I don't know how much longer the US Postal Service is going to hang on. When they were the only game in town and being subsidized by the US government, they had it easy because they never had to turn a profit. In these days of e-mail & competition from UPS & Fed Ex, the USPS has to struggle to survive and they are failing miserably. When was the last time you mailed a letter or package at the post office? Don't get me wrong, I like the USPS and their prices are pretty good, but they need to step it up, expand their markets and make themselves modern. I used to collect stamps as a kid, but nobody does it anymore, so you're not making money there. I went to mail an envelope package yesterday and it was $2.53, pretty reasonable. Sometimes the lines are ridiculous and they don't care that the line is out the door. If I'm a postal worker, I have my job security and my government pension, so why should I care? If you don't focus on the customer like in any other "service" industry, you're going under. The people there as well as their equipment are dated as well. Not too long ago, they were still using 5.25" floppy disks to log onto their register systems! Welcome back to 1980. They've probably upgraded to 3.5" floppies by now. Just yesterday, I got a CD in the mail advertising their www.stamps.com program. Really? Who does that anymore? Even AOL stopped doing that. Thanks, USPS, but I have enough coasters. This post office never has supplies in stock out for customers to use like priority mail envelopes and tape. There is always a line even with two to three mail clerks. There are social distancing stickers on the floor but the line usually out the door. The door gets locked at 4:59 pm so you have to be inside before then or else they will turn you away. There is one self service kiosk for stamps and weighing packages but when the package drop off gets full, the door gets stuck and they do not allow additional packages to be dropped off. read more

I wish that I could give this sh*thole 0 stars. I went into this place to spend $557 on a postal mailing for my job, and it was a huge mistake! This place is the last chance corral for postal workers, only employing those that would be fired from private sector jobs. Most people go into this sh*thole to mail a package, get stamps, but I'm quite sure not to spend the amount of money that I did today. I was instructed by Monique to bring over 3000 postcards around the back of the building, and drop the boxes back there, after I had paid. I asked her where I had to go to drop the boxes off, and she instructed me to drive to the back of the building. So after driving around the back of the building, I was greeted by a rude female postal worker loading truck # 6424882. She told me that I couldn't be back there. I advised her that I just spent over $500 to do a postal mailing, and that I was instructed to drop off the boxes back there. She said "WELL I'M TELLING YOU THAT YOU CAN'T, and went to get a supervisor. (Don't bother assisting me asshat, just be rude with a tude, and misrepresent the postal service by being a bully). So the supervisor, who said that her name was Maybel (line) came out and asked me what I was doing back there, and when she found out that it was a postal mailing, she said "ok", and walked away. I ran after her to ask her where I should drop the boxes, and she disappeared behind doors that the public can't access. Hmmm, now what? So I ask a postal worker who was just standing around, and he said "I don't know" and walked away...great! So, finally I asked a really nice postal worker who had seen the runaround that I was getting, to help me and went he got someone right away to assist me. With Fedex, UPS and other carriers, my advice is to NEVER USE THIS POST OFFICE, DRIVE MILES AWAY IF YOU HAVE TO, BUT AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE AN STD. read more

I only go to this branch because it's local to me. I slightly prefer the 11366 Utopia Branch over this one. This Horace Harding Station location is pretty unfriendly and lousy to deal with. One lady who is a clerk doesn't want to do the work necessary of her job, such as counting stamps on packages or adding them up. She yells at the customers too (no private sector employer would allow this). Another couple of clerks like to find ways to deny you full service unless paying top dollar despite following the rules. If you want to save money and get friendlier service go to another location of USPS. Avoid this location if you can. This location does consistently call by telephone if you complain about issues related to mail getting delayed, not tracking or not getting delivered. This is a positive of this location. They will do this the next day or two if you call 1-800-ASK-USPS first. A supervisor from the branch will call you. read more

This Post Office is the worst. I called to speak with a carrier supervisor. They put me on hold for an hour when i hung up to call back the line was busy all day. I was supposed to receive my overnight shipment on 12/8/17 at 12 p.m. I never received it. On 12/9/17 is when i was calling the post office to find out if my shipment would be with my regular postal man. They are the worst and they need to do better. The whole USPS as a whole. Fresh Meadows Post Office claimed they delivered a package that never showed up. They never came to the building. Told me it was delivered, then when I made a complaint they said ok we'll look for it. Another lie. I had to escalate this multiple times. Went to the office and spoke to the supervisor. Wow! This place is absolutely terrible. Out of all the post offices I've been to in my life, the service here has got to be the absolute worst! The guy at the window literally just yells at customers for no reason. And yes, we are "customers" who pay for a service. Not paying these jerks to yell at us. I guess the USPS employees are unionized or something and don't really fear losing their jobs, but someone really needs to step up and fix this USPS location. I'm glad everyone hates this Post Office. It makes it easier for me to be in and out in no time. I have always been treated well here. The clerks are fast and efficient and know their job. They aren't here to be your friend. They want you out so they can service the next person. You can park in the lot behind Hooters to avoid the meters on Horace Harding. That is if you aren't too lazy to walk a few extra feet. The self service area is huge so if you need to sort your mail or get hints in order yon don't have to worry about space. Just be mindful of using the scale and distribute the weight evenly of your package as not to have it returned for insufficient postage. Drop off and pick up is fast and easy because it's a small post office and they know what they are doing . read more

Your typical neighborhood post office, nothing special, nothing to complain about. The inside looks the same as it did from when I was a kid. Workers are emotionless but gets the job done. I only had to pick up a package, not much service needed there nor can you really mess that up. The motto is "In and Out" - don't expect to be greeted with a red carpet and you'll be fine. read more

The lines move a little quicker here than the one on 71st Avenue and there's usually more staff on duty. The hours are also more accomidating. They also have a self service station that's open 24 hours so if you can't make it in time you can always use that as a back up. read more

This is by far the worst post office I have ever dealt with. Three of my packages have never been delivered, despite tracking information indicating that it has. They do not re-deliver if you ask them to. Customer service is absolutely horrible. Each time I've had someone say this would be investigated and someone would get back to me. Not once have I received a phone call following up on my package. If you want to know what's going on with your stuff, you will be the one to call and wait for a long period of time before speaking to someone. Went in and there was only one other person there. I got my documents ready and about to go on line and a nice gentleman stopped me and asked if I'm paying by card he can take care of it. He answered my questions and told me I don't need to buy the more expensive route because for manhattan it'll be delivered one day. Great first time experience at this USPS! I have never met staff members who are as incapable as the ones working there. I came with the simple intent to ship out an item with a prepaid label which of course had the correct size and weight. They couldn't even assist me in that regard and asked I pay more for no apparent reaso. After an hour speaking with one inept staff after the other, my package was finally sent off. Overall, the staff simply lacked in both communication and training to solve even the most basic of problems and I would definitely not recommend. read more

i ship 1-20 packages via USPS almost every day, i print labels from my computer to save time at the post office (mine and usps sales representative), usually i go to the Rockefeller Center location where very friendly ladies always SCAN and always give me a receipt for my packages (as a proof that the mail was sent out), as i currently moved to Fresh Meadows, 11/03/2015 i went to 193-04 Horace Harding Post Office Location with the 7 packages to be scanned, there were only 2-3 people in the line, and 3 Usps workers at the windows. as i got to the window the lady refused to scan my mail, she said she can take it but she won't scan it, so i won't get my receipt. i explained her that i need a proof of mail acceptance, but she refused again. basically with no reason, she said she is busy and called next customer. (there were 2 people behind me). i asked her to call the supervisor, she told me he is having lunch, and i can come back in 2 hours..i've waited and then tried to explain her that she will spend more time arguing ( she was very nervous and kind of rude) with me instead of just scanning the mail, because scan is so easy and fast. but nothing changed, no acceptance, no supervisor. i end up driving to Jamaica Ave station, where all my packages were scanned with no questions... Workers at the window are so rude, lazy ..and not helpful..they just don't want to do their job.. i already have sent the complain to postalexperience.com/Pos , but not sure what i have to do, because i will need to come back there... read more

Worst post office!! They always have their phone off the hook so you get a busy signal. If you are fortunate enough to get someone on the phone, they are rude, abrupt, and unaccommodating! And they aren't any different when I go to the post office and need assistance. I am expecting two packages that are apparently lost or hung up in the system. When I called the main # for this post office this morning, I got a busy signal (as usual), so I called the manager's number and a woman picked up. When I explained to her why I was calling, she told me I have to wait "because there is a customer in front of her" and she said in a very sing-song patronizing voice, "I'll be with you in just a minute"... I'm sure you all know that meant, she wasn't going to pick up the phone again. I held about two minutes and hung up. When I called back five minutes later, there was a busy signal on that line also. I've been trying three numbers I have for this post office, ALL BUSY SIGNALS! I called a Customer Service number (that office is in NY, and the girl I spoke to told me she is aware that a lot of post offices do that. As someone else commented in her post, they have no clue what customer service is and they need to be taught. I have a customer complaint number that I have used on a few occasions in the past, and they DO take action and follow up. I would suggest that anyone having a problem with a post office in the Queens area should definitely call the customer complaint # and here is that # for you. (718) 348-3900. The customer complaint office hours are Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM. I plan to call on Monday morning. The problem is pepetuated because not enough people take proper action. Venting on Yelp will not solve the problem! These are Government employees whose salaries come from our hard earned tax dollars!!
