Very good clinic to take my cat to the reason for 4 stars is the $475.00 was a bit steep for cleaning out a wound caused by a scratch or possible botfly. The doctor and staff were kind and courteous towards my wife and I and our dear Sidney. They gave him anti inflammatory meds for the swelling and 2 weeks of antibiotics in a shot. I just want to leave my story here It hurts my soul to see this post, I trusted Urgent Vet, my cocky felt bad on Wednesday afternoon, I tried to call and find an appointment at the place where they have always treated him Stand For Animals Veterinary, they did not answer me, I sent an email to the Doctor who treated him in August and she told me that he had problems in the urine and ordered me to give him antibiotics, yes we gave it as the Doctor told me, on Thursday he woke up better, but on Friday morning he did not get out of his bed, I sent an email to his Doctor to see if she could recommend a place to take him because I saw he was in bad shape, the Doctor recommended Urgent Vet and told me that it was not so expensive there, she made the appointment for 5 in the afternoon, we took him with my son, I paid for the X-rays that were almost $ 700 dollars, they told me that he needed surgery, that he had stones and that He urgently needed the surgery that cost $4000 or it could be more and that I couldn't take him because he was in very bad shape, and that if I didn't have the money for the surgery there were two options: 1) call a shelter to take care of the surgery but we would lose all rights to Cocky or the other was to put him to sleep. We couldn't pay that amount so we ourselves helped find a shelter to operate on him. We couldn't allow Cocky to suffer, and we never, ever authorized that he be sacrificed or put to sleep. We have had Cocky four years and we love him with all our heart and strength. He always had his medical exams and vaccinations up to date every year. My children love him, my husband and I love him, especially my 9 year old son who hasn't stopped crying and suffering since that day, and all because we were not in a good economic position at the moment, but all our family and friends know how important he is to our family. how happy he was with us, it hurts us that they take advantage of our pain to say things that are not true, my nine year old son is entering in depression because every time he came home from school Cocky greeted him with all his love and joy, just like us, my other 13 year old son is also suffering, I don't understand why they say that we had him in a miserable situation, when we always treated Cocky with love, the only thing we are guilty of is not having the money and putting our trust in emergency vet, and giving him up due to lack of money. This is an overpriced vet masquerading as an 'urgent care' vet. Our cat had been sick with upper respiratory symptoms, so we took him here on the weekend as he was getting worse. We were talked into expensive x-rays, ear cytology, and specialized blood work to the tune of $1430. Plus, we walked away with NO definitive diagnosis (it could be this or it could be that or you should take him to specialists, etc.). Fast forward two weeks later and the cat still has the same issues. When we called to bring him back in for a steroid shot, they refused saying that he would need a new exam and new testing. They had also promised to send all the bloodwork and x-rays to our primary vet the day following our visit and our vet has no records from them. Avoid this place unless you just want to part with your $$ in an urgent fashion. read more

Was able to get an appointment in an hour from home. Upon arrival I checked in on a kiosk and a technician immediately greeted me, and brought me to a room. I described my dogs problems, she asked me some questions and we go him weighed and a temp taken. There was a very short wait for the vet to enter. His exam was so gentle and thorough. He gave me some diagnosis choices for tests and suggested a treatment. We left with medicines and arrived home to a full email summary of our visits and how to care for my dog while he is ill, what to watch for and how to get him back on a regular diet. I called when they first opened on a Saturday. I was instructed to go online and book a precheck in (not an appointment). When I arrived for our time we were told that due to walkins our time has been pushed back. An hour later the call to tell me they have a room so Yeah. After coming in we get put into a room for another "holding pattern". So now after an hour and a half from our pre-check in I leave with nothing as I cant wait any longer and they still aren't sure when my dog will be seen I asked they never responded. I litteraly walked out no one stopped me or even saw me. Overall inside appeance is stark just a hallway and several doors. There is noone at reception as they are just somewhere in a room. My fur babies got into an completely unexpected kerfuffle last night, which left a nasty laceration that would not stop bleeding. Knowing that my husky would need to get stitches, I was so apprehensive (she can be nasty when scared), but knew it had to be done and my vet friend recommended UrgentVet. They were so busy and all I felt was grateful - grateful that they were willing to take her and treat her, but also put up with her anxiety. Camilio (I'm sorry if I'm getting his name wrong) was so knowledgeable on how to deal with a dog with her behavior "issues". He didn't shy away when she was getting snappy and taught me a thing or two about disassociating and allowing her to get used to her surroundings. They stitched her up, were honest about the outlook (her ear will never be model material, but she's an old girl and that's just alright with us), and were so kind about her quirkiness. I have to tell everyone about the amazing and knowledgeable staff here! My beloved Trixie Bear escaped and ran through a barbed wire fence with her face. Her beautiful little face was riddled with bloody tears and lacerations; one dangerously close to her eye. Our reg vet could not see her quickly and recommended Urgent Vet. Dr.Dobies was masterfully skilled at putting our baby's face back together. She barely has a scar and her recovery was excellent! The vet was qualified even though he kept calling my male dog a her. The staff is very friendly but when I received the medication I was extremely overcharged and didn't get the amount I needed. I understand they are providing a service that I couldn't go to my regular vet for but I feel that doesn't give them a right to overcharge simple things like this. Today was my second visit to the urgent vet. We were lucky to have Dr. margulieux again. She had treated my 4yr old GSP who cut his leg open chasing a lizard over the summer. Today I brought my other GSP in for diarrhea. Extremely kind, personable and professional. She listen to my pets symptoms and my concerns and explained everything. Took my pup to the Fort Mill location on a Saturday during the pandemic. My little man hadn't to go in by himself and I had to wait in the car. The staff was amazing. Ariel kept me informed, answered all of my questions, and loved on my puppy in my absence. I did wait about an hour and a half total, but it I felt like that was actually pretty quick considering how busy they were. Our dog fell ill on a Saturday night. After checking around I found UrgentVet was open on Sundays. I preregistered our dog online, which gets you a $20 credit for new patients. The next morning, shortly after 10am I received an email for an appointment for our pet. When we arrived at the clinic, we were greeted by smiling and compassionate faces. We were led into an examination room immediately and our dog was cared for. The fact that we had an option on a Sunday was greatly appreciated. The whole staff was kind and provided explanations for all charges on our bill. Now our bill was steep and I would be lying if I said I expected to walk in and out with a bill less than $300. However, I wish I had known they don't do surgery if necessary and will ultimately send you to an ER Vet after several hours here. For major issues in the future, I'll just go direct to Long's in Charlotte and save the HUNDREDS of dollars we spent here for really nothing. I have a seven week old puppy that woke up yesterday not wanting to eat or drink and was more lethargic than normal, this is very unusual for him..he's a great eater. We brought him to the Ft. Mill location and we were asked to wait outside to do the Parvo test and while we were outside he finally began to drink water. The results were negative and they put us in a room. The tech was really the only one who even touched my puppy, she took his temp and weighed him. When the Dr. came in she popped open a can of canned food to see if he would eat, and luckily he ate the whole can. She then explained that the parvo test might not show a positive result because it might be too soon. For some reason it seemed like Parvo was the only reason a puppy wouldn't be able to eat or drink. SHE NEVER EXAMINED MY DOG. She didn't look in his mouth, his ears, his eyes, she never palpated his stomach...nothing! I am not a Doctor but even I know that animals can stop eating for a lot of different reasons. The tech came in with an estimate of over $600 which included xrays , fluids and a dewormer. I'm sure you can imagine how I felt not about the cost, but how can someone come to this conclusion without even examining my puppy. read more

Worth the long read. Noticed sudden large lump on my dogs belly and he appeared to be in distress. Decided to take him to nearest animal hospital since it was after normal veterinary hours. I arrived at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Rock Hill at approximately 6:05 pm. There was no one in waiting room. Woman behind desk had me fill out forms and demanded payment PRIOR to service. She told me to have a seat. My dog was in distress. At 6:30 pm she tells me the only 2 technician's are with a patient. I tried to be patient myself but I already had been there 25 minutes just waiting. At 6:45 pm she tells me it will be at least another 30 minutes or so before seeing my dog! I was very angry because she could have told me that before she took my payment! I could have went else where sooner. The service and staff seemed uninterested in me or my dog's urgent care. I located another Emergency vet in Fort Mills, UrgentVet Pet Clinic, who took me right in and treated my dog immediately for what turned out to be two copperhead snake bites! I left Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Rock Hill at approximately 7:00 pm. There was no one at the front desk when I left. I called out but no one responded! I just left. I waited 1 hour+ at Carolina Veterinary Specialists without receiving treatment or triage! They are absolutely the worst veterinary I have ever been too. I then called the next day to make sure they credited me back for the payment I made. Extremely poor service. I rated them 1 star because this review dosen't offer a 0 zero star review. If you want real immediate care I highly recommend UrgentVet Pet Clinic in Fort Mill, SC. I was greeted immediately and staff took me immediately in to a room. Receptionist filled out forms on a tablet as I answered her questions. Veterinary doctor (Dr. Jim Dobies) diagnosed my dog quickly. He was amazing. He used least restrictive approach in diagnosing and treating my dog. They cared about me and my dog BEFORE their payment! Unlike my experience at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Rock Hill, SC. Way over priced, staff not knowledgeable of how to care for animals that need urgent care. Sent us to three other places to have simple things taken care of. Poor dog is now at a another vet they sent us too. The cost of him receiving care for three days at the current vet is cheaper than the initial visit we had with them. Also they hung up on three members of our family because we had not heard from the person who brought the dog to urgent care. Over three hours and we had not heard anything. So I called, his dad called and his wife called and we were all hung up on by the office manager because we asked where they sent them. Told all three of us very rudely that was against the law. We did not ask any medical questions at all just concerned about the person who took the dog and wanted to make sure he was safe. Told his wife no it's against the law! He could have been in a wreck or anything and they could not give the wife that information! We will never use them again. obviously they don't know what they are doing! This is not the end of this review. I will be contacting the owner of this company because the current office staff need to be replaced with people who care and treat their patients and owners with respect. Panic stations when our dog pulled a nail running in the yard. Took us straight in, an hour and a half later we were able to take our dog home after a quick surgery to fix her toe. Super happy, they had her fixed, bandaged up and on the way in record time. Super nice staff , very caring and sweet. Cost - $400 give or take a poke in the eye. That included: surgery/anesthesia antibiotics and pain killers. Also included was Liver/kidney testing ($90) and a visit fee of $78. They Updated us on the cost every step of the way. To my Charlotte and surrounding area pet parents - if you need care for one of your furbabies, I highly recommend UrgentVet Pet Clinic. They have locations in Belmont and Fort Mill. We saw Dr. Oona Gayle (she has a FB page with her contact info) and were extremely impressed! My husband and I agreed that we have NEVER visited a vet who was more attentive and thorough with an exam. They really didn't charge much more than we would have paid at our regular vet ($123 including SQ fluid administration!) and are open Mon-Fri 3pm to 11pm, Sat-Sun 10am to 8pm, and holidays 12pm to 8pm. They play classical music in the rooms, as well as having pheromone diffusers to calm pets and parents! You can get everything there that you would at your regular vet except heartworm and flea/tick medication. Our Max has been suffering with seizures over the past 7 months which are largely brought on by anxiety (his last one was on Monday at our regular vet's office for his routine exam) so of course, I'm concerned with how my furbaby is treated! This was the first time Max didn't shake and shiver the entire visit. Dr. Gayle took the time to explain that since Max is now on seizure medication, we can't continue with our regular flea/tick medication which is something our regular vet didn't discuss! read more
