I picked the worst day to come to the post office. I had to pick up a package that I had signed to release to be redelivered that was never redelivered so I just went back to pick it up. It was inconvenient but whatevs, I just put it on my list of errands to do. The stamp machine wad down so there was a long line. I was about five people back when about ten to fifteen people got behind me. Then, one of the registers went down, one of the reps had to take her lunch, while the one rep that was still working had to do a passport. The first two people in line got super impatient and started yelling at the reps. I am so baffled at how adults can act like and worse then children sometimes. Anyways, when it was my turn, I tried to cheer up the rep bc i knew it had been a bad day for him. People, treat your postal employees better! They work hard for us. read more

Terrible customer service. They never answer the phone. I dropped off a package there over a week ago & it still says "waiting to be received at post office" which is ruining my good standing as a business by making it look like I'm dragging my feet with dropping the package off. read more

Wish I could give this place zero stars. If the mail carrier does decide to show up, the mail he brings is usually wrong. I put the wrong mail back in the box with the flag up. Sometimes three or four days go by before he bothers to show up. Unless he has mail to deliver he won't bother picking any up. Don't bother calling over there as the number is constantly busy. Probably from all the complaints they get. I don't ever mail anything important like taxes. Those are paid in person because who knows where my check would end up. I'd really like to get rid of the mailbox all together because what does show up is wrong anyhow. Oh and the delivery guy is a sour old man who looks like he should have retired decades ago. your mail will be opened if you try to report it you need evidence that your mail was opened when you received it. heres the catch if you do YOU will be fined for spying. also when you want to do a return they will NOT accept it half the time. they say that this post office does NOT do returns. read more

Overall, the Penn Hills post office is made up of carriers, clerks and managers. The bulk of the work is done by the carriers who after a number of years and steady routes have done as much as they can to give the best service they could provide to their customers. I thank them for that. In return many of them are rewarded for their service by their customers. But as time goes on, some of those seasoned postal carriers retire leaving others to bid on those routes. In the meantime, USPS will hire full time CAAs that fill in the gaps when seasoned carriers leave their routes. That's when it becomes a problem. I have been ordering through Amazon for years and do so because of my limited time to shop for needed items. The expectation is that the postal carrier will deliver to the home. For the record, temporary CAAs will not. Twice I was forced to take time off from work to pick up my package and wait in that awful line. Other than forcing all sellers on Amazon to go with UPS or Fed Express, I am forced to reconsider ordering through Amazon until I have a steady carrier on my route. By the way, at 8:30am the gaits in the lobby are closed and locked. They are opened at 8:31am and a clerk is ready to take on customers at 8:31am, as I observed. The lines are terrible at that time and more than one clerk is needed or the backup line extends to the door. read more

I ordered a package on Amazon that was to be delivered last Thursday. It was mistakenly sent to Penn Hills instead of Swissvale Post Office. I spoke with a woman at the Penn Hills office yesterday, she told me that it should have been sent to Swissvale on Friday. She was rude throughout the phone call. I called Swissvale Post Office today, and they informed me that the package was in Greensboro, NC and nobody there knew why. I called Penn Hills again, and spoke to someone else who told me that it had been sent back to the sender. All because it was sent to the wrong post office. Instead of sending it back to the correct office, it was sent back to the sender. Now, I have no engagement ring. Thanks so much, Penn Hills. It would not be so bad except that they were so rude when I called. This is not the first time that I have had this type of issue, and it always stems with this post office. I don't even live in Penn Hills. read more

I sent my Daughter and son in law an anniversary card OverNight mail and they did not receive it so I called the 800 customer service line to trace the card. A day later I got a call from the Penn Hills post office on my answering machine and tried to return their call. However an hour after they left my message their phone( according to recorded message ) was not a working number. I redialed and called again, in fact 3 tries and was told each Time that it was a non working number. I then called my daughter and she checked the number that I was calling and it was the number of the Penn Hills post office. When my daughter went to pick up the card the post office told her it was undeliverable because the street number was blurry. there are no other people on that street with the same last name and the name was clear the street was clear the zip code was clear only the street number was blurred. I would think that most post offices could have taken a leap of faith that the family of that name that had lived on that street for well over 5 years might actually be the recipients of this mystery card. read more
