My family and I visited this US Postal office a few weeks ago for Passport Renewals and I must say this was the best idea. The attention to detail and attentiveness by Nelson Rivera was outstanding. He went as far as coming out from behind the scenes to ensure that everyone was taken care of in a timely manner. His professionalism was visible and impressive. Best possible office around, most knowledge staff, most friendly by far of any post office in NYC. Sorry guys but the San Diego post office edges ya all out. I've kept a P.O. Box here and have been very satisfyied with the pricing structure, with little and nominal increases along the way. Employees are all working at maximum capacity, covering a good portion of space. The post office gets really busy sometimes and it is a little slow but other than that, the workers are so nice and I have no issues at this post office. And specifically one middle-aged Asian lady, she's a sweetheart! She's very knowledgeable and will go above and beyond whatever you ask her. read more

Do NOT make the mistake of coming here on your lunch hour hoping to mail so much as a single letter. You could watch moss grow, or dust mites accumulate on the windowsill and it would be faster than this place. What I found personally hilarious was the sign prominently displayed, advising (presumably impatient and fuming) customers standing in line that "The Post Office is Not Supported by Your Tax Dollars" -- as if it were a magic charm to ward off preliminary complaints about the service. But then, one might then be spurred to Google "who funds the post office?" and one would be then surprised to discover that, as a matte of fact, according to a study by former Treasury undersecretary Robert Shapiro, "American taxpayers subsidize the USPS at a rate that surpasses the costs associated with any Congressional mandate. He estimates that, all told, the subsidies and legal monopolies that Congress bestows upon the post office is worth $18 billion annually" in the form of - Laws that bar any other shipping service from delivering mail and packages directly to residential and business mailboxes - Tax breaks (The Post Office is exempt from state and local property and real estate taxes, along with other burdens like tolls, vehicle registration fees, and parking tickets - to the tune of 2.18 billion per year) - Cheap borrowing from the Federal Treasury at highly-subsidized interest rates Go figure. read more

This might possibly be the worst post office in all of Queens. No one here greets you with a "good morning"- EVER nor do they respond when you greet them. The manager is rude and unprofessional (shes the one with old school roses tattooed all over her forearms), I have witnessed her coming out and yelling at the customer inside the post office to move their car that she seemed to assume was someone within the building, obviously it wasn't but she literally was pointing at people yelling "is it YOUR car?!".... Not sure how you justify accusing your customers but I wish I recorded this event, it was wildly unprofessional. The people they have working there are a really poor representation of the USPS, they are rude and act like they don't understand what your saying or asking. Down to the extent that you might get a lecture on how to package your item and that you should not use their free envelops because the teller might consider it as "wasting" ( With the exception of Caroline who's always friendly). I have seen these USPS tellers talk down to older folks or folks who speak limited English. I truly feel bad for these customers because they most likely wont file a complaint or post a review but they 100% don't deserve to be treated the way workers at this post office treat them. Have patience for people, you are a working professional in the service industry, it is YOUR job to provide quality service to people from all walks of life. Be thankful you don't know what its like (nor do you have to) to struggle to communicate in a new country. Sending mail should be a simple experience. Ok everyone, let's get real -- it's a Post Office in a NYC borough. What kind of customer service are you expecting? The pens affixed to the tables are never replaced, so come prepared with everything completed already, or with your own working pens. It's the least you can do to save time. Lines build quickly here with little staff. The staff is knowledgeable. Just do yourself a favor and complete as much work (shipping labels, packing, etc.) as possible before coming; and don't expect the kind of friendly and welcoming customer service you would get at an Apple Store. read more

Awful. Awful. Awful. I just spent my entire lunch hour waiting to ship one stupid package. I was in line but needed tape. A woman came over and said she'd give me tape that I would have to buy, but I had to get out of line (Because I can't tape it up at the window or something?), tape it up, and then get back on the end because I wasn't about to cut in front of people that came in after I stepped out who didn't know I had already been there, and there was no one there to vouch for me, certainly not the lady who gave me the tape and told me to step out. I then stood there while ONE man took customers (1 couple who were doing something that took 30 minutes), and no one else came out to help as the line got longer and longer. Finally a woman came out, took two people, and then disappeared again, leaving the man all alone, again, with 15 (yes, I counted) people waiting in line. After another 20 minutes, another woman finally came out from the back and took at least another 5 minutes to get set up. These people are slow as molasses, no sense of urgency at all. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: WHEN YOU HAVE MORE THAN 5 PEOPLE WAITING ON LINE, GET MORE THAN 1 PERSON OUT THERE TO TAKE CUSTOMERS AND DON'T LET THEM LEAVE ON BREAK UNTIL THE LINE IS GONE. I live on the next street over so its super convenient if I just need to throw something in the mail, its annoying that having to get on line for anything is a total disaster. read more

Please pay attention to the one star reviews this place gets. I only go here because it the closest place to ship my packages, but if there were others around it would be the place to avoid. The staff is completly rude (literally everyone there) and they always have something smart to say. I came with a pre-paid labeled priority mail box and just asked: "can I drop it here?" Got a response - wait in line...I just opened the window of the counter and left the box where other boxes were already placed - that's normal for all post offices that people just leave their boxes there. The thing is - I see no updates for 3 days already. Are they even holding it there without doing anything with it on purpose? Terrible even for a government run office in NY. Have had employees lie and even simply walk away mid conversation never to return. The management of Judy and Michelle are incompetent at best and untrustworthy at worst. Packages show delivered and never arrive. Attempted deliveries when no attempt was made. Told packages in truck when not. At the end of the day we just get screwed cause they have all the authority and no really responsibility because as a customer you have no recourse except wait a month and file a claim. This location is beyond awful. Staff is rude and ridiculously slow- but it's the closest location so what can I do. Can it get any worse? Why yes, of course it can. Every time this location delivers packages to my home they ignore the rather large sign asking them to leave the package at the back door if no one is home. Kew Gardens Post Office on Lefferts Blvd I had the most horrible experience with this post office a month ago I had been waiting for an important information to be mailed to me and when I approached the post master (woman) she kept asking me where I lived and I told her well her name is Pat and she got very nasty and abrupt with me. Pat is very nasty I did go to the post office and report her to her supervisor Ramona however Ramona states she is an older woman and Pat tends to get neverous well Pat never gave me my mail which is Fraud and I also had a package which pat did not give to me and if you are new to Kew Gardens be very careful with the post office because they tend to steal mail and the 800 number does even do anything about the mail in Kew Gardens, Queens...that post office should be audited with the type of people they have working at Kew Gardens Post office. read more

Horribly miserable post office. Employees make an effort to provide very poor customer service. Manager is "not available" so don't bother asking. If you complain, the window agents will begin a personal conversation stopping all business. I show up with a postage paid flat rate -- "can I drop this off, I don't need a receipt" -- "No, wait in line". They aren't paid with federal tax dollars, only postage. You think they would be rather aware of that and act accordingly. There are some great post offices in the area, just remember not to go here. read more

Came here a few weeks ago to apply for my passport. The line was long, but that's pretty common when going to any post office. Nonetheless, the line went by pretty quick and I was able to apply for my passport and have my picture taken. They told me that I should be receiving my passport within the next 4 weeks and I received it in two weeks instead of four. Not too bad. read more

She was cutting me off after two words and not really wanting to hear the rest of the what I was trying to say. I have lived in at least five different cities, and this is, by far, the WORST post office I have been to, in Queens. The staff are lazy and unfriendly. They give attitude when explanation is asked and are not helpful, whatsoever. Not to mention, they are so slow. I came in at 8:58am on a Monday, and was the second person on the line, and did not leave until 10am. I mean, this is completely unacceptable. Furthermore, they lost my package, and offered no explanation or apology. On Aug 7th, I purchase an item from eBay, and paid extra for expedited shipping and tracking. It was supposed to be delivered to me within 2-3 days. On Aug 10th, I check the tracking online, and it said "in transit, delayed". I had no idea what this meant, and so I read the details, which stated that the product had been delivered at this post office two days prior. When I inquired about the package, the teller went in the back, and came out about 20 minutes later, and said "I have no clue where your package is"... WTF?! How is it that a package, with tracking and a barcode could not be found? She gave me instructions to call the next day to speak with the supervisor. I did that, and she took maybe a second to check for my package, and came back to the phone and said, "I have no idea where your package is, I have to ask my carrier". At this point, I am furious because the teller AND the supervisor have no knowledge about where my package is, not to mention, it was an important item that I needed to ship to a relative overseas. To make a long story short, the supervisor NEVER called me back. I ended up having to call her several times, for her to basically tell me the same sad story, which was that nobody at the post office knew where my package was. I later asked her who will be held financially response for my package, and she said "I don't know", but you can file a claim online. I was disturbed and upset by how uncaring and insensitive she was, also the fact that she never offered an apology at all. I can't believe this s*hit show has the audacity to call themselves a government operated post office. I am appalled. I then asked the supervisor for her first name, to include in the claim (because I only know her by her last name), and she refused to give it to me. Of course... Furthermore, within the same week, I attempted to ship a package overseas. The same teller gave me a large envelope and a US customs form to complete, which lists all of the contents within the package. She verified what was in the package and approved it to be sent out. I paid almost $100 for it to be expedited and tracked. Two days later the package showed up at my door. To my surprise, it was returned to me because one of the items was flammable, and should have not been cleared to ship internationally. What strikes we as odd, is that the teller was aware of what was in my package, and never mentioned once, that it could not be sent. I am angry, frustrated, disgusted and turned-off by the way this post office is ran. The staff are dismissive, rude, condescending, inexperienced and completely unfit to run a post office. If you can go to ANY other post office, please do. This place sucks, with a capital "S", and I will not be back. Not ever! :( read more
