"Times they are a changin'."…read more The service under the new manager (2019) is not what it used to be. The postmaster is impolite and not accommodating at all to those of us who are in the outer reaches of his jurisdiction. Who wants to know his name, like it always was when we were on a first person basis with our hard-working postal workers, and people waved to strangers on the highway (literally). He has suggested basically, we moved out here so its our tough luck. Where did they import him from? Amazing, there are still folks like us who choose to live in a vanishing wilderness. He thinks nothing of having us drive to Sonoita 50 miles round trip for an oversized package (sometimes, in our case, perishable live items that cannot be left in a boiling mailbox or on the shelf in the post office). For twenty years we could request the packages be brought out and given directly to us at the mailboxes, which are already three miles down a rough dirt road. They didn't have to waste any time. If we missed them so be it, it was our tough luck. Nobody was slowing them down or asking them to work any harder. All they had to do was answer the phone and put the packages in the truck. Sorry, we can't be part of the effort to turn Sonoita into a convenient suburb where most of the houses look like they should be on the coast of Connecticut, and where people only have to drive several miles to pick up their oversized packages. All us rural folks are asking is maintain the great service we've been used to for decades. You keep raising the prices, don't you? Be helpful. Be kind. Be polite. Some of the nicest folks I've met in life were postal workers and some of us older folks have come to depend on what was once a great institution. Now don't go postal on us! You hear?

It's insane how bad this particular post office is, Pretty much every week I get a note saying that…read moremy item was delivered to a parcel locker at USPS facility. Even though my mailbox is not full like at all. Ive spoken to other neighbors and this seems to be a common occurrence. The drivers just seem lazy AF. It seems like they reach a point where they stop wanting to make deliveries and instead just leave little notes. Like this shit is criminal.

This post office constantly causes me numerous problems. The mail carriers are not instructed to…read moredeliver packages to the address. Instead, they take the packages to the neighborhood mailbox hub, and nine times out of ten, they will NOT leave your package. Instead, they leave countless slips of paper saying "your mailbox was too full OR your package was too big. " Since this is a rural area, I understand that home delivery isn't always feasible. However, if I live just .03 miles beyond the maximum delivery distance, is it really that much of a burden to simply deliver my packages? At the very least, extending the operating hours would help those of us who work for a living to send and pick up our parcels. I receive many packages essential for my job, and when I can NEVER GET THEM or cannot pick them up, it causes huge problems for my family and me. The most frustrating part is when I finally reach the post office, I have to stand there for hours, telling the clerk repeatedly to go back and locate my package, because for some reason they are eager to tell me "noooo we doughnut half eet" five times before finally finding it and handing it over. They did this with a Mac All-in-One desktop computer- the package was enormous, but it took them four attempts to find it. I don't think I have ever been more frustrated in my life! And this is just one of many ridiculous experiences I've had with the staff at this location. This town has a HUGE problem with hiring family members and friends instead of competent, serious workers who know how to do the job. It's obvious that the people in these critical positions have no clue what they are doing or what it takes to do the job. Shameful!
