rose petals like in "Coming to America." And yes, she really does deserve it.

Then tells me "So get your ADHD meds approval from your therapist, we will sign a contract and i will see you in 9 months when your baby is born with complications and youre not breastfeeding" i say well no i dont want to take the meds if its going to cause complications, thats what i was trying to ask and learn about. Then proceeds to continue going into drug abuse, drug addiction and how dangerous ADHD meds are etc. All very aggressive and targeted towards me. Then says "ill need to drug test you to give you the medication" i said okay thats fine. Then leaves and ends the appointment. Doesnt ask if I have any other questions, just leaves and does no other physical exam, questions about my health, any medical history, nothing. This is the correct order of operations by the way. All while im trying to be friendly and genuine and hes completely walled off and acting like im looking for adderall, when in fact i had no time to speak up and ask about other medications that were not Adderall or Ritalin. This appointment made me feel 100% dismissed, unheard, unseen physically and emotionally, and scared of doctors. I am having a baby, which is serious and i want to be taken serious. I also feel extremely uncomfortable with Dr Wallentines presence and as if he had no empathy or emotion during the visit and it was extremely forced. I immediately went into the truck in the parking lot and cried for 20-30 minutes, hyperventilating and having a panic attack. I realized how he didnt even check on me at all. Never asked how i was. Never did a physical exam, and only came in sat on his chair and treated me and talked to me like a drug addict. I had a long sleeve shirt and shorts on, so maybe he was thinking i was hiding marks on my arms. When really ive been having cold and hor flashes for weeks now and cant regulate my body temperature because im pregnant. On top of that i said several times i havent been to a doctor in 2-3 years. So i need to be seen. The nurse also almost forgot to ask if i was allergic to anything and I am. I told her i am 5 weeks pregnant, and i would like a normal check up and labs. And i also mention towards the end, I would also like to discuss ADHD medications with my doctor.
