All I can say is that I wish that they cloned this one. The postmistress is as nice as can be -- cheerful and helpful to the customer. That's true with other country post offices that I've dealt with, but I think that that the one in Callicoon Center is particularly noteworthy for the quality of service provided. There are plans afoot to shut rural post offices, and fortunately the Callicoon Center P.O. isn't on the hit list. One merchant, who lives some distance away in a different zip code, told me that he keeps a p.o. box at this post office because of its reputation for great service. I kid you not. This is the Nirvana of post offices. I buy all my stamps here, and I mail packages from here as much as possible because it's important to give business to rural post offices that are in danger of closing.

This is a small town place, they know everyone, and they also know whats going on around town. So if you need to learn anything, this is the spot to stop in. They always have stamps, can always mail something for you, help you find the right box and really make it a pleasant experience. Its a totally different feel in the country. Many of these offices are currently at risk of closing, but for many local people its one of their main sources of information, interaction and the like. Its important they remain open in these small town country areas.

I love the long folding tables as well. The woman working there was busily cleaning the entire time and was very friendly. I've been to nicer laundromats but they're new. It's been nine days, I went back the next day and took a picture of the counter where I left the note. The note was gone, so they had my number, and ignored the situation. I will never come into this dump again. If I have to wash clothes outside of my house I will go all the way to Ellenville , where I know they watch the cameras and they will give you your money back when they go through the inventory of their money and know that their books are over. This is a small town, people talk you never know who's reading reviews. Renovations me nothing when you don't have customer service, renovations mean nothing when you don't have anybody there to refund somebody in a timely manner. Renovations mean nothing when you have, no one, and NO ONE there to give you back five dollars that you lost in their machine trying to wash your laundry. Make IT makes sense. It wasn't my last five dollars, but it could've been somebody else's, could've been a single mothers last five dollars, could've been an elderly man's last five dollars! He might've been waiting on his Social Security to come in and that was all the laundry money he had allotted for the week. You never know what people are going through. Me personally it's the principle! This place has no principles, morals, or customer service. Lovely.

I was very surprised that how many people came in to use the post office in this tiny little town. The service I requested was getting my bereavement gift to our family abroad in the most cost-efficient and fastest method possible. Nick was able to assist me in saving approximately $50 just by using a standard box instead of the white boxes marked priority mail. The travel time between accord New York and Tokyo Japan will be about the same give or take one day so saving 40 or $50 was well worth it.
