Line is backed up out the door, one employee occasionally at the counter having to go in the back to do paper work every few mins

so I was in town looking for a snack and a post office because sometimes life happens that way, and…read morehad qualified success on both counts. found a rated eatery that I didn't much care for. I'm taking a pass because maybe it's a local thing and the locals are agreeable to it and besides that, this is a review for the local post office. the Ellensburg Post Office, judging by content and context of the reviews, seems a mess but after navigating the streets and sidewalks and seeing what passes for acceptable parking out front I am inclined to believe you get what you deserve considering that postal workers are generally hired locally so these are your very own neighbors treating you this way... I just popped in to post a few cards and the drop box was clearly labeled and functional so I did not get to interact with the staff, just the folks coming and going and "parking"... not saying anything, just saying that sometimes you get what you deserve.

However the last few years: regarding P.O. Box mail. The back office has a systematic delivery method for the mail. That part is needed, however, some will argue this method can also target paid for boxes with service difficulties. Operational: The back office workers place the mail as far back toward their work space as they can. If someone doesn't go to the post office every day, back office personnel do not inch the mail slightly forward toward the customer access door. The small pieces are most vulnerable. Think size wise, of pieces such as 1099 tax statements. If something falls out the back, it is lost. Talking to mostly friendly front desk personal about the issue still can have the back office personnel delivering the mail in the back of the box.

There were folks ahead of us and there were 2 chairs available (I am disabled and cannot stand very long) so I was able to sit in line. The flow of service was quick & we only had to wait about 10 minutes. The USPS clerk was: pleasant, courteous, & efficient. Her personality was such that she was very empathetic to my disability & truly treated me compassionately. She asked if I needed stamps, I said no thanks. She offered different rates & I decided on the delivery date of Monday, Yay; it would not take a week to get to my BFF in AZ! I highly recommend this USPS!

I understand that old timey-ness is part of the draw around here but would it kill you to get a stamp vending machine? pretty sure they've had such things since the dawn of the atomic age so no worries about it being an anarchism. might even get some repeat business after the business close of the business because it's not like you're going to do a lot of upselling

This review is based on my recent visit this past Thurs, December 01, 2022…read more [PO Box] Lots of boxes available as you enter the bldg. Also as you enter the building the large self drop off box is there for you to drop of pre-paid packages, and it slides into the back for security. Please note the building is closed after hours so you won't be able to access your Boxes. [Front Desk] The Front desk will usually cycle 2 Team members at opposite ends of the front counter. This is great for privacy and security as you discuss your needs to the Team members. The line is standard like most USPS, where it hooks around with a middle table divider for you to place your package or fill in last minute labels. [Supplies] Most standard supplies like Priority & Express boxes/envelopes and cert/insured labels are available for you to pickup, fill in, and use. Those specialty items can be requested once you get to the front and the Team Members have always been able to help out. [Team Members] The FRIENDLIEST and most professional, and nicest group you'll ever meet in Yakima! So far, I've noticed there's 3 main front members who cycles 2 in at a time. All 3 are amazingly supportive and compassionate for your needs. [Services] The members are more then qualified for serving your needs. Priority Mailing. Ebay mailing. Insured mailing. Letters to Santa. All your needs can be found here. [Parking] The front has staggered parking to help out. Since it is a smaller location, street parking is currently Free along 3rd street. I personally would recommend the street parking, walk an extra 10 feet to the front door because when you leave it is quicker to get onto either Yakima Ave or Walnut St. [Note1] This is NOT a passport location. [Note2] Those customer reviews about missing package needs to double check as the package pickup/delivery is usually located on the main location on Washington St and not this one, on 3rd St. [Office Hours] The Office Hours noted here in Yelp are incorrect. Mon-Fri = 08:30 to 05:00PM PST. [Final Thoughts] Please apply the "Golden Rule" that we were all taught when we were little. The Team Members do a stressful job and everyone do feel "entitled" because we all believe our packages are the most important in the world. Treat the staff respectfully, and you'll be amazed at how quickly and efficiently things can be completed for you.
