The post office sucks. There are never enough people working, and the employees they do have are always apathetic at best. I've had to go to pick up a package a few times and it always seems to take forever. But this particular post office is beautiful as a building and a historical artifact. It was built in the 30s and houses two significant WPA artworks. One of them depicts Louis Sullivan amongst steelworkers, and in his hands he's bearing the Carson Pirie Scott building (also known as Sullivan Center, which is where the Target on State Street is located). The other includes an image of Carl Sandburg, local poet (at the time), as he lived just under a mile from where this post office stands. Little parking, all metered along Lawrence and Ainslie. There are boxes on the corner so you don't have to go in unless you have other business.

Accident when the petty USPS delivery woman rear ended my parked vehicle.

I just had an incident happen in Argyle where a postal worker from here rear ended my vehicle. I got into a confrontation with her because she completely lied about what she did and took no accountability what so ever. A sincere apology, taking accountability and being a mature adult would have sufficed but the fact she called me a b*tch and acted extremely disrespectful and arrogant ignited the fury in me. I called the Broadway location to file a complaint and two supervisors arrived on scene. I hope this incident gets investigated properly and doesn't get swept under the rug. Postal workers should display integrity because the residents trust you to deliver us important mail. I find it disappointing and utterly disgusting that individuals like this work for you guys. I had a scream fest on Argyle street tonight because of this POS employee that tried to lie through her teeth. Below is a picture I took of her USPS van rear ending the left rear end of my suv. Instead of apologizing like a grown woman and moving the company vehicle, she got nasty, took a boxed package out the van, slowly delivered the package to a business across the street and watched my anger unfold. This employee displayed nothing but pathetic, petty and unprofessional behavior. I feel like people tried covering up for her and know exactly who I'm talking about. You guys know who is in charge of the routes and which mail man or woman delivers to the specific streets. Stop playing games. People like her need to be fired because the lack of professionalism and zero integrity will make USPS look bad. These are not the kind of people that should be working here. Another thing, last time I visited this location to retrieve a package, the lady behind the counter had an extreme attitude problem towards the residents of the area who approached her at the counter. I'd hear them be polite with her and she just had the biggest darn attitude and bad energy. Kindness goes a long way. If your employees can't be kind and lack professionalism, you need to teach them that or stop hiring these ghetto, toxic energy exuding females at the post office that always look mad and have no common courtesy or social skills. You need employees that know how to communicate with customers especially at the post office. The female working there has a resting bitch face, gives people dirty looks, doesn't answer questions and only knows how to yell at people. This isn't a military base and stop hiring mfs that want to act like drill sergeants trying to intimidate the friendly residents of Edgewater and uptown. Take these reviews seriously and do better for the integrity of USPS. Y'all suck. Anthony is the only mailman that had a great attitude and did his job well!

Apparently they don't do passport photos here anymore. Would have been nice to know before I waited in line.

It took one hour and 45 minutes to get papers processed for 3 passports. I'd rather eat glass than ever go to this place again.

Worst post office ever. I'd give 0 stars if I could. Staff, managers, supervisors should all be fired. Terrible service.

He refused the paid UPS service of boxing and packing the device, got verbally abusive, and told me he didn't care if I complained about him or his refusing service. I've had nasty encounters in this store before (and clearly many others have from the reviews here.) But I've never been flat-out refused a paid UPS Store service or been chewed out by an employee for asking for one. I have far more respect for myself as a person than "Dude" had for me as a customer. I told Amazon what happened and they changed my return channel to my local Whole Foods store.

Annoying but not bad. This store used to be fairly busy. When you slap a printing fee and a page fee and I believe they now have a tape fee??? people stop feeling good about going to said store. Also, 3 people at the counter and not a single one walks up to help hold the door for a large package. Just blank stares behind the counter. Not what I like to see when I'm struggling to get in... I drive 6 miles south to the UPS store in Lincoln Park on North Ave where the staff prints all my labels for $2 total. The end. The owners son comes out TO MY CAR to help me carry heavy boxes. It's never expected and I've never asked but the service is there- as it should be.

Why is FedEx even still in business? No guarantees, no customer service on Sundays. Useless. Yes, I get that it's a holiday weekend, but what is even the point when everything FedEx seems to stop on weekends. Enter the nice guy at the UPS store. Got my envelope all fixed up, and guaranteed delivery (barring super inclement weather, which, reasonable) when I needed it delivered. UPS is a bit more expensive than FedEx, but when they actually do what you are paying them to do - it's worth it. THANK YOU - and why the bad reviews of this place, I found it to be helpful and friendly, well organized and clean - and both the guys in the stop were handsome. Bonus!

A tall employee came from the back on the phone and seemed frustrated with them for some reason. After they hung up they said that the lady could stay but demanded that everyone else leave. When the employee realized I, also black, was not with them and wasn't leaving they asked if I was dropping off the box in my hands. I said yes, walked over and explained it was a usps package. The employee then began to interrogate me about what was in the box. First I said stuff for my mom but they kept pressing as if I was hiding something. When I said books they explained that they can't ship certain items and that I wouldn't be receiving a receipt, which I never expected in the first place. They didn't even say what items that they couldn't ship. At that point I did not feel safe leaving my package given the employee's hostile attitude towards me and the other customer. It was the most aggressive "I don't want to help you and I don't want you here" vibe I've gotten shopping in this neighborhood. It felt racially motivated. I usually don't leave reviews or make complaints but this employee needs some retraining. I'm sure if they behaved this way with me it's not the first time. In any case I will not be back. Actually, I went to the FedEx in Walgreens after I left. They couldn't help me because I didn't have a label and couldn't make one on my phone. But I got great customer service by the young lady there. She treated me like a customer and not a criminal suspect for wanting to ship a package. Just night and day
